Keyword density
-
hi there! to what extent is important "the keyword density" factor in the website optimization? I've read in the net that it's no more relevant but I'm not sure. In case has an impact in the SERPs, is there a % considered as appropiate or "reference" in the SEO world?
Thanks.

thanks Kyle!

Hello Juan,
Probably the best thing to do is forget about it. If you write naturally about and around your subject with the correct grammar Google will work out what you're talking about and you won't need to repeat yourself for the sake of keyword density.
So there's no need to worry about keyword density. No need at all.
Keyword density: there's no need to worry about it.

Keyword usage is highly important, how as the prior poster said keep it natural. I mean think about it, if your website is about Hotdog Manufacturing it would only make sense to have that phrase used frequently. The actual ratio of keyword vs total words does not have an exact formula, however if you just keep in mind natural You should be fine. If the phrase is scattered to heavily (keyword stuffing) then you could get penalized. Good luck!

ok Thanks Branagan.

It sure does have an impact, but you probably wouldn't want to "calculate" it, just keep it natural and focus on the user, as long as you do that and you're not trying to manipulate the search engines you should be on the safe side :).
Check point three on the following video:
10 Myths That Scare SEOs But Shouldn't
And remember Google is good at semantics, so even if you feel the need to repeat a concept, you can do that providing a richer user experience without having to worry about specific terms.
Hope it helps!

Totally inaccurate keyword count show on page grader
I've just published a detailed (3000+ words) blog post on AI music and what it means for musicians and artists. It is optimised for the term "AI music" and you can see it here: https://www.scamblermusic.com/ai-music-the-pros-and-cons-explained-by-ai/ When I search the source code of the blog post for "AI music" I see 19 references: code.png When I search the text in the browser window for "AI music" I see 12 references, yet when I run the Moz page grader to check my optimisation Moz downgrades the rating because it's counting 69 keywords: Moz.png I can't work out what Moz is seeing that I am not. Am I missing something really obvious, or is Moz just screwing up (something I haven't seen before with word count)?

How can a page rank for keywords that it does not have on it?
I have a client that is ranking in the top 10 for several keywords on their homepage. Their site has no purposeful SEO in it, there is barely any text on the homepage at all and none of the text are the keywords it is ranking for.

How Does Google Webmaster Tools Come Up with Content Keywords?
When I look at Google Webmaster Tools, in the Content Keywords report there are a couple of ones that are suspect - "prescription", "medications", and "viagra" which are completely unrelated to the content of the site. When I click on the content keyword, and search the source code for those pages, I don't see those words in the source code. Can someone please help me figure out why Google thinks that these keywords are associated with these pages, and how to correct it?

What are your thoughts on keyword density?
Useless metric? Good as an indicator, but not of any real value? Best way to judge how well content is optimised? I've heard all kinds of opinions, what's yours? Thanks!

Several keywords and only one page to posicionate
Hi there! I'm new in SEOMOZ and the SEO world (so excuse me if the question is so elemental.....). I'm having trouble when trying to apply the right seo strategy to one of the page of my companys corporate site. My company offers serveral services in the field of the communications&advertisement. Not being considered as different items in the services menu of the website is a requirement for the company. They want to describe them (all services) in a single page. The problem is that there's one title, one description tag, one url and many relevant keywords related. Should I convince them that this structure is a bad one regarding SEO or there's a way to solve this situation? Thanks in advanced.

How to fix keyword self-cannibalization?
page in question: www.bison-builders.com/lots-plans/bison-meadows-lots-1-6/ This page is the landing page for 6 custom home lots, available via Bison Builders. I fixed the overstuffing of 'Bison Meadows', it was on all image title, alt, etc. Should be right around 15. We are using 'Bison Meadows' as a keyword, because that's the name of the custom community. I don't want to change the names of the links, and I don't want to change the name of the keyword. How do I fix this self-cannibalization? FYI, I was thinking of directing all canonical URLs for individual pages to this page, but will wait til I know how to fix this first... Thank you! Avoid Keyword Self-Cannibalization Easy fix <dl> <dt>Cannibalizing link</dt> <dd>"Bison Meadows Lot 1", "Bison Meadows Lot 2", "Bison Meadows Lot 3", "Bison Meadows Lot 4", "Bison Meadows Lot 5", and "Bison Meadows Lot 6"</dd> <dt>Explanation</dt> <dd>It's a best practice in SEO to target each keyword with a single page on your site (sometimes two if you've already achieved high rankings and are seeking a second, indented listing). To prevent engines from potentially seeing a signal that this page is not the intended ranking target and creating additional competition for your page, we suggest staying away from linking internally to another page with the target keyword(s) as the exact anchor text.
