Easiest Way to redirect 50 404s spread out randomly over 9400 pages
-
Hello,
I've got about 50 404s I'm hunting down and redirecting (to the home page) on a client's site. There are no on-site links pointing towards most of them, they're just out there floating and indexed by google. I should be more specific - these URLs just pull up as a blank white page with nothing on it.
I'm concerned that Google has these indexed and it is causing a problem. They're all Ecommerce category pages where the URL has been changed.
site:domain.com is showing 9400 pages.
Moz analytics is showing 4 404s
Is there any faster way to track down all 50 404s than to manually go through the 9400 URLs in the SERPs after I type in site:domain.com?
Thank you.

What happened was I was using a URL rename textbox in the back end of our ecommerce platform. For the past year I have been renaming the URLs to fit keywords, sometimes renaming them a second time when the page drastically changed.
I figured the cart was doing a 301 redirect every time I renamed the URL, but instead of doing that, it did a 301 redirect the first time, then each additional time I renamed the URL, it just left a blank white page on the old URL.
Do I need to fix these blank white pages, or are they being filtered out by Google and won't harm the site's rankings?
I don't know if a custom 404 page - I could do that - is a good idea since they were once category pages. A custom 404 would be a good idea but I'm wondering if I have to do more.

It sounds like blank white pages may mean your system has a misconfiguration that's causing these pages to display blanks. It could be something as simple as an illegal character you put in a page title or a more general config problem you have on your category pages. What ecom system are you using if you don't mind me asking?

GWT shows no crawl errors in the last 90 days.
But if I go to site:domain.com some of the first 20 listings go to blank white pages.
I said 404s but I just meant blank white pages.
So you'll have
www.domain.com/categorytype1 goes to a blank white page
www.domain.com/new-url-for-categorytype1 goes to a category page
Do I need to worry about these blank white pages, or will Google figure out what they are? I've created about 50 of them (by accident) but maybe Google has quickly sorted out and de-indexed the blank white pages.
Your thoughts?

Are they listed in Google Webmaster tools? You should be able to find out where they are linking from that way. Also, if they're 404ing and they weren't ever a real page and they aren't really being linked from anywhere then there's no real reason to stop it from 404ing. You should probably make a custom 404 to serve people that directs them back to your site instead of a completely blank page.

404s on paginated categories with rss feed in wordpress
Moz tells me I have 16 404 errors. They are all on paginated pages and end with rss. I checked all my settings and i do not know why it is doing this. https://sharlinlaw.com/author/ben-sharlin/page/7/rss the page 7 exists but not the rss feed on page 7. it also exists https://sharlinlaw.com/author/ben-sharlin/rss Just on pagination it is throwing 404ss. It is my understanding that this is a custom rss structure. I built this site and i did not set it up this way but moz crawler is flagging these, what should i do. I do not need rss to exist on pagination. Thanks for any responses to this issue, Don Silvernail

Duplicate Page Content on pages that appear to be different?
Hi Everyone! My name's Ross, and I work at CHARGED.fm. I worked with Luke, who has asked quite a few questions here, but he has since moved on to a new adventure. So I am trying to step into his role. I am very much a beginner in SEO, so I'm trying to learn a lot of this on the fly, and bear with me if this is something simple. In our latest MOZ Crawl, over 28K high priority issues were detected, and they are all Duplicate Page Content issues. However, when looking at the issues laid out, the examples that it gives for "Duplicate URLs" under each individual issue appear to be completely different pages. They have different page titles, different descriptions, etc. Here's an example. For "LPGA Tickets", it is giving 19 Duplicate URLs. Here are a couple it lists when you expand those:
Moz Pro | | keL.A.xT.o
http://www.charged.fm/one-thousand-one-nights-tickets
http://www.charged.fm/trash-inferno-tickets
http://www.charged.fm/mylan-wtt-smash-hits-tickets
http://www.charged.fm/mickey-thomas-tickets Internally, one reason we thought this might be happening is that even though the pages themselves are different, the structure is completely similar, especially if there are no events listed or if there isn't any content in the News/About sections. We are going to try and noindex pages that don't have events/new content on them as a temporary fix, but is there possibly a different underlying issue somewhere that would cause all of these duplicate page content issues to begin appearing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!0 -
On Link Analysis tab I my best pages are 301 and 404 pages.
I looked on my redirrect file and found that /* redirects to /v/404.asp.
Moz Pro | | sbetzen
However if you look below at the link analysis the 404 page is getting a 404 error.
The homepage ecowindchimes.com/ is getting a 301 (but I don't know where it is going to).
The third one is also redirected. 1. [No Data] ecowindchimes.com/ ||| 301 ||| 2 ||| 36 2. 2. [No Data] ecowindchimes.com/v/404.asp ||| 404 ||| 2 ||| 34 3. [No Data] 3. ecowindchimes.com/index.html?lang=en-us&target=d2.html ||| 301 ||| 1 ||| 33 So I have 2 questions: 1) should this be fixed? and 2) how? This is a volusion site and I believe the "catchall" redirect was done by them0 -
Canonical URLs and Duplicate Page Content
My website (doctor directory) is getting a lot of duplicate page content & duplicate page title warnings from SEOmoz. The pages that are getting the warnings are doctors profiles which can be accessed at three different URLs. Problem is this should be handled by the canonical tag on the pages. So example below, all three open the same page: https://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh/ https://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh/gkv https://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh/pkv Here's our canonical tag (on line 34): rel="canonical" href="http://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh" /> So why is SEO moz crawling the page? We are getting hundreds of errors from this - and yet Google doesn't have any of the duplicate URLs indexed...

Seomoz crawling filtered pages
Hi, I just checked an seo campaign we started last week, so I opened seomoz to see the crawl diagnostics. Lot's of duplicate content & duplicate titles showing up, but that's because Rogerbot is crawling all of the filtered pages as well. How do I exclude these pages from being crawled? /product/brand-x/3969?order=brand&sortorder=ASC
Moz Pro | | nvs.nim
/product/brand-x/3969?order=popular&sortorder=ASC

What the . . ! Duplicate Pages and Titles WAY up?
My duplicate pages went up 50 plus in the past week, and my duplicate page titles went over more then 100. We recently redesigned the website, but it has been up for several weeks now. The only change I made specifically last week or late the week before was to get my 301 redirects done to get the www. version and the non www version pointing to the same place (as well as a couple other sites that point to it). I'm sure this is not enough info to figure out what went wrong . . . I'd love some help in figuring this out though.

Only Crawling 1 page?
Hi Guys, Any advice much appreciated on this! Recently set up a new campaign on my dashboard with just 5 keywords. The domain is brammer.co.uk and a quick Google site:brammer.co.uk shows a good amount of indexed pages. However - first seomoz tool crawl has only crawled 1 url!! "Last Crawl Completed: Apr. 12th, 2011 Next Crawl Starts: Apr. 17th, 2011" Any ideas what's stopping the tool crawl anymore of the site?? Cheers in advance.. J
