Why are crawlers not picking up these pages?
-
Hi there,
I've been asked to audit a new subdomain for a travel company. It's all a bit messy, so it's going to take some time to remedy. However, one thing I couldn't understand was the low number of pages appearing in certain crawlers.
The subdomain has many pages. A homepage, category pages then product pages. Unfortunately, tools like Screaming Frog and xml-sitemaps.com are only picking up 19 pages and I can't figure out why. Google has so far indexed around 90 pages - this is by no means all of them, but that's probably because of the new domain and lack of sitemap etc.
After looking at the crawl results, only the homepage and category (continent pages) are showing. So all the product pages are not. for example, tours.statravel.co.uk/trip/Amsterdam_Kings_Day_(Start_London_end_London)-COCCKDM11 is not appearing in the crawl results. After reviewing the source code, I can't see anything that would prevent this page being crawled. Am I missing something?
At the moment, the crawl should be picking up around 400+ product pages, but it's not picking up any.
Thanks

Hi,
I would think it is the javascript being used on the pages (google can theoretically render the page as a browser would, screaming frog and other similar tools on the whole cannot). If you visit the homepage with js turned off then you see a pretty empty page with a list of links (region, activity, country) which are the same links that screaming frog is picking up. If you go into one of the search results pages with js turned off, you don't really see much of anything at all. Google is obviously doing a better job of crawling the js content! A solution would be to present the data in a simpler, crawlable format for non js enabled browsers but that is (probably a big) conversation with your developers

Use Internal Search pages as Landing Pages?
Hi all Just a general discussion question about Internal Search pages and using them for SEO. I've been looking to "noindexing / follow" them, but a lot of the Search pages are actually driving significant traffic & revenue. I've over 9,000 search pages indexed that I was going to remove, but after reading this article (https://www.oncrawl.com/technical-seo/seo-internal-search-results/) I was wondering if any of you guys have had success using these pages for SEO, like with using auto-generated content. Or any success stories about using the "noindexing / follow"" too. Thanks!

Block bad crawlers
Hi! how are you? I've been working on some of my sites, and noticed that i'm getting lots of crawls by search engines that i'm not intereted in ranking well. My question is the following: do you have a list of 'bad behaved' search engines that take lots of bandwidth and don´t send much/good traffic? If so, do you know how to block them using robots.txt? Thanks for the help! Best wishes, Ariel

Pages to be indexed in Google
Hi, We have 70K posts in our site but Google has scanned 500K pages and these extra pages are category pages or User profile pages. Each category has a page and each user has a page. When we have 90K users so Google has indexed 90K pages of users alone. My question is. Should we leave it as they are or should we block them from being indexed? As we get unwanted landings to the pages and huge bounce rate. If we need to remove what needs to be done? Robots block or Noindex/Nofollow Regards

Duplicate Page Content and Title for product pages. Is there a way to fix it?
We we're doing pretty good with our SEO, until we added product listing pages. The errors are mostly Duplicate Page Content/Title. e.g. Title: Masterpet | New Zealand Products MasterPet Product page1 MasterPet Product page2 Because the list of products are displayed on several pages, the crawler detects that these two URLs have the same title. From 0 Errors two weeks ago, to 14k+ errors. Is this something we could fix or bother fixing? Will our SERP ranking suffer because of this? Hoping someone could shed some light on this issue. Thanks.
