Bizarre PDF URL string
-
Hey folks,
I'm getting literally hundreds of Duplicate Title and Duplicate Content errors for a site, and most of them are a result of the same issue. The site uses javascript container pages a lot, but each gets their own URL. Unfortunately, it seems like each page is also loading all the content for all the other pages, or something.
For instance, I have a section of the site under /for-institutions/, and then there are 5 container pages under that. Each container page has it's own URL, so when you select it, you get the URL /for-institutions/products/ or /for-institutions/services/ etc. However, the institutions container page doesn't change, just the content within.
In my SEO results, I'm getting the following:
/for-institutions/$%7Bpdf%7D/
/for-institutions/$%7Bpdf%7D/$%7Bpdf%7D/ etc, each as a duplicate title and content page. How can I eliminate this? Is there a regular expression that rewrites URL segments beginning with $ ?
For your reference: The page is set up so that any URL that doesn't exist just refers to the subdirectory. /for-institutions/$%7Bpdf%7D/ displays /for-institutions/, but does not rewrite the URL. So too if I were to enter /for-institutions/dog.

I didn't develop the site and I don't currently have FTP access to actually edit the templates, or I could probably eliminate that myself. Thanks! I will figure out exactly what's going on with your help now. I appreciate it.

Did you get a chance to have your developer look at your code? Here's a snippet -
There's another one right above that I suspect also includes some items that aren't parsing.
<fieldset class="question">
<legend>${question}</legend>
{{each answers}}<label for="q${$data.id}a${$index}">${text}</label>
{{/each}}
</fieldset>
It's more than likely template code specific to the MonkCMS that isn't getting processed - perhaps there's not a matching variable / object setup in the system.
You will notice that both sections are currently hidden, so maybe you can just do without them altogether?
-
I'm not familiar with the Monk CMS, but looking at your code, you have some links to:
${pdf} - the %7B and %7D are basically URL encodes for the braces.
My guess is that ${pdf} is supposed to be parsing into a real URL, but it's not happening...

Changed url and now not listing
hi guys I had this page "https://www.stauntonrook.co.uk/marketing-services/offline/corporate-identity/" indexed in google at position 5 for a search term, after some research in the keyword planner I decided to change my url to https://www.stauntonrook.co.uk/marketing-services/offline/logo-design/ because I wanted the keyword in the url. I added a 301 redirect to the htaccess and removed the old page from google using webmaster tools fully expecting the new url to drop back in anytime hopefully in a better position than 5, now after a good week or so, still nothing 😞 also doesn't seem to be in any of the other search engines either I've updated the xml too any ideas?

Help with error: Not Found The requested URL /java/backlinker.php was not found on this server.
Hi all, We got this error for almost a month now. Until now we were outsourcing the webdesign and optimization, and now we are doing it in house, and the previous company did not gave us all the information we should know. And we've been trying to find this error and fix it with no result. Have you encounter this issue before? Did anyone found or knows a solution? Also would this affect our website in terms of SEO and in general. Would be very grateful to hear from you. Many thanks. Here is what appears on the bottom of the site( www.manvanlondon.co.uk) Not Found The requested URL /java/backlinker.php was not found on this server. <address>Apache/2.4.7 (Ubuntu) Server at 01adserver.com Port 80</address> <address> </address> <address> </address>

How does Google look at strings added to a URL
For example: http://localhost:3000/en-US/app/a-knsmtrhqrqs/personal where knsmtrhqrqs is a string Can Google tell this is a string and what's their policy? Will it hurt rankings? Thank you.

ECWID Ecommerce Sites. No Custom URLS?
Is there any way possible to be able to name product urls in website that use ECWID for their ecommerce? They have long and "dirty" urls. For example this running boards site: http://www.runningboards4less.com/general-motors#!/~/product/category=6593890&id=28043027 Isn't this hurting the overall SEO of the site? Especially product pages?

Are URL suffixes ignored by Google? Or is this duplicate content?
Example URLs: www.example.com/great-article-on-dog-hygiene.html www.example.com/great-article-on-dog-hygiene.rt-article.html My IT dept. tells me the second instance of this article would be ignored by Google, but I've found a couple of instances in which Google did index the 'rt-article.html' version of the page. To be fair, I've only found a couple out of MANY. Is it an issue? Thanks, Trisha

How to serve a Mobile & Full Site using one URL?
Hello, Does anyone know of any resources or tutorials that outline how to serve a smartphone-formatted website using the same URL as the full site? I know that one solution is using media-queries to serve a seperate CSS stylesheet, but you still have the full HTML source code. In other words, I might want to serve a smartphone & desktop user different content, but under one URL. WP Touch (Wordpress Plugin) is a perfect example of what I mean, but how is it technically achieved? It serves two different sets of HTML for smartphone & full, but using one URL http://www.bravenewcode.com/store/plugins/wptouch-pro/
