Homepage not showing up in Google even when searching exact title tag
-
why does my site not show up in Google even when you search exact homepage title tag or business name (Brand-It Web Design)? You can even search the exact title tag for my site and it does not show up.
If you search site:branditwebdesign.com you will see that it is there. But just the homepage doesn't show up in search for anything else. We have probably tried everything in the world to get this working.
Any suggestions?

OK. There's no known Penguin update that happened in January. Although links are a possibility, there could be something else. Panda is certainly a possibility and also it's possible that there is some sort of technical issue that is affecting the site.
It sounds like you probably need someone with knowledge of Google penalty and algo changes to have a good look at the site and dig into your analytics. I am not personally able to take on new audit work right now but I can put you in touch with someone whom I know is good at this kind of stuff. You can find my contact info via my profile.
There are also some very knowledgable people here in the Moz forums that would probably be available for hire for an hour or two to have a good look. You can search for similar questions and find people who have good reputation and have given good answers and pm them to ask for consulting.

Hello Marie,
Thank you for the response. Yes, I have checked in the Manual Actions section of Webmaster Tools and there are no notifications.
I would say we dropped around January, 2014. so it has been an extreme struggle to try and figure out why.
Thank you,
-
Do you know on what day you dropped out of search? You're definitely still indexed, but I can only get you to come up for a search for your url. I think there's a good chance that the Penguin algorithm is affecting you as it looks like the majority of your backlinks are unfortunately unnatural. I just had a quick look and I see mostly low quality directory links. If Penguin is the culprit then you'll see a drop on one of the dates of a Penguin refresh. The most recent was October 4, 2013.
If you haven't done so already, it's a good idea to check Webmaster Tools --> Search Traffic --> Manual Actions to see if your site has been manually penalized as well.

What is your URL?
There is a million reason why it could not be showing up. No one can even begin to tell you the reason without having a look at it.

Why isn't there a browser tab title AND meta title?
Personal opinion; as a user, it makes sense for me to want a full 50+ character meta title which displays in a search engine that helps me determine if I want to click that link AND a concise browser tab title that tells me which page and brand I have open. As a search engine, I would (possibly wrongly) suppose that having one more piece user-facing of information would be helpful in understanding a page and that page's relation to the rest of the website. Theoretical example Meta title: A great title for the website I've been dreaming of! | OurBrand Browser tab title: Home | OurBrand

A client rebranded a few years ago and doesn't want to be associated with it's old brand name. He wishes not to appear when the old brand is searched in Google, is there something we can do?
The problem is there was redirection between the old branded site and the new one, and now when you type in the name of the old brand, the new one comes up. I have desperately tried to convince this client there is nothing we can do about it, dozens of news articles crop up with the two brands together as this was a hot topic a few years ago, but just in case I missed something I thought I'd ask the community of experts here on Moz. An example for this would be Tyco Healthcare that became covidien in 2007. When you type tyco healthcare, covidien crops up here and there. Any ideas? Thanks!

Homepage disappeared from Google
Hello, Since 2 weeks, our website is losing positions in Google. After years on the first page, we dropped for our main keyword to the 3rd page. Seems that all the positions we lost, were ranking with the homepage. Now, we are on the 3rd page but with a less important page. How is it possible that only the homepage disappeared? Is there any explanation for that? I hope there is an explanation, so we can fix the trouble. Kind regards, Tine

Why Google won’t display the right page title?
I'm using a WordPress site with the WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast. Why Google won’t display the right page title for my CATEGORY pages? This is s example category page I'm having a problem with: http://bit.ly/1DReQPP
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | soralsokal
In the source code of this category page you can see the title is:
<title>Yoga Übungen - Mit visuellen Guides, Videos & viel Inspiration</title> Now when I check the title in the SERPS it only gives me the the category name 'Yoga Übungen'. See screenshot here: http://awesomescreenshot.com/05942buz60
This happens with ALL the category pages on my site. Google uses the category name instead of the title provided in the source code. I found an article from Yoast dealing with this issue: https://yoast.com/google-page-title/ It's correct, that Google sometimes chooses a different page title, but this article doesn't address the exclusive category problem. For 'normal' pages or posts, Google always shows the title which I've setup in Yoast (and which is in the source code). I don't understand what goes wrong for category pages? Do any of you have a similar problem or experience with that?0 -
Why is Google rewriting titles with the brandname @ the front followed with a conon " : " i.e. > Brandname: the rest of the title
Example: https://www.google.nl/search?q=providercheck.nl&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&ei=9xUCUuH6DYPePYHSgKgJ&fp=96e0b845c2047734&q=www.providercheck.nl&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&sa=X&spell=1&ved=0CC4QBSgA Look @ the first result: www.providercheck.nl

Custom Google Search & Joomla/Wordpress
If you install google custom search on a site - does it record a list of all the searches people type into the search box? Is there a Joomla & Wordpress Search plugin/extension that keeps a track of the search history used on your site(s).
