Value of paid for directories
-
For a company with a limited budget, is it worth spending money on paid for directories which a high authority to boost your page rank?
Thanks

It's not worth spending money on anything that'll increase your toolbar PR unless you're planning on selling links, but I'm sure this is just semantics and you're meaning to help you rank
Big 'paid' directories like YDIR, JoeAnt, BOTW can help a new site gain a little authority quickly, however if you're some weird niche and on a page far down them the link juice power of them isn't going to be particularly strong.
Remember you're not actually paying to be in the directory for these sites but for somebody to review the site and see if it's worth including. Don't get links from directories who say they will sell you an entry!
For the price I'd recommend sinking it into some sharable content (good infographics, a few videos to populate a youtube channel etc) and/or invest it in something else that will add value to your brand. The directories aren't bad as such, just maybe not the best way to spend the money.

How do Domain Authority and the Price of a Paid Listing Relate?
I'm just starting to do some in-house link building for the first time. Having looked at some of our competitors it seems that they have paid for links on some B2B sites and I was wondering how the Domain authority and the price charged were related. The follow up question is then how do you estimate the ROI of a link? So for example looking at a site with a DA of 30 and a page authority of 17 how much should one pay for the link? How do you decide how much you should pay for a link - and whether it is value for money? btw I'm not interested in buying links I'm curious 🙂 Thanks for any thoughts

Why does my aged Yahoo Directory listing not show up as link in OpenSiteExplorer?
A site of my is in the yahoo directory (3dprinter.net). It's been there for a long time. I just went into OpenSiteExplorer to see where the link ranked, and it's not there. Why would not not show up? And if it doesn't show up, is it even worth my money to do for other sites?

What are the relative values of different PageRanks?
I'm planning a link-building campaign, and I've realised it'd be good to know the relative values of different PageRanks. e.g. does a PageRank 5 site have 10 times as much effect as a PageRank 4 site? Or 100 times? Or 2 times? I'm thinking, rather than spending ages getting 10,000 PageRank 3 links, I should just spend a bit less time trying to get a few PageRank 7+ links! I'm even considering offering incentives to staff for getting links - to do so it would be good to be able to value each PageRank accordingly. Any suggestions / knowledge / experience / stats gratefully received! Alex

Which Article Directories are still relevant?
Hi, I know Article Directories are not valued as high as they once were and many took a hit from Google. But are there any Article Directories that are still worth posting content on? Thanks!

What is the purpose of submitting your blog articles to directories?
I was wondering what the purpose of submitting your blog articles to directories are. Doesn't it require enough "points" or "+1's" for it to become a "do-follow" link? People on the forum talk about automating directory submission, can anyone recommend a good software for this? I've been hearing that Google Penalizes you for article submission because it looks like spam?

Directories and duplicate content.
Part of our link building strategy for a dentist is to submit their site to several relevant directories. If I enter the same description in each directory, is it possible that Google will consider this duplicate content and prevent link juice from being passed back to the dentist's site? Thanks folks, Jason
