Increase of Key Word density when adding related products
-
Dear SEOMoz Community,
By means of this message I hope you can clear something up for me.
Let's say you have optimized the content of a specific page (You are an E-Commerce company) on +-2 key words. And on that page you add eight related/similar products. How do you coop with the increase of the key word density?
Thanks in advance,
Martin

Hi Martin,
Firstly, rather than keyword density, be more concerned about keyword frequency compared to your other content.
My view would be to do one of two things
- Add more content - maybe an intro paragraph to that section of e-commerce site or maybe include customer reviews - something helpful and relevant to give your page more meat.
- Vary your product descriptions
I know it's harder in e-commerce when you have similar products, we have a couple of large e-commerce clients and on-page optimisation, potential for accidental 'keyword stuffing' and cannibalization exists because products are so similar, all the best with it and hope this helped.

Anyone Seen Sitelinks for Brand and Product Name?
Hi All, I could be wrong but it appears our site is getting sitelinks for brand name + product name. I understand that this is Google's choice and of course it would be great to have this for all our products. Is this random or an experiment by Google. Please see attached screenshot. All ideas welcome! Jim Aeg2Z

Is there a benefit to hiding words from Google on ecommerce sites?
I think we all know that ecommerce sites have a lot of repeating functional texts on them. Is there a benefit from hiding this text from Google's crawler? Take this page for example, http://storage3.static.itmages.com/i/16/0805/h_1470425505_1090542_224cc344d4.png Some of the most dense words on the page are "Add to cart", "Add to Wishlist", "New", and "Sale". Is there any benefit to hiding those words from Google? The method of hiding I am talking about is not cloaking, but this, https://www.google.com/support/enterprise/static/gsa/docs/admin/70/gsa_doc_set/admin_crawl/preparing.html#1076243 using the google:off index tag. So the content will be there still, but it will not be indexed.

Duplicate pages and slight product variations
Hi, I'm new here, first post... I've started working on an existing Magento website which is selling furniture. There are products such as leather dining chairs which have very detailed product descriptions. The problem is that there is separate a page for every colour the chair comes in (with exactly the same on-page text), so the page is effectively duplicated 5 times, one for red, one for blue etc... This is made even worse by the fact that the website builder has listed the products in multiple different categories. This means that the same basic product description is in use on maybe 20 or so pages. How would you guys deal with product descriptions for multiple, very similar products where only the colour is different? There's also the problem of very similar title tags etc... Thanks for any help. Very much appreciated.

Will Repeating Shipping Info on product pages affect SEO?
Hi Mozzers, Just wondering what your thoughts are on repeating Shipping Info on each product page? Example: http://www.vintageheirloom.com/classic-black-tweed-shoulder-bag-1368793069 I guess I could simply link to the Shipping Page, but it takes the user away from the product page, not good user experience. Other big brand sites seem to do this, but it just struck me this could be looked as duplication. Any thoughts on anything I'm doing wrong, always appreciated. Cheers, Kevin

Too many links on product pages
Hello, What do you do if there are too many links on product pages? With 18 products per page, there's 2 links per product for 120 links on many pages. There's 50 products in many categories, categories are at most 1 click from the home page. Should we use pagination or not? Thanks

Links to Product pages
Hello all, I am still rather new to SEO and learning a lot every day. I do have a question. On our product search result pages (example http://shop.ferguson.com/search/bathroom-lighting)
On-Page Optimization | | Ferguson
It is currently set up so the image, text, price etc of a product is linking to that product page. Our question is, if we were to link the image and the product name - will this be seen as two links to the same page? Is this a bad thing having multiple links to the same page? I searched around to see how other ecommerce sites have similar pages setup and it seems they link the image and also the product name, and the description is not click-able, which allows a user to "Highlight" the text (this is not possible on ours) Which would be to correct approach for SEO as well as User Interface, the way we have it set up, or by going with the method of the question I asked, Thank you for any information on this! Product Page Optimization
I work for an ecommerce site and we are currently in the process of redesigning our product page. Any useful, must-do tips for this? If it helps, our site has both hard goods and apparel that can be imprinted and customized to the buyers liking. Thanks for any help!
