408 errors in crawl diagnostics
-
Best community,
The Crawl Diagnostics Report of Moz gave our website a lot of 408 errors like below:

Title

408 : Error

Meta Description

408 Request Time-out

Meta Robots

Not present/empty

Meta Refresh

Not present/empty

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The report has diagnosed a lot of these (around 320), even though we cannot reproduce the error (we cannot seem to find it ourself).

2 questions relating to this:

* Can you (the people of Moz) reproduce the errors manually?

* Is it possible that it is a bug in the spider of Moz itself (too many spiders crawling at the same time)?

Hi Arjen,
408 errors are timeout type errors so the first thing that comes to mind is what kind of web server you are on. If it is shared then there might have been a surge in traffic to your site or another site on the same host and this slowed down requests enough that the moz crawler got these results returned. You could try running a scan with screaming frog which will scan the site in a similar way to the moz crawler (ie multiple requests at the same time) and if you see the errors there also then this can confirm that the issue is likely with your server setup and not a moz bug.

Is there a tool that works like crawl test that allows more than 3000 pages?
I enjoy using crawl test inside moz but I need to find a way to crawl all the pages on a site. It would probably be in the neighborhood of 10,000 urls. Does anyone know of a free tool and if not is there a paid tool that will do this?

WP 4.0 Update Causing Major Duplicate Content Errors?
According to my moz analytics, my site has went through the roof with duplicate content. There's a nice Mozzer named Abe looking into this with me, but I'm wondering if it could be due to the WP 4.0 update. Has anyone else experienced an uptick like this before? I've never had any problems with the other updates. Thanks, Ruben

Does anyone have a good article or video on how to read the SEO MOZ crawl report column by column?
I am trying to find a good how-to on how to read and analyze each column of the SEO MOZ crawl report, specifically, the excel sheet it allows you to export. What I'm really trying to get to the bottom of is what the "Yes" indiciates under rel-cononical. If it says "yes," does this mean that the link in question has been canonoicalized?

(and showing the link this way with the characters after the last / which are not part of the page URL) Google Webmaster Tools says we have no errors. I'm wondering why there is this descrepancy and I'm wondering how I can track down where this link is originating from on our site. I've tried downloading screamingfrog and deeptrawl to no avail (java issues). I've also tried a couple of services online and installed Broken Link Checker plugin with no luck finding it. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!0
