Home Page or Internal Page
-
I have a website that deals with personalized jewelry, and our main keyword is "Name Necklace".
3 mounth ago i added new page: http://www.onecklace.com/name-necklaces/And from then google index only this page for my main keyword, and not our home page.
Beacuase the page is new, and we didn't have a lot of link to it, our rank is not so well.I'm considering to remove this page (301 to home page), beacause i think that if google index our home page for this keyword it will be better.
I'm not sure if this is a good idea, but i know that our home page have a lot of good links and maybe our rank will be higher.
Another thing, because google index this internal page for this keyword, it looks like our home page have no main keyword at all.
BTW, before i add this page, google index our main page with this keyword.
Please advise...

I agree with Chris.
It's not just a case of ranking for a keyword, you've got to be able to do something with that traffic in order to satisfy the goals of your site/business.
So, you need to consider relevancy of the page, the question the searcher is asking and their intent.
It's tempting to try and use your most authoritative page (typically your home page) to try and compete for your competitive search terms. But you can't burden your home page with every keyword.
Really you should be looking to get the searcher to the most relevant page on your site for their query. The more specific the keyword, the more specific the page.
Think about which page is more likely to satisfy the searchers query, and have a higher chance of getting them to convert? A generic home page or one that's about the very specific thing they were searching for?
Target keywords with the wrong page, and you can see some high bounce rates. It's just a shame in this (not-provided) world we're losing the ability to track the bounce rates for specific keywords.

It does appear that the internal page is, semantically, a bit focused on "name necklace" than the homepage is, and then you have the fact that your primary navigation is telling google that the internal page is the name necklace page. To boot, you've got some external links pointing to the internal page with "name necklace" anchor text. All of that can easily put the internal page ahead of the homepage for that term.
What that tells me is that maybe you should be using your home page to rank for a more competitive term and develop the internal page's conversion ability (make it a better landing page) for "name necklace". Perhaps your home page could focus on "personalized jewelry" or something like that.

Is it ok to repeat a (focus) keyword used on a previous page, on a new page?
I am cataloguing the pages on our website in terms of which focus keyword has been used with the page. I've noticed that some pages repeated the same keyword / term. I've heard that it's not really good practice, as it's like telling google conflicting information, as the pages with the same keywords will be competing against each other. Is this correct information? If so, is the alternative to use various long-winded keywords instead? If not, meaning it's ok to repeat the keyword on different pages, is there a maximum recommended number of times that we want to repeat the word? Still new-ish to SEO, so any help is much appreciated! V.

Internal Linking
Hi, I'm doing internal anchor text links. Relative path. if I use /destination-page instead of https://website.com/destination-page will I still receive a transfer of internal Google trust to the destination page? Does google treat just the / url the same as full url??

Will Reducing Number of Low Page Authority Page Increase Domain Authority?
Our commercial real estate site (www.nyc-officespace-leader.com) contains about 800 URLs. Since 2012 the domain authority has dropped from 35 to about 20. Ranking and traffic dropped significantly since then. The site has about 791 URLs. Many are set to noindex. A large percentage of these pages have a Moz page authority of only "1". It is puzzling that some pages that have similar content to "1" page rank pages rank much better, in some cases "15". If we remove or consolidate the poorly ranked pages will the overall page authority and ranking of the site improve? Would taking the following steps help?: 1. Remove or consolidate poorly ranking unnecessary URLs?

2. Update content on poorly ranking URLs that are important?
3. Create internal text links (as opposed to links from menus) to critical pages? A MOZ crawl of our site's URLs is visible at the link below. I am wondering if the structure of the site is just not optimized for ranking and what can be done to improve it. Redirecting homepage to internal page (2nd Tier page)
We are planning to experiment redirecting our homepage to one of the 2nd tier page. I mean....example.com to example.com/page. We need this page to rank well, but it doesn't have much internal links or external back-links, so we opt for this redirect. Advantage with this page is, it has "keyword" we want to rank for in URL. "page" in example.com/page. Will this help or hurt us in SEO? I think we are missing keyword in our root domain, so interested to highlight this page. Thanks, Satish

Google+ Page Question
Just started some work for a new client, I created a Google+ page and a connected YouTube page, then proceeded to claim a listing for them on google places for business which automatically created another Google+ page for the business listing. What do I do in this situation? Do I delete the YouTube page and Google+ page that I originally made and then recreate them using the Google+ page that was automatically created or do I just keep both pages going? If the latter is the case, do I use the same information to populate both pages and post the same content to both pages? That doesn't seem like it would be efficient or the right way to go about handling this but I could be wrong.

410 pages
Do you need to optimize a 410 page like you do for 404 pages? What does a visitor see when a page is 410 compared to a 404?
