In OpenSiteExplorer, why is HTTPS not an option?
-
Our website (https://www.guardly.com) is using secure HTTPS protocols. For whatever reason, in the "Top Pages" section, OpenSiteExplorer only has pages that were online years ago and hasn't updated its index to retrieve index and show links for HTTPS pages. It's pretty frustrating as we are trying to optimize our website and it's really hard to get feedback/data from the service for new pages on our website. Any comments/thoughts would be really helpful.

It seems Moz completed the required engineering work and the index will build up in the upcoming months.

Hi RKG-Dev -
When we release this you will be able to retrieve https URLs and associated metrics from the API in the same way you currently retrieve http metrics. We will be crawling https URLs at the same time we crawl http URLs so they will be available on the same dates.

As I understand it, the HTTPS crawl data will work it's way into the indexes iteratively over time, and this should start in one of the next few indexes. This means that we should have better and better secure site representation over the next few months. I'll try and keep this thread posted as we see uptake with this.
With regard to the SERP analysis reports, if you are asking about metrics for https pages, this will come along for the ride, as will access via the API, campaigns, and OSE.

Quoting Megan from SEOMoz:
"Hi Peekabo!
This is Megan from the SEOmoz Help Team. Unfortunately, OpenSiteExplorer does not support https at this time. Sorry about that! This also means that any metrics that are gathered by our Mozscape Index (the index for OSE) are going to be for the http version of the site, which includes Page Authority. We hope to support https sites in OSE at some point, but it's probably still a ways out. We'll update this feature request thread as soon as this feature is available, so you can keep an eye on it: https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/20770156-open-site-explorer-to-crawl-https

Error Code 804: HTTPS (SSL) Error Encountered
I'm seeing the following error in Moz as below. I have not seen any errors when crawling with different tools - is this common or is it something that needs to be looked at. SO far I only have info below. Assuming I would need to open a ticket with hosting provider for this? Thanks! Error Code 804: HTTPS (SSL) Error Encountered Your page requires an SSL security certificate to load (using HTTPS), but the Moz Crawler encountered an error when trying to load the certificate. Our crawler is pretty standard, so it's likely that other browsers and crawlers may also encounter this error. If you have this error on your homepage, it prevents the Moz crawler (and some search engines) from crawling the rest of your site.

The right GA account is not populating as an option. Can I redirect to a GA account not listed?
When setting up a campaign, Moz provides a number of Google Analytic options, however not the one that pertains to the specific URL for the campaign. Is there a setting I need to change to allow for the right GA account to populate? Or, can I enter this manually?

Why does mozbar show pagerank sometimes and not opensiteexplorer?
Hello Internet People! I have been using Opensiteexplorer and Mozbar side by side for 2 months now, running comparisons while link building. I have noticed a small problem, in that sometimes, Mozbar will display page rank information while Opensiteexplorer does not. Eventually Opensiteexplorer updated after several days or weeks, showing the same values as Mozbar. Can someone help me understand why this is happening and if it is a problem to trust the tool over the website? Thanks!

Does SEOmoz work for fully secure sites (https)?
We have created a large file sending service (https://digitalpigeon.com) and for obvious reasons we have secured the entire site (we used to have a trial file send form on the homepage so it made sense to secure everything with 301 redirects from http to https) Because we, somewhat naively, started out with a memorable name and domain - Digital Pigeon - where all of our competitors just keyword stuffed their domains we don't really rank for any useful keywords yet. For me, building domain authority via links is more important right now that any on page SEO that is going to be trumped by google's infatuation with domain keywords anyway. Here's the problem though, it seems SEOmoz and even Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools all fail to take into account inbound links for both http and https for any reports or analysis! I'm wondering if utilising SEOmoz PRO for keeping tabs on our MozRank is pointless if it's not accounting for all inbound links

HTTPS site in Open Site Explorer
I'm looking at a site for which the https URL currently ranks in Google. Using a header checker on the http URL I see that it is being 302 redirected to the https version (I have no control or input on this site). In OSE there's no option to specify an https URL as the http part is pre-populated and uneditable. My question is: does OSE treat the https and http version as the same URL? I'm guessing so as the http URL has a lot of domain authority despite not being the "default" URL.
