H1 tag options

Hi,
Working on a website and the developer has asked some questions about the h1 tag placement...
So the main page has a bold heading named 'Overview' which then has a left hand navigation to tab through the content which appears next to the nav. The main content then has a heading and content below it.
The 'Overview' heading appears on all pages of the left nav so really shouldn't be the H1 tag as it would cause duplication.
One option we have thought about is to have the right hand heading above the content be the h1, and it has been suggested to stylize the 'Overview' heading but it won't actually be an h1. My question is would this have any negative impact on SEO?

I think we're going to have to go down the route of styling the heading to look like an h1 and then use the heading which is related to the content to be the h1 to avoid duplication and the make best use of the header tag.

H1 is a tag search engines use to help identify what your page is about. Using "overview" for all H1 would imply that your site is about "overview." (Ok, I'm dumbing it down a little bit, but I'm doing it to make a point.)
The more specific an H1 tag can be to the content of a page, the better. It's easier for search engines to understand your page and it's a better user experience (how valuable is "overview" all over the place?).

No negative impact. Unless it's a one service/product website, the heading "Overview" would not be the best use of the tag. This would be something more like "Real Estate Refinancing Product Overview" or something much more descriptive of what is to follow.
Utilization of H2's and H3's will also be useful towards structuring the overview page.
Duplication would be my secondary concern. After running many site audits this year, I have seen how many sites have duplicated heading tags as a result of how it was built into the site theme/design. My recommendation is to make h1's an editable field at the page level, rather than generate automatically, or, style it remove the tag from page heading's (as you suggested), this would be the next best option.

No H1 tag in wordpress, what are the implications?
When checking my blog posts I noticed that they don't contain any H1 tags. This confused me as I'd heard that wordpress automatically puts H1 tags on your blog post titles. Is this something that might negatively affect my rankings? If an H1 tag is absent, does the H2 tag take center stage so to speak? Is this something my wordpress theme does and how can I fix it? Does Title Tag location in a page's source code matter?

Does the location of the title tag, meta tags, and any structured data have any influence with respect to SEO and search engines? Put another way, could we benefit from moving the title tag up to the top?
I "surfed 'n surfed" and could not find any articles about this.
I would really appreciate any help on this as our site got decimated organically last May and we are looking for any help with SEO.

Google Tag Manager - Debug Mode
Hi I am in the process of implementing Tag Manager across one of the sites that I manage. But it is a very large site so we have taken the decision to implement it on a number of important pages first and then update the rest of the site incrementally. The pages that we have chosen to implement GTM on are confirmation pages as we use double click floodlight tags to track a lot of our conversions. However when I go into debug mode on tag manager I can not seem to get the screen that lets you know if the tag is firing or not. Has anyone else had this problem? Could this be because I don't have GTM code on the homepage of the site? When I implemented Tag manager on other sites that I managed I had no such problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Logos and H1 Tags
Would you ever wrap a Logo in an H1 tag? The logo is an image, but is in an area that would cause it to make the most sense when forming my page into a proper hierarchy format. Thanks in advance for any help!

Optimum title and description meta tag length
Hi all, I have read that a title tag and description tag length of 69 and 156 characters respectively, should be used as this is all that Google will show in the search results, but that search engine robots will read longer titles and descriptions and additional characters will have an effect on ranking algorithms. However, is there any SEO benefit in making title and description tags longer to include more keywords to aid ranking, even though the latter part won't be visible in the results. I have read elsewhere on this forum that there may be concerns with regards to keyword dilution, but what about keyword reinforcement, i.e. by a repetition of the main keyword at the end of the title/description (I mean in a readable manner here, not 'stuffed')? Img before or after h1 tag?
I like images to align right at top of content page. img tag before h1 tag looks better on page, but wondering if h1 tag before img tag is preferred by spider. Irrelevant? or possibly matters? thanks for any thoughts.
