Should I Edit Sitemap Before Submitting to GWMT?
-
I use the XML sitemap generator at
http://www.auditmypc.com/xml-sitemap.asp
and use the filter that forces the tool to respect robots.txt exclusions. This generator allows me to review the entire sitemap before downloading it. Depending on the site, I often see all kinds of non-content files still listed on the sitemap.
My question is, should I be editing the sitemap to remove every file listed except ones I really want spidered, or just ignore them and let the Google spiderbot figure it all out after I upload-submit the XML?

Ciao
normaly Google read every day the sitemap, for this is better upload a really sitemap and avoid that index some pages with a robots.txt

Protecting sitemaps - Good idea or humbug?
Is there a way to protect your sitemap.xml so that only Google can read it and would it make sense to do this?

What would cause a sudden drop in indexed sitemap pages?
I have made no changes to my site for awhile and on 7/14 I had a 20% drop in indexed pages from the sitemap. However my total indexed pages has stayed the same. What would cause that?

Sitemap coming up in Google's index?
I apologize if this question's answer is glaringly obvious, but I was using Google to view all the pages it has indexed of our site--by searching for our company and then clicking the link that says to display more results for the site. On page three, it has the sitemap indexed as if it wee just another page of our site. <cite>www.stadriemblems.com/sitemap.xml</cite> Is this supposed to happen?

Include pagination in sitemap.xml?
Curious on peoples thoughts around this. Since restructuring our site we have seen a massive uplift in pages indexed and organic traffic with our pagination. But we haven't yet included a sitemap.xml. It's an ancient site that never had one. Given that Google seems to be loving us right now, do we even need a sitemap.xml - aside from the analytical benefis in WM Tools? Would you include pagination URL's (don't worry, we have no duplicate content) in the sitemap.xml? Cheers.

Mobile sitemaps - how much value?
Hi, We have a main www website with a standard sitemap. We also have a m. site for mobile content (the mobile site only contains our top pages and doesn't include the entire site). If a mobile client accesses one of our www pages we redirect to the m. page. If we don't have a m. version we keep them on the www site. Since we already have a www sitemap, is there much value in creating a mobile site map? The mobile site (although missing all pages) is pretty robust and contains most content people are looking for. Will the mobile sitemap help for Mobile searches (more so than our standard sitemap)? I'm also planning on rel canonical the m. pages to the www. pages (per other suggestios on SEOMoz) Thanks
