Temporary Redirects - Trackback & Feed
-
Under my MOZ account I'm getting a bunch of temporary redirect warnings. Most of them are blog post with a /feed or a /trackback . I know the trackback URL's are coming from blogs where people have commented because it brings up a Trackback URL | Comments RSS Feed section. I'm not sure how to make this /trackback work. The only line of code in my editor that says trackback is
h3#postinfo,
h3#comments,
h3#respond,
h3#trackbacks,
#respond h3 {
margin: 0;

Hello Andrew,
If you are on Wordpress here is an article explaining how to disable trackbacks/pings, which I advise doing for most sites. It also shares how to remove trackbacks from previous posts by running a SQL query on your database.
Alternatively, if you want to get the pagerank to pass through those links (inadvisable since 99% of them will be spammy, in my experience) you can change the redirect to a 301. See this Yoast article for more info on how to do that. It was written in 2007, but Joose de Valk is ahead of his time and I think it still works.
Every CMS is different so if you're not on WP please let us know what you're using. Of course you can always just block the /trackbacks/ directory from being indexed or crawled via the robots.txt file. I wouldn't do that with the /feeds/ directory though, as I find them useful.

301 Redirects from Subdomain to Location Pages
I have a client site that is getting redesigned. Its a multi location service provider. Currently (for whatever reason) the location pages are sub domains. https://<location-name>.site.com/ In the new design the locations will be on the main domain. https://site.com/locations/<location-name> We are considering using 301 redirects from the current sub domains to the new location pages on the main domain. The current sub domains are setup on a multi-site with A records for each one in our GoDaddy account. Would like to get feedback on any unforeseen SEO issues that anyone might have input on.

Bulk redirection of blogs
Hi all, we're going to changing the url structure of our website. Moving from: /news-and-views/blog/thisistheblogpost to /blog/thisistheblogpost (ie removing the /news-and-views/ portion of the url). There's approximately 300 posts. I have 2 questions - will this have an impact on domain wide authority? and is bulk 301 redirects the best solution? The blogs themselves don't get a huge amount of traffic but we just want to make sure we don't do something that will be penalized by search engines.

Bing & JavaScript?
Hi Moz Community, Are Bing/Yahoo crawlers different from Google’s crawler in terms of how they process client side JavaScript and especially content/data loaded by client side JavaScript? Thanks,

Badges & SEO
Hello, Moz Community! We're working on creating an affiliate badge for events that make our best-of list and we're wondering: if every event website embedded the badge (could be as many as 70), would having the same image hosting URL for each one raise concerns with Google? Thanks!

Direct link vs 302 redirect
So we have recently relaunched a site that we manage. As part of this we have changed the domain. The webdesign agency that built the new site have implemented a direct link from the old domain to the new domain. What is best practice a direct link or a 302 redirect? Thanks

Redirect a page intended for iframe
we built an interactive calculator that gets iframe embedded in our blog and landing pages. the blog that embeds it is doing well the problem is that the iframe source html page is also indexed by google and is on the second page of results. which we don't want as it doesn't have any context/branding/call to action/etc. if i put a noindex meta tag on the iframe html source page, will that remove the indexing of the pages that consume it in an iframe?

Compare URLs with 302 redirects
Hello I have a store which was developed in Magento. I have about 8300 errors like this: URL: http://www.theprinterdepo.com/catalog/product_compare/add/product/100/uenc/aHR0cDovL3d3dy50aGVwcmludGVyZGVwby5jb20vcHJpbnRlci1wYXJ0cy5odG1sP3A9NA,,/ 1 Warning 302 (Temporary Redirect) Found 3 days ago <dl> <dt>Redirects to</dt> <dt>http://goo.gl/XMaZg</dt> <dd>Description</dd> <dd>Using a 302 redirect will cause search engine crawlers to treat the redirect as temporary and not pass any link juice (ranking power). We highly recommend that you replace 302 redirects with 301 redirects.</dd> </dl> <a class="more expanded">Minimize</a> These URLs, are generated by magento by the COMPARE feature. In my store we bought an extension called SEO Enterprise Suite and I asked the developers(www.mageworx) about this error. Their answer is: Sorry for the late reply. Our extension adds NOINDEX,FOLLOW tag to compare and cookies pages so that they won't be indexed. I do not think that these redirects can hurt your SEO because these pages won't be indexed at all. The question is: What should I do? Is there anyway that SEOMOZ ignores these URLs? What should I do next, I just dont like to have that HIGH number of errors and warnings. Thank you
