Does Twitter Feed create backlinks?
-
Hi all,
This morning I have seen a new backlink coming to one of our client's website. I have checked the link and it is a page full of social network feeds. I guess when i tweet something related to their subject it came up on their page and that has became a back link for me .
Here is the link for the page that i get back link: http://www.brandigg.de/nachname/Burns
I don't think this page has a pure link coming to my site but My questions is that does twitter or facebook feeds give back links?
If they are backlinks then are they considered as spam links? I am also trying to recover from penguin update, I was wondering if this could be the reason for my Penguin hit or not.
Thanks for any input in advance,
Seda

Thanks Marijn, I won't disavow the links but I'll keep an eye on these links.

Hi Sida,
Probably the links generated through those social network feeds have a really low authority as the pages they mostly created are just based with thin content en have no links to these pages as well. That's why I wouldn't bother about these links.
-
Thank you Oliver,
I know shortened links have no link juice and i thought that pure links that are posted on social networks have no link juice either - except Google+ posts
The links are created on Social Networks, not exactly created by users, it's actually me posting them but i don't know how Social Networks feeds are considered as. Are they accepted as User Generated Links? If so, it should be ok but if not then i might have an issue

Hi Seda
I have just been doing some research on the passing of link juice from Twitter this morning and came across this article online. http://abertram.com/t-co-no-longer-passing-link-juice/ I have also read that Facebook links have 'no follows' attached to them.
Twitter/Facebook etc are really great for passing traffic to your website. With Opensite explorer showing how many facebook shares, Google +1 button etc then it would be important to keep encouraging genuine customers/clients to share and like the content that you provide on your website.
I would have thought that as long as the links were genuinely created by real Facebook/Twitter users then I wouldn't have thought that the links from Social Media would be a problem (as far as any Penguin penalties went). Any drop in search rankings is more likely to be because of links from websites that Google considers from bad neighbourhoods/link farms etc.
I hope that helps with some of your questions.

Electricity company - automatic backlinks from tables embedded on third party websites
Hi guys, I'm working for an electricity company and they want businesses to embed "live energy saving tables" where they choose to, on their website - each table links back to the electricity company. Now I'm only comfortable with editorially given links these days, rather than "you choose to embed this table and it will link back to us - that's the arrangement" set ups - even when they're not using anchor text. What are your thoughts? Thanks, Luke

Lost trafic with Backlink
Hi Moz experts, We lost drastic trafic from two links of our partner. Do you know what could be the reason ? It is not the main source of trafic, we talk about 2% but our partner is really interest to see the add-value of this link to our website. Thank you in advance for your consta 1. Do you know if the partner need to update his sitemap when you send it the links ? 2. Do you know if the lastest update ( Between octobre 2014 to august 2014) of Google algirthm has an impact ? 3. We update our new website on november. However, we lost trafic in october and in august? So, do you think I need to take action on my side ? What your recommandation Moz experts ?

Long urls created by filters (not with query parameters)
A website adds subfolders to a category URL for each filter that's selected. In a crawl of the website some of these URLs reach over 400 characters. For example, if I select shoe size 5, 5.5 and 6, white and blue colour, price $70-$100, heel and platform styles, the URL will be as follows: www.example.com/shoes/womens/filters/shoe-size--5--5.5--6/color--white--blue/price--70-100/style--heel--platform There is a canonical that points to www.example.com/shoes/womens/ so it isn't a duplicate content issue. But these URLs still get crawled. How would you handle this? It's not a great system so I'm tempted to tell them to start over with best practice recommendations, but maybe I should just tell them to block the "/filters/" folder from crawlers? For some products however, filtered content would be worth having in search indexes (e.g. colour).

50,000 backlinks in webmaster tools from one site???
Hi All, I'm new to evaluating backlinks, but I just saw I got over 50,000 links from a backlink that was added on ONE page at this site here: http://www.netnewspublisherDOTcom. I presume this is not a good thing, and if I contact them to remove the one link on the one page, it won't solve the other 49,999 links that Google is seeing pointing to us, so what do I do??. Should I contact them and ask to remove it and see if they don't and then disavow? Or would you just tell Google to disavow the whole site? Thanks!

Getting backlinks without content marketing
Hey i have a client who currently has a large ecommerce store with over 50,000 hits a months. I've made the recommendation that they should consider adding a blog and invest in content activities. However they won't be able to do so for quite some time. In the mean time what are some ways i can get backlinks (whitehat only). I'm thinking guest posting on high DA blogs and sites is the best bet. Also sponsorship, CSR activties, and the occasional press release. Can anyone recommend any other ways, or methods i can use to obtain good quality links, or articles which discuss this topic. Thanks, Mark

SEO value in multiple backlinks from same domain and from various sub-domains.
A site has a link to my site as one of their main tabs, which means whenever a user clicks through to another page within the site, my link - being a main tab - is there. This creates thousands of links from this site. How does Google treat this? Do we have a rough formula estimate. In other words, assume it creates 1,000 backlinks would the SEO value be around the same as if I had just 2 link total as a main tab, but on 2 different non-related sites? Or, does it actually count fully as 1,000 links? Links from various sub-domains. Several .EDU's are linking to my site. Different schools within the overall same university. Example: nursing.abc.edu links to my site, but so does business.abc.edu. For SEO does that count as much as if I had links from complete non-related universities, or would Google evaluate that these links are related (since same main domain) and that will discount any links more than 1 to some extent? If discounted, then what do we estimate the discount to be? thank yoyu

Natural Backlink
What is a natural backlink? is it a backlink that someone gave a site for their great content? (this is what my common sense tells me) and this is what someone else's opinion is: No, quality backlinks are the one which are highly relevant, is from a high PR page. However, a natural backlink is the one which is within the body of the page, which is surrounded by relevant text, you can also call it a contextual link. Except links which are placed on a resource page which have no content in it and links which are placed under blogroll etc. this dosent even make sense to me : )
