Why is Moz not crawling my backlinks
-
Hi my website www.dealwithautism.com is 3 months old and has been on DA 1 and PA1 ever since, even though the site is actively developed with quality content (a couple of posts already have 1k+ fb likes acquired editorially, while that doesnt necessarily improve SERP, it sure tells you that the post is engaging).
In contrast another site of mine, www.deckmymac.com which is hardly ever managed, not have more than 15 posts and just 1 backlink, has DA 14.
Running an on page analysis on www.dealwithautism.com I observed that Moz has not identified any backlinks nor social signals (except G+). However, according to Webmasters, I have 57 links, 51 of them to the root. Even Majestic is able to report 32+ backlinks.
So what am I missing? Certainly, at this stage my website doesn't deserve DA 1, or does it?

Hey Ashish!
Felicia linked me to your thread.
There are two types of link data we capture: External and Internal Linking pages. In order for us to discover backlinks to your site, we need to crawl the sites and pages linking to you. Once we can find those links, we will then be able to crawl your site to find pages you link to and so forth. Comment sections are not typically a good place to build backlinks as those sections on sites can be abused and come across as spammy. Run a search on OSE for the sites linking to you, check out their DA/PA to see if those sites have any influence that would help with discovering your links. Search other sites you can try to build your links on with high authority. The more sites linking to you, the better.
Here is how we compile our index.
-
We grab the most recent index.
-
We take the top 10 billion URLs with the highest MozRank (with a fixed limit on some of the larger domains).
-
We start crawling from the top down until we've crawled 90,000,000,000 pages (which is about 35% the amount in Google's index).
Therefore, if the site is not linked to by one of these seed URLs (or one of the URLs linked to by them in the next update) then it won't show up in our index.
Other tools, such as Webmaster Tools, Ahrefs, and Majestic will alway show more link data as they target the quantity of links, while OSE focuses more on quality and Domain Authority. It’s best to use all the tools you can to obtain a full backlink profile.
Mozscape focuses on a breadth-first approach. Therefore we almost always have content from the homepage of websites, externally linked-to pages, and pages higher up in a site's information hierarchy. However, deep pages that are buried beneath many layers of navigation are sometimes missed and it may be several index updates before we catch all of these.
We update once a month and you can view the next scheduled update here: http://moz.com/products/api/updates
Hope this helps!

Thanks Donford,
Cool will do that. Thanks mate!

Okay, then likely it is Moz not able to get to all these sites for indexing. I have seen this question many times, you'll note other services have different back link profiles. I have always used Yahoo Site Explorer myself. However, with the Yahoo/Bing alliance this hasn't been working as of late.
Possibly a Moz Staffer will see this and provide more insight. But I wouldn't hesitate to drop Moz a direct email, every staff member I have engaged with is extremely nice and informative.

Hi Donford.
Its been just about a couple of months, but my site has already been crawled at least 5-6 times during this period.
-
Hi Ashish,
How much time has elapsed since you been tracking with Moz? Typically Moz does an once a month.

Guys and Girls, I'm having a weird issue in one of my sites , thing is the site had DA 11 in July and however when check on September Site is having 26 without me doing any type of link building and there are no new posts for this month as well. When checked using open site explorer there are no backlinks indexed in their Mozcape index as well. Why do my spammy backlinks still appear on my Open Site Explorer page after removal?
I used the organic spam backlink removal tactic of emailing owners of sites of spam rank 7 or higher on my page. It has been weeks since many of the harmful links were removed, yet they remain listed on my Open site Explorer page. My fear is that somehow simply getting these links removed doesn't exempt me from the potential to be penalized by Google crawlers. Does it take longer than a few weeks for these links to disappear from the Open Site Explorer, or is there something else I need to be doing? Any and all advice appreciated. Ben

Why does OSE & Moz Q&A sections not work for me in Chrome any more?
A few weeks ago I started seeing instances of OSE not showing all the information when it was showing I was logged in while using Google Chrome. It would work, then not work and kept showing me the button to sign up for Moz Analytics even though I was logged in. I'm a Pro Member, which is confusing. Then I noticed that while logged in, I would be logged out somehow when trying to contribute to the Q&A's and it would bounce me back to the Moz Home page or show me the white Login button in the upper right. Again, in Chrome only. I was told by support to clean my cookies/cache and that works for maybe a few hours, but then would resort back to logging me out. It has become very annoying, and now can only work logged in from FireFox. Not a huge issue, but everything else I do all day is in Chrome. Is anyone else having this same issues? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance. - Patrick

MOZ Tool Bar Query
Hi there, I have a quick question about how pages are ranked on the MOZ tool bar. If you view this page (with the MOZ tool bar showing on your browzer), it has strong metrics: http://www.bristol.gov.uk/page/leisure-and-culture/bristol-collection-venue-hire-0 However, when you click the 'Weddings' link a go one page further into the site, is has no metrics: http://www.bristol.gov.uk/page/leisure-and-culture/wedding-venue-hire Is this because the page hasn't been crawled? Getting a link here is still good?
