SEO for Parallax Website
-
Hi,
Are there any implications of having a parallax website and the URL not changing as you scroll down the page? So basically the whole site is under the same URL? However, when you click on the menu the URL does change?
Cheers

Hi Aron,
There are 3 solutions for Parallax websites to make them SEO friendly. Read Here

Hi Aron
This prior question has a really great answer as well as this one.
In short, it depends how many keywords / topics you're targeting. It can work fine for a "one-topic" site but if you'd normally be targeting separate keywords for several or more pages, that's where you'll run into SEO trouble.

Can you PM me the URL Aron? I could do with seeing exactly what is going on.

Hi Andy,
When you click on the menu link it does indeed scroll down to that part of the website. However, when you scroll up the page onto a different section the URL stays the same. The title tags and meta descriptions are the same across the site no matter what page you are on.
Cheers

Hi Aron,
I think I have misunderstood your question. Apologies for that.
It sounds like a bit of tweaking is required for the menu. Is the site built in Wordpress? I have encountered this as well and I had to set the menu links to custom URL's and then add some code to the .htaccess file as well.
Are you able to give an example of the URL after you click a link? If should (I assume) scroll down to that part of the page instead? PM me here if you wish and I will be happy to take a look.

Hi Andy
Wouldn't this cause issues with duplicate content as you have got the same content on several URLs? So basically the URL for the homepage has all the content on it and then when you click on a link on the main nav it is the exact same content on a different URL?
Thanks

Hi Aron,
None at all - you just can't attract as many keywords as you can with a site that has multiple pages. As a stand-alone, I have had some very nice successes with single page sites, but you need to be content and message heavy. Keep everything on topic be creative with your writing. Don't try to over-optimise either.

Does my website builder/host have an effect on my SEO?
My SEO ranking has been suffering over the last year despite all my efforts. Do you think my website builder/host could negatively effect my SEO? I'm using something called jigsy. They seem really good in the sense that they are very responsive to requests for help, but I have found them to be limiting at times.

I cant:
-edit H1 and H2 tags on individual pages...the same ones are plastered throughout the site as part of a "theme"
-Do any link cannonicalization, which Moz Pro is marking me with 282 critical issues for.
-and I've had numerous times I've had to search out HTML code to paste into my page because they're missing something. ...I may have just answered my question myself, but I'm wondering how much of a problem all of this might be for my SEO? I was looking at switching to something like squarespace recently but it looks like Jigsy has thought of that and doesn't have any way for me to transfer my site to another service..... ugh! site:www.joeborders.com1 -
Inspection of the website is required.
Hello, Recently We have a taken a project " http://customerconnect-services.com/ " and are responsible for the Digital Marketing for the website. FYI, we have been following the best On-Page SEO practices ever since we took the project: Performing Keyword Research, Finalizing the Keywords,Using those in the Page-Title, Meta-Descriptions, Heading Tags and of course in the Content as per MOZ suggestions & SEO standards. But, we are unable to rank in first page; which is a serious matter of concern for us. We have also checked whether the Domain / URL has been blacklisted, but it's not (Not even by Google). We are therefore unable to figure out what is going wrong even after following so many best practices to get the keywords a good ranking (1st & 2nd page of SERPs). Therefore I would like to request you to provide your expert opinions in this regard by checking what is it that we are not getting right. The website url is http://customerconnect-services.com/. As this is a high-priority issue for us & the client is a prestigious one of course, please help. Looking forward to hearing from you at the earliest. Thanks & Regards,

SEO for sub domains
I've recently started to work on a website that has been previously targeting sub domain pages on its site for its SEO and has some ok rankings. To better explain, let me give an example...A site is called domainname.com. And has subdomains that they are targeted for seo (i.e. pageone.domainname.com, pagetwo.domainname.com, pagethree.domianname.com). The site is going through a site re-development and can reorganise its pages to another URL. What would be best way to approach this situation for SEO? Ideally, I'm tempted to recommend that new targeted pages be created - domainname.com/pageone, domainname.com/pagetwo, domainname.com/pagethree, etc - and to perform a 301 redirect from the old pages. Does a subdomain page structure (e.g. pageone.domainname.com) have any negative effects on SEO? Also, is there a good way to track rankings? I find that a lot of rank checkers don't pick up subdomains. Any tips on the best approach to take here would be appreciated. Hope I've made sense!

How long does it take to reindex the website
Generally speaking, how long does it take for Google to recrawl/reindex an (ecommerce) website? After changing a number of product subcategories from 'noindex' back to 'index', I regenerated the sitemap and have fetched as Google in WMT. This was a couple of weeks ago and no action yet. Second question: Does Google treat these pages as if they're brand new? I 'noindexed' them back in April, and they were ranking ok then. (I had noindexed them on the back of advice from my SEO, due to concerns about these pages being seen as duplicate content). Help!

SEO Tomfoolery
Oh Hai, I recently changed the permalink structure on my Wordpress based site, southwestbreaks.co.uk from the standard ?p=123 to a more SEO chummy /%postname%/. As a result, my site has completely dropped off the board for all my previously well ranked search phrases. Having since gotten into SEOmoz a bit more, I can see there are WP plugins available that apparently would've done this a lot more smoothly. I'd be most grateful if someone could explain if this drop off is just temporary, or have I somehow entered Google's shun book? The site has been like this for about 48 hours. Thanks, Tim

We want to change our cms from typo3 to CMS made Simple. We have done this already for another site and it effected the rankings. Have you got experience with this? What factors are important for SEO to consider? Is it normal when you change from cms the rankings will drop?
