New design for Googles Local Search results. No more "7 Pack"
-
Hello MOZ-People,
since yesterday I see (here in germany) for many keywords, that the local results in Google (the so called "7 Pack") is just a "3 Pack". AND, and this leads to my question, for keywords that suggest Google that you want to rent a vacation home, I see the possibility to enter the dates for arrival and departure (see the pic). But for now, it seems that changeing the dates has no impact on the results.Has anyone a clue, what Google has in mind with these dates? Is the an official Google response I have missed?
Thank you for your answers.
Best regards

Hi Andre!
I wish I knew more about Local SEO in Germany, but your screenshot looks like the new-ish 3-Pack that Google rolled out in the US last winter to replace their Carousel results. See coverage of this here:
http://searchengineland.com/google-axes-carousel-new-local-3-pack-208710
For hotels, restaurants and other hospitality/entertainment searches, Google had rolled out the Carousel in the summer of 2013, but this has been replaced by these results. Naming conventions have been kind of scattered. You'll hear terms like 3-pack, snack pack, local stack, hamburger pack. I think it's just easiest to call it a 3-pack. I'm not sure when these 3-packs rolled out in Germany, but this is likely what you are seeing. The upshot is that it has just become harder than ever to compete when Google is only awarding pack status to only 3 businesses!

Hello Marco,
I guess what you have seen is the SERP snippet of Google Hotels (https://www.google.com/hotelfinder).
Take a look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3Fjnp7fdZM
I hope my answer was helpful

Local SEO Strategy after Pigeon update.
We are a local web design agency and well ranked with several local city level keywords. Now we want to spread out our services to near by cities. What's the best way to do that? Example: We've already ranked for "web design new york". Now how can we rank our site with "web design in Washington" and "web design in California"? Note: We've good DA and PA (above 60) along with higher Trust Rank. But don't have those new keywords on our content.

Ranking for "personal trainer agency london"
Hi all, I have a client who wants to rank for "personal trainer agency london" They are a .com site with offices worldwide and they have 1 contact page per location. I've been registering their UK address across Yell, Yelp, G+ etc but I wondered if that would be enough to get their rankings moving for the "london" related terms or should I be creating a landing page related to "personal trainer agency london" specifically? I don't feel comfortable doing it this way as it goes against what I believe is good SEO. They have other services they offer so I don't want to end up having to build a "london" related page for every service and then every location. Surely I can make their Personal Trainers page rank for location terms? Any thoughts HUGELY appreciated!

Google+ Local and a Google+ Company Page
I have an established G+ company page but also want a G+ Local listing in order to appear on Google maps. The company does have a physical address, phone number etc. to qualify for a G+ Local listing. No current local listing exists to claim. Should I: a) Switch the currrent G+ company page to be a G+ Local page; or b) Create a new G+ Local page and keep the G+ company page; or c) Ignore G+ Local and create the listing through Google Places Thanks

Change in Google local ranking
So we have a WA construction client that we're working on doing some local SEO stuff. This month all the keywords that we're tracking but one is on the first page. It's easy to say "yay, we're so damn good at what we do", but it seems like there must have been a shift in the way google is ranking local results. Anyone else experiencing this??

Confusion and Issues With Google Places + Google Plus for Business
Hi all, I'm currently dealing with the frustration between our Google Places page and Google Plus for Business. I know, it's not an uncommon issue, so I'm hoping there's an easy fix to mine! I am currently dealing with 2 Google accounts and 2 businesses. Each business has 2 locations. Each account has 1 location of each business. Obviously this isn't ideal. 😕 A few questions: 1. Each account has already been setup with a personal Google Plus page. Will this interfere or cause any issue when I claim the existing Google Places businesses for a Google Plus for Business? 2. Once I have verified the Google Plus for Business page, I can then merge it with our standard Google Places page, correct? 3. Is the merging only for control/login and dashboard settings? Will there still be 2 separate pages/URLs? 4. If someone +1's our Google Places page, does this reflect on our Plus page, or vice/versa? 5. Is there a way to assign these listings to different accounts/logins without deleting the listing and creating them fresh again? I'm assuming no, but would love to hear of a solution! Thanks a lot!
