Keyword difficulty - benchmarks
-
hi,
anyone know some good benchmarks? how many hours a certain keyword needs with what percentage? or how to really interpret the %?
thanks,
Walter

Hi Walter - I can help a little on that.
Basically, I'd urge you to think of thee percentages as good relative numbers that are most directly connected to Domain Authority and Page Authority scores. For example, say there's a keyword with a difficulty of 30%. You could roughly expect that to compete, you'd need to be in the Domain Authority and Page Authority 30(ish) range to get onto page 1 (and you'd need to be higher to be at the top). That's most certainly not all there is to it, but it's a reasonable rough way to think about it.
Hours needed is a metric I don't think is a good way to think about Keyword Difficulty. Some marketers and some sites may require 5 hours of work to create and market a piece of content that could compete for the same difficulty that it would take months or even years for another site to work on.
http://moz.com/academy/competition-keyword-analysis is a great resource you should check out and dives into detail on how to use the tool (including a bit about the percentages).
The way I always use keyword difficulty is to help identify the relative challenge in ranking for a term. My goal is to target terms with high search volume and low difficulty first and to recognize that really hard keywords are going to take much more outstanding content (and outstanding marketing to earn links). Some low difficulty terms (e.g. anything below 25 or 30) might just take good keyword targeting and hitting publish (because I have a pretty strong blog already). High difficulty terms (anything over 60 or 65) are usually going to take serious concerted effort and a lot of links (with some nice anchor text) to rank well.

Why keywords have zero data for UAE?
I have searched for food delivery keyword for the United Arab Emirates, EN, and AR. Monthly volume has no data whereas difficulty, organic and priority has figures. When I change the country to US; monthly volume has more data. Can you explain; how can I use your service?

Should keywords found in a keyword tool (eg. Keyword explorer) be implemented on a page in the exact order?
Hi guys, I have a question about adding keywords found directly from a keyword tool onto a webpage. I see a keyword opportunity from Moz's Keyword Explorer, for example, "dog giardia treatment natural" and was wondering if it should be worked into the page exactly in that order? For example, I've modified the question on the page to now read "Are there any other dog Giardia treatments that are natural?" Is this good practice? Should it be exactly in the order of the keyword found in the tool? Is what I've done too spammy? Appreciate any help! Thanks

Keyword Lists - Omitting Keywords
I've had trouble adding keywords to Keyword Lists - specifically when I add a large list of keywords (400+), and only 50 or 75 keywords are analyzed. Is there a reason this happens?

Use of Keyword Analysis Tool (espcially regarding search volume)
Hello! I am fairly new to Moz and just starting to explore the available Research Tools. At first glance, I was very excited about the Keyword Analysis tool, but I quickly realized that (a) I wasn't receiving the information I needed and (b) I didn't know what to do with the information it gave me. So... Two specific questions: Is there any way to see the Google Search Volume instead of the Bing Search Volume? The overwhelming majority of our organic site traffic comes from Google, so it seems silly to look at the Bing search volume. How do you deal with the fact that this tool only returns search volume based on an exact match? As we know, there are some many ways the same general query could be entered, but it seems ridiculous for me to sit there and run the tool against every iteration I can think of just to get a general sense of the search volume. Two general questions: What do you find helpful about the Keyword Analysis tool and how does it inform your SEO work? What other tools do you recommend to help determine Google search volume for keywords? Thanks in advance for your help and advice!

Keyword used 1448 times ? for a Chinese page
Hi, I tested my page grade here : https://moz.com/researchtools/on_page_grader_reports/1269197 Keyword : "專案管理軟體" , which means "Project Management Software" in Traditional Chinese. URL: http://helpmecloud.com/clarizen-introduction.html But the On Page Grader told me "We found this keyword used 1448 times." I think the result is wrong, I guess you calculated all Chinese letters separately. Am I right ? How can I get a correct grade for my page ? Thansk for help! William

How does the grader tool treat keyword "stuffing" in ecommerce
We recently started using Moz on our ecommmerce site because I'm concerned that our SEO company doesn't really know what they are doing and I want to see what I can do on my own with the little bit of knowledge I have. It's helping in a number of ways but here's a big question mark: The Grader Tool keeps telling us that our product category pages have too many keywords on them. We are only using them in the content once or twice, but the sub-category buttons on the page show the category + sub repeated. Could this be what's causing it? Does Google distinguish this for ecommerce? We've taken a huge hit in rankings for key phrases and keywords over the past six months and I'm wondering if this is part of it?

Why moz does not update actual keyword possition
I managed to get first place on google by keyword: vervo.lv kravu pārvadājumi in google.lv (it is in first place all this week) But in moz reports it shows just second position? I added so far about 100 keywords to monitor so if it shows incorrect this one how can i trust to other keyword results. Report says it updated on 3. september and it already was in first place. I really need to monitor keywords but if it does not show actual positions it is useless.

Rankings Tool Shows 'Wed' for Most Keywords
Hi Folks, I have 300 keywords in the moz rankings tool but I would say over 90% of them simply show a 'WED' icon instead of the icon. It has been like this for nearly 3 weeks now. Any ideas why this is? Cheers Gaz
