Lots of missing main keywords from Search Console
-
Hello Moz Community,
A while back I noticed in Google Search Console that the volume of impressions and clicks dropped off a cliff. I also noticed that this was for primary head keywords that generally had a decent volume of impression share.
The natural initial reaction was 'oh, I must have lost those rankings' but upon checking I realized these rankings are still in existence. Admittedly most are page 2 or 3, but still within the confines of being captured in GSC.
Is there a logical reason why these keywords have just gone from search console?
An example keyword would be something like 'online football management game' and the website is https://www.worldelitesoccer.com
There is 0 queries in my search console data that includes the word 'football'.
Thanks,
Ben

Thanks David,
Interesting, you basically confirmed my immediate suspicion as we did indeed move to https not that long ago. I ended up asking this question because I tried to validate https version of the URL, got through the whole process and verified the listing and then it never appeared in my console view.
Any way, I tried a second time just now and its all looking good - must have been some gremlins in the system.
Appreciate the help.

Hi Ben,
It sounds like you've recently moved to https or added www. to your URLs.
The reason data in your existing Search Console account fell of a cliff is because that specific version of the URL is no longer getting any impressions in Google search.
You will need to create and verify a new Search Console account for the URL that is now being used: https://www.worldelitesoccer.com
This new account will show all the data you are looking for.
One other thing, you should also setup 301 redirects from:
https://worldelitesoccer.com
http://worldelitesoccer.com
to
https://www.worldelitesoccer.comCheers,
David

Google My Business app search report
What is the deal with the search reports in the Google My Business app? I downloaded this app so prospective customers could message my business, and when I look at the search reports on the app, the results seem nonsensical. According to google analytics my business receives pretty steady traffic every day. Why does the report say that I receive zero visitors one day and 400 the next? (See the screenshot below) 4yLRCHG

How do I create a segment that shows me all pages using a certain keyword? But nothing that doesn't have that keyword?
There must be an easy answer to this, but I can't seem to find it. All I want to do is create a segment in Google Analytics that shows all pages and search strings with "orthopaedics" in the title, with pageviews, uniques etc. If I simply navigate to "All Pages" in Google Analytics and then click Advanced Filters and do an Include Page Contains "orthopaedics" it works just fine. (See attached Screen Shot) But when I try to recreate this as a segment, it pulls in all other pages the users visited before arriving on the orthopaedics page I want to include, which I don't want. I can manually exclude each URL I don't want, but this is tedious and I feel there must be a simpler method I'm just missing. At the end of the day, I'm trying to create a list of every page and dynamically created query string that includes the word "orthopaedics" to say doctor X, your orthopaedics section generated X views, and here's a list of the pages. Hey guys, any advice on why my 'search analytics' in Google Webmaster tools is blank with no data?
I have added all the website versions into Google web master tools and I have no crawl errors. When I click on Search traffic these pages are blank - search analytics, & Mobile usability. And When I fetch as Google the status is constantly saying me 'temporarily unreachable' - any help would be greatly appreciated.

Something does not add up with WMTs search analytics data
we recently replatformed our main site and switched to https. For the first 2-3 weeks after we moved organic traffic was great, we did not lose any ( increased a little), but then it dropped off significantly. Attached is a screenshot from one of our main keywords that dropped off. You can see click (blue) and impressions (red) dropped off, and the position became unstable, but in the last week it has stabilised to about the same position it was before, but the clicking and impressions are still very low. The keyword is generic (for our industry) and there would not be any major seasonal changes in the search volume. I can't make sense of this data, could be be wrong? Kd3p5f9.jpg

Are organic search visitors always seen as organic in origin, even if their return to the site is direct?
Many of our conversions occur in a customers second visit to the site. Often, a customer will arrive at our site, submit a finance application, leave, and return at a later date to checkout. We are interested in tracking how many of our checkouts come from customers who originally found our site through an organic search result. If a customer enters the site through organic search, leaves, and returns later through an email link or directly entering our URL, will G analytics show that customer as direct or organic origin? Cheers, Ben

SERPS different based on location of search even with non-personalization
Hello Mozzers, Our agency's website, www.kenta.ro - ranked for a long time at #1 for "ann arbor seo" and similar keywords. For the past several (4-5) months we've been sitting around #5. My guess was that this was Google playing around with the results but I'm not sure why we have been at this position for such a long time. I have a vpn that I use for checking rankings overseas and if I connect to a server in Chicago, LA, Ontario, etc we show up as #1 - only when you search for "ann arbr seo" in our area do we get a lower ranking. All rank checking programs including seomoz show us at the #1 position because of this. What this means for us is that all of the traffic we target with this keyword sees the poor result, while the rest of the world sees the great result (should they search for it). How can we ensure that our target market finds us at #1 like the rest of the world does? Thank you in advance. weabi.png

Get Stats on Search Box Usage, Using Google Analytics?
Let me preface this by first saying I am NOT using the Google Adsense Search feature. The question I am asking is pertaining to the standard search box that comes already coded in most .php blogs. In the Google Analytics, is there a way to tell how many people are searching using the search box? I've looked through the navigation and pathway options in analytics and I don't seem to see anything that definitively points to the number of people using the search box but, perhaps, I am overlooking it. Any insight?
