New Google AdWords Keyword Tool - What Can We Do?
-
What options do we have for keyword research now that Google is switching from the Google AdWords Keyword Tool to the Keyword Planner??

Seems lot of collegues have issues with it indeed. Regarding the keyword planner tool it takes more steps to have the overview the old tool supplied. Change in data is that the app changed form broad to exact results. I believe a lot of testing is the way to go and to verify this with your old data. Furthermore I came a tool called Seocockpit, may be that helps. Reviews are fine anyway. Hope this helps ..

Here's some more disgruntled users in a thread a few posts ahead of yours: http://moz.com/community/q/anyone-else-frustrated-with-the-new-keyword-planner
One of the users mentions Jaxxy and Bing. Options look scarce.

Bing Webmaster Tools offers a similar tool. While it isn't as good as Google's previous keyword tool because there aren't as many people searching on Bing; it works very much like the old Google Keyword Tool. The chief differences IMO are that you can't easily select certain keywords to download (however, you can download quickly), and Bing Uses "Strict" search rather than Exact/Broad/Phrase match.
I think Duane Forrester and the people at Bing appreciate what SEO'ers do and want to help them create a better search environment.

The best feature IMO of the keyword tool was the keyword suggestion element.
I guess Google doesn't want to give up too much for free.
I'd also like any good ideas!

While I haven't used the new tool much, what I have used has shown me that it won't be very effective for down-and-dirty type searches. (i.e., quickly doing keyword research for a specific page). This is because you no longer have the ability to click a checkbox and download options.
I believe that the best options will be to use the Keyword Planner when doing comprehensive research. For those who can afford it, using a paid service may be a good option.
I think that this is more proof that Google wants to steer more people towards paid advertising. And while they won't admit it, Google doesn't see the value of offering a free tool that is focused on improving organic rankings.

Having used the planner quite a bit, i have to say it has a lot of plusses. I love the geotargeting feature that is more precise, etc. I think we all saw it as change.... but, not too bad. One nice thing is it actually will save some of the data so that if you leave the page accidentally you are not crying. When you come back it asks if you wish to start new or resume.
So, I suggest taking it around the block a couple of times.

Keyword explorer
Hello, I was trying the keyword explore and got some questions : I first used it with all the search terms for the keyword "italy bike tours" and came across terms like this one "tuscany bike tours florence italy" Does it mean I have to include this exact expression in my content or do I just need to include somewhere in my content the words tuscany and florence ? Then I did the same search but this time with closely related keywords and the keyword explorer give me the word "pasticceria" or "tirrenia" are being closely related to the keyword italy bike ... How does the keyword explorer find those words because I don't see how those can be related... If someone could explain that would be awesome. Thank you,

Keyword Rankings: One keyword dropped, dragging other rankings down. Possible or not?
Hey moz fans, So these week I noticed significant drop in rankings... But what caught my attention is that one specific keyword dropped 18 positions, and all the other just 1-3. Print screen: http://prntscr.com/7fb4g4 Do you think it's possible that the drop of that page, that went 18 positions down, brought the whole domain down? Or is it another cause?

Google Is Indexing The Wrong Page For My Keyword
For a long time (almost 3 mounth) google indexing the wrong page for my main keyword.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Tiedemann_Anselm
The problem is that each time google indexed another page each time for a period of 4-7 days, Sometimes i see the home page, sometimes a category page and sometimes a product page.
It seems though Google has not yet decided what his favorite / better page for this keyword. This is the pages google index: (In most cases you can find the site on the second or third page) Main Page: http://bit.ly/19fOqDh Category Page: http://bit.ly/1ebpiRn Another Category: http://bit.ly/K3MZl4 Product Page: http://bit.ly/1c73B1s All links I get to the website are natural links, therefore in most cases the anchor we got is the website name. In addition I have many links I get from bloggers that asked to do a review on one of my products, I'm very careful about that and so I'm always checking the blogger and their website only if it is something good, I allowed it. also i never ask for a link back (must of the time i receive without asking), and as I said, most of their links are anchor with my website name. Here some example of links that i received from bloggers: http://bit.ly/1hF0pQb http://bit.ly/1a8ogT1 http://bit.ly/1bqqRr8 http://bit.ly/1c5QeC7 http://bit.ly/1gXgzXJ Please Can I get a recommendation what should you do?
Should I try to change the anchor of the link?
Do I need to not allow bloggers to make a review on my products? I'd love to hear what you recommend,
Thanks for the help0 -
Bypassing Google, Data Highlighter and Webmaster tools
eLLo! Has anyone used Data Highlighter? I've had colleagues mentioning a jump in CTR after using the data highlighter on pages. Thought I'll do the same and went into my webmaster tools but I've hit a brick wall. Whenever I highlight a product page, my country selector pops up and I'm unable to highlight a product page. A colleague of mine mentioned to bypass google by basing it on user agent, this will allow you to avoid the country selector. But if I bypass Google, wouldn't it affect Google Analytics, Indexing etc?

E-commerce Adding New Content - Blog vs New Page
I have an ecommerce site (www.brick-anew.com) focused on Fireplace products and we also have a separate blog (fireplacedecorating.com) focused on fireplace decorating. My ecommerce site needs new content, pages, internal links, etc... for more Google love, attention, and rankings. My question is this: Should I add a blog to the ecommerce site for creating new content or should I just add and create new pages? I have lots of ideas for relevant new content related to fireplaces. Are there any SEO benefits to a blog over new static pages? Thanks! SAM

Getting a site to rank in both google.com and google.co.uk
I have a client who runs a yacht delivery company. He gets business from the US and the UK but due to the nature of his business, he isn't really based anywhere except in the middle of the ocean somewhere! His site is hosted in the US, and it's a .com. I haven't set any geographical targeting in webmaster tools either. We're starting to get some rankings in google US, but very little in google UK. It's a small site anyway, and he'd prefer not to have too much content on the site saying he's UK based as he's not really based anywhere. Any ideas on how best to approach this?
