Help! How to Remove Error Code 901: DNS Errors (But to a URL that doesn't exist!)
-
I have 2 urgent errors saying there are 2 x error code 909's detected.
These don't link to any page - but I can tell there is a mistake somewhere - I just don't know what needs changing.

Could someone help please?

Thanks Dirk - only just noticed you'd replied!
I can't get the links to generate the mistake my end - they both are working fine.
I still have the same 901 error showing in MOZ though. Strange! - could be something to do with a Bigcommerce bug?? More likely it's something I've done wrong!...

Hi,
It's coming from the links in your footer - I attached a screen copy. (the copy is made on http://www.justkeyrings.co.uk/sitemap/ )
Not sure what you're doing wrong - the "bad" link is not always appearing (and it appears with both js enabled/disabled - caching enabled/disabled).
It certainly would not hurt to clean your HTML code a bit - it's should not necessarily pass the W3C validator, but adding basic things like a doc type declaration wouldn't hurt (http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/doctype.html). It helps the browser to better render your page, I am however not sure that this will help for this specific problem)
Hope this helps a bit with your search.
Dirk

It would seem that there are a couple of DNS issues including not finding a reverse address for the IP on one of the bigCommerce name servers.
Could not find reverse address for 104.195.80.2 (2.80.195.104.in-addr.arpa.).
PTR record(s) for the address could not be found in the .arpa-zone. (ip6.arpa. for IPv6 addresses and in-addr.arpa. for IPv4).

Remove more than 1000 crawl errors from GWT in one day?
In google webmasters tools you have the feature "Crawl Errors". This one displays the top 1000 crawl errors google have on your site. I have around 16k crawl errors at the moment, which all are fixed. But i can only mark 1000 of them as fixed each day/each time google crawls the site. (This as it only displays top 1000 errors. When i have marked those as fixed it won't show other errors for a while.) Does anyone know if it's possible to mark ALL errors as fixed in one operation?

Best way to handle indexed pages you don't want indexed
We've had a lot of pages indexed by google which we didn't want indexed. They relate to a ajax category filter module that works ok for front end customers but under the bonnet google has been following all of the links. I've put a rule in the robots.txt file to stop google from following any dynamic pages (with a ?) and also any ajax pages but the pages are still indexed on google. At the moment there is over 5000 pages which have been indexed which I don't want on there and I'm worried is causing issues with my rankings. Would a redirect rule work or could someone offer any advice? https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=site:outdoormegastore.co.uk+inurl:default&num=100&hl=en&safe=off&prmd=imvnsl&filter=0&biw=1600&bih=809#hl=en&safe=off&sclient=psy-ab&q=site:outdoormegastore.co.uk+inurl%3Aajax&oq=site:outdoormegastore.co.uk+inurl%3Aajax&gs_l=serp.3...194108.194626.0.194891.4.4.0.0.0.0.100.305.3j1.4.0.les%3B..0.0...1c.1.SDhuslImrLY&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=ff301ef4d48490c5&biw=1920&bih=860

Seek help correcting large number of 404 errors generated, 95% traffic halt
Hi, The following GWT screen tells a bit of the story: site: http://bit.ly/mrgdD0 http://www.diigo.com/item/image/1dbpl/wrbp On about Feb 8 I decided to fix a large number of 'duplicate title' warnings being reported in GWT "HTML Suggestions" -- these were for URLs which differed only in parameter case, and which had Canonical tags, but were still reported as dups in GWT. My traffic had been steady at about 1000 clicks/day. At midnight on 2/10, google traffic completely halted, down to 11 clicks/day. I submitted a recon request and was told 'no manual penalty' Also, the 'sitemap' indexes in GWT showed 'pending' for 24x7 starting then. By about the 18th, the 'duplicate titles' count dropped to about 600 or so... the next day traffic hopped right back to about 800 clicks/day - for a week - then stopped again, down to 10/day, a week later, on the 26th. I then noticed that GWT was reporting 20K page-not found errors - this has now grown to 35K such errors! I realized that bogus internal links were being generated as I failed to disable the PHP warning messages.... so I disabled PHP warnings and fixed what I thought was the source of the errors. However, the not-found count continues to climb -- and I don't know where these bad internal links are coming from, because the GWT report lists these link sources as 'unavailable'. I'v been through a similar problem last year and it took months (4) for google to digest all the bogus pages ad recover. If I have to wait that long again I will lose much $$. Assuming that the large number of 404 internal errors is the reason for the sudden shutoff... How can I a) verify the source of these internal links, given that google says the source pages are 'unavailable'.. Most critically, how can I do a 'RESET" and have google re-spider my site -- or block the signature of these URLs in order to get rid of these errors ASAP?? thanks

Redesign existing websites / worried about urls / mapping
Hi Guys, While redesigning existing websites that will have page name changes such as: example.com/products to be called example.com/solutions example.com/about-us to be called example.com/about should I 301 the old url to the new url. In the past I have not done this & I'm just wondering from an SEO point of view how bad is this? (On a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is this not 301ing urls, 10 being really bad & 1 being fine), Thanks.

Internal Linking Structure - help Req'd
I have a website that due to the way in which it was put together a few years back always redirects to a /subdomain folder when the top level domain is entered. When analysing the new SERPS tool i spotted that when the .com domain was assessed it didn't pick up the internal links that were pointing to the /subdomain. Q) Could the /redirect cause a problem when crawled by Google, and if i'm linking back to the homepage should i be using the domain or the subdomain as the link (even though one redirects to the other......)
