Should I delete 'data hightlighter' mark-up in webmaster tools after added schema.org mark-up?
-
LEDSupply.com is my site, and before becoming familiar with schema mark-up I used the 'data-highlighter' in webmaster tools to mark-up as much of the site as I could. Now that Schema is set-up I'm wondering if having both active is bad and am thinking I should delete the previous work with the 'data highlighter' tool.
To delete or not to delete? Thank you!

Ah, ok. My mistake, I didn't drill down enough. One thing I did notice: you have authorship markup on those product pages as well. That should be removed.
According to Google's guidelines, for product pages that are not specifically written/constructed by an "author," that markup should not be there. Rel="publisher" is the only necessary markup for non-blog or article content.
The schema markup you've implemented looks good in the page source, and checks out as being correctly implemented (without any duplicates) using Google's Structured Data Testing Tool (found in Google Webmaster Tools). It appears the data highlighter markup is not causing duplicates.
I'd recommend double-checking all the product pages you've added schema to that you originally had from the data highlighter markup. There may be duplicates, there may not. To be honest, I've always gone right to schema.org, but checking for duplicates should be the only thing you should have to worry about.
Good luck!

only on the product pages. it's live.

Where have you added schema markup? What pages?
After briefly scanning a few pages on your site, I'm not seeing any code from schema.org in the page source. Has this been implemented/gone live yet?

Event Schema for Multiple Occurrences
I am wondering the best way to mark up an event page with multiple occurrences. For example, we have an event that happens over the course of 4 sequential weekends:
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Your_Workshop
9/28-9/29
10/5-10/6
10/12-10/13
10/19-10/20 Our website allows us to enter multiple occurrences that results in a single event listing page which outputs all dates (to eliminate duplicate content, titles, metas, etc.) but allows each occurrence to output individually on our events calendar in the respective individual date. Each time the event is shown, it links to the same listing page. I am wondering if we can add event schema on a single listing multiple times to cover each occurrence. In the above example, we would have 4 schemas on the listing page for each date range/weekend. In our current schema, we end up with a start and end date identified as 9/28-10/20 but it is not clear that the event is just happening on the weekends with gaps in between. Any suggestions are welcome however, we are really trying to NOT list each as an individual event on the website both for the duplicate content issue and the extra burden on our client that lists events for a very large geographic area.0 -

Some Tools Not Recognizing Meta Tags
I am analyzing a site which has several thousands of pages, checking the headers, meta tags, and other on page factors. I noticed that the spider tool on SEO Book (http://tools.seobook.com/general/spider-test) does not seem to recognize the meta tags for various pages. However, using other tools including Moz, it seems the meta tags are being recognized. I wouldn't be as concerned with why a tool is not picking up the tags. But, the site suffered a large traffic loss and we're still trying to figure out what remaining issues need to be addressed. Also, many of those pages once ranked in Google and now cannot be found unless you do a site:// search. Is it possible that there is something blocking where various tools or crawlers can easily read them, but other tools cannot. This would seem very strange to me, but the above is what I've witnessed recently. Your suggestions and feedback are appreciated, especially as this site continues to battle Panda.

Is it dangerous to use "Fetch as Google" too much in Webmaster Tools?
I saw some people freaking out about this on some forums and thought I would ask. Are you aware of there being any downside to use "Fetch as Google" often? Is it a bad thing to do when you create a new page or blog post, for example?

Does 'jump to' navigation work with a hidden div?
Will jump to navigation work when using a hidden div? Basically, we use a navigation system such that when a user clicks on a title, it expands to show the rest of the article, each title has an anchor associated with it, but no where else on the page / site do we link to those anchors. In order to make jump to navigation work, we are considering adding a hidden div with links to the anchors. Does anyone have experience doing this? Did it work?

Adding index.php at the end of the url effect it's rankings
I have just had my site updated and we have put index.php at the end of all the urls. Not long after the sites rankings dropped. Checking the backlinks, they all go to (example) http://www.website.com and not http://www.website.com/index.php. So could this change have effected rankings even though it redirects to the new url?
