Could a partial repost outrank my original post?
-
A blogger asked to repost one of my articles. I said they could if they used rel="canonical"
However, they're on blogger and not too technically skilled. They couldn't figure it out, so I suggested just reposting part of the article.
Here's their repost: http://ditchyourfridge.blogspot.ca/2013/07/graeme-blake-living-without-home.html
Is this a good idea or a bad idea?
-
Hi Graeme
No need to worry about it. Either way, youll get the extra traffic which is a bonus
-
It isn't a bad idea at all. That page actually links to your site and even adds the "continue reading" text. That's a link earned! And that's how we all should "build" links.

Should products descriptions be made in to blog posts?
Howdy, Here's a situation I got myself into. For the past few months, I've been planning to start up an e-commerce business. I've got my homework done - created product design, wrote value-adding product descriptions and a few regular blog posts in order to start providing content right away. Recently, I've got some news that the product I was about to sell won't be arriving for at least a month longer. Here's what I am considering: In order to make the start of the business smoother and gain attention quicker, it would make sense to start building a presence in advance. What I am considering now is instead of using the product descriptions I have for their original purpose, I could make them into a handful of blog posts with WordPress. I am relatively sure that with proper promotion, people would find them interesting, as they answer common industry questions in a unique, entertaining way. However, I am not sure what implications would such move have for my business in the longer term, especially when it actually starts selling products. I would switch to the Shopify platform, which would probably mean I would have to transfer my blog posts onto another platform? Maybe I should just wait till I have all my products ready and stick with the plan, instead of using the content I have for the blog right now? If I should indeed go through with the blog first, what content would I later put in the product descriptions and what are the possible SEO consequences? I hope it is at least somewhat clear what my situation is. Thank you in advance for the help.

What to do with thin Job-Posts with little information?
Hi everyone, I'm currently doing some audit on an Seeking Job Ads site, and having some problems on what to do with ads that are imported from a "news paper" that have so little information to add. A regular ad has enough information to difference itself from another with the following data: Summary
Technical SEO | | JoaoCJ
Duties
Qualifications On the other hand, an imported ad from a news paper since it has little room for content, it may look like this: "Company N" looking for an engineer with 2 years of experience call us at: 923xxxxxx Since there is little information, i'm getting some trouble on moz crawling - duplicated content due to the lack of content which makes this kind of ads look way too similar. So I'm wondering what can I do with this kind of ads. Option 1: Adding No follow | No index
Option 2: Making a random mix of other related job ads Any help would be much appreaciated it. Joao.0 -
Partial duplicate content (reviews) on product pages - is this ok?
Hello, we recently received some really good reviews about a range of products we sell (there are normally 8 products in a range). Due to the industry we are in it made no sense to try and get reviews on each individual product within the range as they differ only ever so slightly. So my question is we want to add these reviews to each of the 8 products that lie within each range, but by adding them it would mean that each page has around 600 words of unique product description followed by approx 600 words of reviews that are the same on each of the products within that range. Is this ok? my only other option would be to screenshot the reviews and upload them as images below each product description. If anyone could offer advice here that would be much appreciated. Thanks

Is it appropriate to use canonical for a yearly post with similar content?
I've begun writing an annual review of local business directories. Post from 2012 is here: http://web.servicecrowd.com.au/blog/top-10-australian-business-directories-in-2012/ New 2014 post is here: http://web.servicecrowd.com.au/blog/top-10-australian-business-directories-2014/ Is this appropriate use? Next year the post will be similar, but different metrics reported and slightly different review. Side note: For some reason the post hasn't been indexed by Google yet. Usually new posts are indexed as soon as they are shared on social media.

Is this duplicate content when there is a link back to the original content?
Hello, My question is: Is it duplicate content when there is a link back to the original content? For example, here is the original page: http://www.saugstrup.org/en-ny-content-marketing-case-infografik/. But that same content can be found here: http://www.kommunikationsforum.dk/anders-saugstrup/blog/en-ny-content-marketing-case-til-dig, but there is a link back to the original content. Is it still duplicate content? Thanks in advance.

Should you claim authorship on guest posts?
Suppose you write a guest post for an authoritative site, is it beneficial to claim authorship of the article by linking to your Google Plus profile and adding the site to your account as a site you contribute to? If yes, would you do this for dozens of sites? (since your contributor list could get really long).

Ranking via partial match
If I wanted to rank for "red hot widgets" and my domain was redhot.com, would it be better to obtain backlinks (via "red hot widgets" anchor text) pointing to: A) redhot.com (homepage) or B) redhot.com/widgets Many thanks.
