How long for SEOMoz to reflect new inbound links?
-
I have carried out some minor link building for my new site (site A) and have some links back from several directories and 1 from ezine and one from squidoo as well as a few partner sites and such.
I also have another site (site B) which was linking to site A several times from a footer link, this has now been amended to just one link.
The problem is that SEOmoz still only shows 3 linking domains to site A (there are at least 12 if you perform a manual search) and it is still showing many links from site B even though there is now only one.
All these changes where made at least 3 weeks ago, how long before Seomoz picks them up.

It can actually take up to sixty days (two crawls) for the links to show up, if you happened to have built links right as one of the crawls was finishing. Unlike Google, Linkscape (in the past) crawls about once a month -- spends a couple of weeks crawling then a couple of weeks processing. Your links should have shown up by now for sure, let us know if they haven't for some reason.
-
The last update of OpenSiteExplorer was on June 6th, which is likely why you haven't seen the changes. The next update of OSE will be later this month, and those links should be picked up with the fresh crawl.
-
Over 4 weeks later and SEOmoz still not showing any new backlinks to my site, I have tested other software and they all show varying amounts of links but SEOmoz is way off and has not updated any in over 5 weeks. I have at least 200.

Just checked WMT and all the links that I would expect to see are listed there, so why is SEOmoz not picking this up? This delay is not good, I use SEOmoz for the purpose of reporting and if the reports are inaccurate then what is the point of subscribing?
I could understand a one or two day delay but after over 3 weeks the data is still not giving me a true picture.

Link building strategy - my weak link!
Please help me understand link building. I've read the articles on Moz, but they seem vague to me. Specific questions: 1. How do I get my webpage on good quality sites? 2. Guest blogging? Good or not? 3. What about when people pick up one of our blog stories and publish it on their site with a link back? Is that bad now because it is duplicate content??? 4. Forum posts with a link in the signature? Good or not? 5. Directories - I get it that these are no longer good... are they severely negative? Should I take them down. 6. PR - Looks like this is bad... right??? 7. Youtube - any value? 8. Pinterst, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram? Any value to backlinks here? 9. What about sites like redit? 10. Anything else I should consider?

Lost inbound link from Huffington Post???
My website was featured on HuffPost's "7 Sites You Should Be Wasting Your Time On" in September of 2011 and somewhere along the way it no longer gets recognized as a linking domain? The site/page itself ('7 Sites' from Sept 2011) still exists through direct linking, and my site's link is still on there. I am looking at it right now (still knew the URL because I put it as a link in the 'About' section of my site). Any theories as to how/why this happened and if it is due to something on my end? Any way to get it back?

Why aren't links to my site from YouTube showing up in my link reports?
Our company is paying for a service to create hundreds of videos/month for us with links back to our primary domain. If I go to YouTube I see the videos with the links, but YouTube does not show in my link reports. Why not?

What would you do about dead inbound links?
Hey guys, I recently asked a question similar to this, but wanted to spark up a bit of a discussion around it to see what everyone's feelings were on it. The web is always changing - as we're all too aware - so links you may have obtained (by however means) let's say 2 years ago may not be 'active' now. By that I mean you may have had a link from "example_-website.com" in 2010 and now "example-_website.com" is no longer an active website - but still shows a parked domain. The thing is... this parked domain is still cropping up in OSE, suggesting that Google may still believe there's a link there - and may not have re-crawled that site to prove otherwise. The issue I've had with this is an SEO company built links to the sites I'm working on now (one of the sites has been penalised as a result of their link building). These links aren't 'active' anymore and when viewed on OSE, they just head straight to a parked domain with no visible (or in-source) link to my site. What are everyone's feelings on this? What would you all do? I'm in two minds whether to re-write a section of the website.... but I'm swaying towards creating better content and NOT re-directing the old URLs to it (just contact the decent links and ask for a change of link). Looking forward to seeing your responses and speaking to you all! Nick

Article Links
I write and publish artcles. Typically I publish them on a few top article sites like EZineArticles. The articles then get picked up by other sites, often numbering in the hundreds. All of the articles are published with a link back to our website using a keyword. Are there any SEO risks in this type of link proliferation?
