HTML Improvements is not updated
-
Hi,
I am using Google Webmaster to check 'HTML Improvements' errors and found that I have many Duplicate meta descriptions errors. I think that they occurred because I have change some **old URLs **to **new URLs **and then use redirect 301. This lead meta description of **old URLs **duplicate with meta description of new URLs. For example: old URL: www.abc.com/this-is-a-url--1.html and new URL: www.abc.com/this-is-a-url.html. And then use redirect 301 from www.abc.com/this-is-a-url--1.html to www.abc.com/this-is-a-url.html
Who did face this problem? Please help me how to fix this? Thanks

No, I'd just wait for it to drop out on its own and not try to inadvertently mess things up.

Should I remove www.abc.com/this-is-a-url--1.html from Google use Remove URL - google webmaster tool?
Thanks

Your tactics on improving organic search for a site in a struggling industry
We work with a client of ours with organic search initiatives. The problem is: the industry (e.g. the core of the business) is sagging. It has been for a couple of years. And they're finally feeling these sagging losses. Google Trends support this and shows it quite nicely. It pretty much mirrors organic search referrals as well. The industry (e.g. the core phrase that the company and its competitors have historically hit very hard) as well as Google Trends for the client (middle of the pack) and their two big competitors are attached. Wondering if anyone else has had this type of circumstance with their clients and some of their go to tactics that helped them stop the skid (and even make it start going up). Improving the search function on my site...
Hi all, The search function on my site is pretty bad... it basically lists every single product for any search query. Has anyone got experience integrating a 3rd party tool such as Google Custom Search or Pardot and if so which would you recommend? Alternatively, any tips on improving/ creating rules for site search would be appreciated. https://www.boardwarehouse.co.uk/ Thanks, Alick

The correct way to go from PHP site to HTML site?
I have a website fully coded in PHP and I am doing a re-design over to an HTML site. I searched through the Q&A and there were some conflicting answers. Some said you will need to 301 all the pages. Others said to use the .htaccess to parse all the files as html. What is the correct way I should go about this? Thanks in advance!

Is it ok to point internal links to index.html home page rather than full www
I thought I saw this somewhere on SEOmoz before but I was so busy by the time I got around to work on my SEO on my site, I realized I have this happening and can't recall if it is a problem which takes away from my ranking. If my www.website.com is ranking well but I have internal menu links pointing to www.website.com/index.html instead of www.website.com will that take away from my www.website.com rankings? Should I change all my menu links that point to /index.html to the full website url path www.website.com ?

What to do with old content in light of the Panda update?
Let's say you operate a laptop review website. After several years, the individual product review URL's (like site.com/dell/xp1234-review/) aren't receiving much traffic, they may have a few links here and there. In general and considering the panda update, would the best option be to 301 the old URL's back to the category page (site.com/dell/)or just keep them where they are? Any potential issues like having excessive 301's which could slow down the site or appear fishy to search engines?
