What to with an event page that is over?
-
Hi,
We participated in an event and it is now over and therefore it has to be removed now. I was thinking of writing a blog post about the event and place a 301 redirect on the page enlisting the event's detail and registration process.
Would it be a good idea or should I do something else?
Regards,
-
Depending if it's a one-off or recurring event, you could also include a summary of what took place, and some teaser copy for next year: "Look at what you missed, watch this space for the 2014 conference" or some such.
Otherwise 301 redirects are probably the way to go.

Hi Shailendra!
This sounds like a good idea if you expect to receive additional traffic towards this page. If not, you could always do a 301 Redirect to an events overview or something like that.
Best regards,
Anders

How to rank a product page
Hello, I have a product page and just did a little introduction ( 5 lines of text) but I have the feeling this is not enough for google. What is the solution ? Is it to increase the amount of content even though it is not going to be user friendly ? Or will google look at the product page I link too and take into account the content on those subpages to boost my "pillar / product page". Thank you,

Last slow to cached pages?
Hi Guys, A lot of our pages we updated with new category based content on our e-commerce site I noticed haven't been cached for a while like This is Google's cache of https://www.domain.com/makeup/eyes/mascara. It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on 15 Jun 2017 11:37:52 GMT. Does this mean that google hasn't reviewed this page yet? Could this be due to poor internally linking or something? Cheers.

URL: example.com/formula-1
Content: ContentPageA Desired situation: Page A
URL: example.com/formula-1
Content: NEW CONTENT! Page B
URL: example.com/formula-1-news
Content: ContentPageA (The content that was in Page A!) Content of the two pages will be about the same argument (& same keyword) but non-duplicate. The new content in page A is more optimized for search engines. How long will it take for the page to rank better?0 -
How does this company rank this page?
If you Google the keyword "used iPhone 5," the URL ranking #1 in the SERP is the following: http://buy.gazelle.com/buy-used-iphone-5/ This page has zero content on it and a button on it that takes you to a category page with the iPhone 5 pre selected. My question is **how does this page outrank the sites products pages? **I ran a backlink analysis and don't see any links pointing to that URL. Also, **how does this site deal with its duplicate content issues? **If you look at the following URLs, you'll see a bunch of duplicate content in the "Key Features" section below the fold. http://buy.gazelle.com/buy/used/iphone-5-16gb-at-t http://buy.gazelle.com/buy/used/iphone-5-16gb-sprint If you think about it, this site will have different product pages for each variations of cellphone carrier and cellphone storage capacity. So for an iPhone 5, they will have 15 pages! Any insight into this would be much appreciated!

Help with duplicate pages
Hi there, I have a client who's site I am currently reviewing prior to a SEO campaign. They still work with the development team who built the site (not my company). I have discovered 311 instances of duplicate content within the crawl report. The duplicate content appears to either be 1, 2, or 3 versions of the same pages but with differing URL's. Example: http://www.sitename.com http://sitename.com http://sitename.com/index.php And other pages follow a similar or same pattern. I suppose my question is mainly what could be causing this and how can I fix it? Or, is it something that will have to be fixed by the website developers? Thanks in advance Darren

Dealing with past events
Hi We have a website which lists both upcoming and past events. Currently everything is indexed by google, with no real issues (usually it finds the most up-to-date events) and we have deprioritised the past events in the sitemap. Do I need to go one step further and noindex events which are past or just leave it as-is? They dont really hold much value, but sometimes will have a number of incoming links and social media shares pointing to them. We want to keep the page active for visitors, just wondering about google (there's no real link between past events and future either, so difficult to 'point' to newer version of an event) We have approx 1M 'past' events and growing so its a big change. Also would you keep them in sitemap with lower priority, or just remove them? EDIT: Just seen a Matt Cutts post from 2014 which indicates than an 'unavailable_after' meta tag might be best?

Google Filter? Drop from top first page to bottom second page?
My site has dropped from the first page top spots to the bottom second page, about 2 month ago. From time to time it reappears in the first page, is this some kind of google filter? How do I solve this issue?

Additional Pages in SERP
Hi Mozers, Can anybody help me with this. For "keyword phrase" SERP looks like this: 1. keyword.com/page1 2. keyword.com/page2 3. Mysite.com/page1 4. mysite.com/page2 ... 13. Mysite.com/page3 14. Mysite.com/page4 Is it possible to include Mysite.com/page3-4 both to the top 4th-5th, or better merge this pages and promote only one? Thanks.
