SSL for SEO?
-
To obtain an SEO benefit from an SSL is there any particular type or brand which is recommended or has a track history?
It seems you can pay anything between $20 and $???? (For that matter whatever you want to pay!).
Any experience gratefully accepted!
Thanks

No difference for SEO; main difference is the Green bar which is displayed for Extended SSL certifcates - these are the ones which tend to be more expensive than the "standard" ones - on top of that they don't allow wildcards - so you'll need a certificate for each subdomain. Could increase confidence of your visitors in your site - but as stated before - no direct SEO impact.

Nailed it completely....experiencing with one of my clients.
The benefit is too little (if there is any) but if anything go wrong it will harm your website more.

I'd be really shocked if this were a yes. My own experience says no, SSL is SSL and you should be fine.
The only thing I would add to that is if the SSL ends up slowing your site down, it can do as much harm as good. Make sure you're getting strong performance out of your site before AND after the SSL.

Are In-Page Tabs still detrimental to SEO?
Hi Mozers, Are in-page tabs still detrimental for SEO? In-page tabs: allow you to alternate between views within the same context, not to navigate to different areas. As in one long HTML page that just looks like it's divided into different pages via tabs that you can click between. Each tab has it's own URL, which I guess is for analytics tracking purposes? https://XXX https://XXX?qt-staff_profile_tabs=1 https://XXX?qt-staff_profile_tabs=2 https://XXX?qt-staff_profile_tabs=3

New Subdomain SEO questions
I have a main site - mysite.com. I just created a subdomain - leadform.mysite.com I plan to use the leadform.mysite.com as a 1 page lead form only. I will link to leadform.mysite.com from mysite.com and also from other websites I own (myothersite.com etc.) - filtering all traffic to this form to capture leads. (Note - the leadform.mysite.com has CNAME to other server that hosts the backend of the form) My questions are: How should I link from mysite.com to leadform.mysite.com? With dofollow or nofollow? (mysite.com has 1000's of pages and would link from every page with "get a quote' type button) 2) How should I link from myothersite.com to leadform.mysite.com? With dofollow or nofollow? Any SEO risk linking to leadform.mysite.com from an outside domain? (myothersite.com has 1000's of pages and would link from every page with "get a quote' type button) Does it make sense to build links from outside sites to leadform.mysite.com directly to try to get that lead capture page to rank on it's own? 4) Does it make sense to link back from leadform.mysite.com back to mysite.com for seo value? With dofollow or nofollow? Thanks in advance for any help.

There are SEO benefits to external links, but should they be nofollow?
I just read a great article on the SEO benefits of external links to relevant authoritative sites. But it didn't state if the benefits still existed if the external links were nofollows.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Caro-O
The article concluded: “Outgoing relevant links to authoritative sites are considered in the algorithms and do have a positive impact on rankings.” I found this old article on the subject, but opinions on the nofollow issue were mixed:

How have your SEO Audits evolved over time?
Hi guys, SEO Audits used to be so focused on the basics like title tags, meta descriptions etc. but now more than ever, SEO is a discipline which encompasses everything from content marketing to UX design. Would be great to hear from everyone how their audit templates have evolved over time to keep up with the latest updates in SEO and algorithm changes! Which new sections have you added and which have you removed?! Cheers, Daniel

Unknown factors affecting our SEO effort
Good morning / afternoon / evening all, We are continually working our website - www.movingeverywhere.co.uk , it has suffered some drastic drop in rankings with the last 2 google algorithm updates which we have been working to resolve. This has involved: Redesigning the website (responsive now) , increase of speed, reduction of code, better UX and generally better all round experience for the user. Signed up to Moz and resolved any issues which have been highlighted. (Hopefully fixed the last ones today) Investigated our inbound link profile to try and weed out any bad incoming links or any links that were damaging the site. Increased our social network profile and reach. We have done competitor analysis and we are beating all of our competitioers with on site factors as per Moz results but it appears we are missing something which means we are not reaping the fruits of our efforts at the moment. The site is wordpress and we read there could be a canonical issue with Wordpres ssites We are asking the Moz community for any guidance and assistance to try and diagnose any negative factors affecting the SEO effort on the site. Thank you for your time and help.

Domain Forwarding for SEO
Hey guys, I recently created a new website for a client who was ranking #1 for the term "jupiter obgyn" but they have now dropped down to #4. This happened because their old home page was at www. instead of just jupiterobgyn.com. When you type in the www. version, it does take you to the root domain but it's not carrying the old PA! The www. version of the page had a 22 PA and the new root domain hosted page is a 1. How can I fix it so that "link juice" carries over? Is this something i need to do in 1and1 (their web host) or within Wordpress? Thanks!!!
