Does Twitter Feed create backlinks?
-
Hi all,
This morning I have seen a new backlink coming to one of our client's website. I have checked the link and it is a page full of social network feeds. I guess when i tweet something related to their subject it came up on their page and that has became a back link for me .
Here is the link for the page that i get back link: http://www.brandigg.de/nachname/Burns
I don't think this page has a pure link coming to my site but My questions is that does twitter or facebook feeds give back links?
If they are backlinks then are they considered as spam links? I am also trying to recover from penguin update, I was wondering if this could be the reason for my Penguin hit or not.
Thanks for any input in advance,
Seda

Thanks Marijn, I won't disavow the links but I'll keep an eye on these links.

Hi Sida,
Probably the links generated through those social network feeds have a really low authority as the pages they mostly created are just based with thin content en have no links to these pages as well. That's why I wouldn't bother about these links.
-
Thank you Oliver,
I know shortened links have no link juice and i thought that pure links that are posted on social networks have no link juice either - except Google+ posts
The links are created on Social Networks, not exactly created by users, it's actually me posting them but i don't know how Social Networks feeds are considered as. Are they accepted as User Generated Links? If so, it should be ok but if not then i might have an issue

Hi Seda
I have just been doing some research on the passing of link juice from Twitter this morning and came across this article online. http://abertram.com/t-co-no-longer-passing-link-juice/ I have also read that Facebook links have 'no follows' attached to them.
Twitter/Facebook etc are really great for passing traffic to your website. With Opensite explorer showing how many facebook shares, Google +1 button etc then it would be important to keep encouraging genuine customers/clients to share and like the content that you provide on your website.
I would have thought that as long as the links were genuinely created by real Facebook/Twitter users then I wouldn't have thought that the links from Social Media would be a problem (as far as any Penguin penalties went). Any drop in search rankings is more likely to be because of links from websites that Google considers from bad neighbourhoods/link farms etc.
I hope that helps with some of your questions.

Print Button Creating Duplicate PDF URLs set to NoIndex, OK for SEO?
Our real estate website has 400 listings. We have added a button that allows the visitor to print listing pages in the for.m of a PDF. The PDF exists as a URL ending in ?print=17076. This print URL is set to noindex and follow. So our site has 400 additional URLs. Is this a negative for SEO? Or neutral? I have read it using CSS it is possible to set up printing without creating all these extra URLs. Is this method better from an SEO perspective? Thanks, Alan

Losing backlinks between http and https
Late last year, Shopify moved all their sites from http to https. I did an audit of a Shopify site recently and discovered the following... The https version of the site has just 13 backlinks from 5 domains The http version of the site has 568 backlinks from 48 domains So I went into the blog (which is on a different domain - long story) and changed all the backlinks from http to https. One week later... the https version of the site now has 278 backlinks from the same 5 domains. I've been told that Google doesn't worry about this when it comes to rankings. Not sure if this is true or not. But I definitely believe this DOES affect MOZ Domain Authority. Can anybody confirm or deny this? If the backlinks do not change from http to https following a migration, does this impact MOZ Domain Authority and/or Google rankings?

Anyone actually getting a noticeable SEO boost from a Bitly or TinyURL backlink?
Hi, I'm looking for an example/use case of someone whose site has been linked to from another using a Bitly, or other generic URL shortener link. I'm specifically interested in proving/disproving the value of the backlink in terms of boost in SEO rankings. Ideally you somehow got a juicy backlink from a reputable site, but they accidentally linked to you using a Bitly or something, yet you saw a noticeable increase in your pages search rankings, thus proving the value of a Bitly link still passing all SEO value. Or alternatively, you got that juicy backlink and noticed nothing at all, or not much, and are frustrated that they used a BItly. I'm launching a study on this soon to identify the possible value behind short links as backlinks. Yes, I know that Matt Cutts says all short links are 301 redirects which passes something like 99.9% of link juice. I'd just like to see some use cases on this. Thanks!

The Value of Backlinks - Blog posts
Alright, So I'm trying to understand the value of a backlink from a blogger/site owner. Now, as I know, (let's use fashion industry), there are thousands of fashion bloggers with good metrics... Domain Authority 40+ Page Authority 40+ etc. etc. for their home page. And there are THOUSANDS of fashion bloggers that link back to ecommerce sites (backlinks). My question is, is there really much of a value with these backlinks? Sure, the domain authority and page authority is high ( for the given example), BUT wouldn't the page authority automatically be a 1 for a "post" ? Le'ts say one blogger writes a new blog for July 14th and dedicates that blog post about the awesome shoes they have and it links back to an ecommerce site; well, what impact does that make in regards to SEO? And if it does, how long would that take? The biggest issue I see is the ROI. You link build, you get links - and then ....you wait. Or you hope that you'll move up in rankings, but yet they can take months for it to even move the needle. Especially the fact that if it's not a HOME PAGE link...there isn't that "much" of a boost compared to an internal page? So then the NEXT question I have too, wouldn't influencer outreach be the same as far as getting a PBN link, creating web 2.0's, etc.? Let's think about it. You're outreaching to someone so you can benefit something back. It's all unnatural at the end of the day. Would love to discuss. So in summary 1 - Value of influencer outreach links - especially if the post is a brand new content piece.. (page authority being automatically 1) 2- - What exactly IS white hat when really any type of link building is mimicking?

Backlink for Old publised Article
Hi There, Suppose if a website abc.com published an article in 2014 and that article got indexed after few days as Google normally do. If we give backlink from abc.com article published in 2014 to recently published website, Is there issue if backlink given? or If the abc.com article contented updated first and then backlink is given, that would be the correct way? because updated content will re-index and at the time of re-indexing backlink will be fount by Google bot. Getting backlinks without content marketing
Hey i have a client who currently has a large ecommerce store with over 50,000 hits a months. I've made the recommendation that they should consider adding a blog and invest in content activities. However they won't be able to do so for quite some time. In the mean time what are some ways i can get backlinks (whitehat only). I'm thinking guest posting on high DA blogs and sites is the best bet. Also sponsorship, CSR activties, and the occasional press release. Can anyone recommend any other ways, or methods i can use to obtain good quality links, or articles which discuss this topic. Thanks, Mark
