No images in Google index
-
No images are indexed on this site (client of ours): http://www.rubbermagazijn.nl/. We've tried everything (descriptive alt texts, image sitemaps, fetch&render, check robots) but a site:www.rubbermagazijn.nl shows 0 image results and the sitemap report in Search Console shows 0 images indexed.
We're not sure how to proceed from here. Is there anyone with an idea what the problem could be?
-
Thanks for the response Davinia. We don't use the mentions methods to block crawlers.
-
Could there be something of use on this page - https://developers.google.com/webmasters/control-crawl-index/docs/robots_meta_tag (specifically the heading "Practical implementation of
X-Robots-Tag
with Apache" which talks about blocking images via the http header). -
Also see attached screenshot, it shows how we added image sitemap to search console, it says 6.721 sent but 0 indexed, and no errors found.

Thank you, Steve and Brett.
We do have an image sitemap, which is referenced in the original sitemap: http://www.rubbermagazijn.nl/sitemap/image.xml. As far as I know, this sitemap is dynamically/automatically updated as pages come and go.
The "disallow:" comment is interesting. I will pass this through, but most pages are correctly indexed, just not images.

I just checked your xml sitemap and (as Steve mentioned) you don't have any images in your sitemap (or videos). I strongly recommend using a dynamic xml sitemap as well, if you're not already. Glancing through your site you should have a much larger sitemap than what's displayed.
Also your robots.txt file looks a little funny. Normally I see a line under "User-Agent: *" that says "Disallow:". I'm not sure it's completely necessary, but I don't play around with that file. Too many clients have done weird things by varying from the standard. Here's THE resource on robots.txt:

Did you try explicitly adding the images into your sitemap?

For ex : when I type online spreadsheet in google, in the related searches it list online spreadsheet open source and spreasheet download. Does it means that when writing content I should included those terms in order to be relevant on the keyword online spreadsheet ? because they are considered closely related by google ?

Google Index Status Falling Fast - What should I be considering?
Hi Folks, Working on an ecommerce site. I have found a month on month fall in the Index Status continuing since late 2015. This has resulted in around 80% of pages indexed according to Webmaster. I do not seem to have any bad links or server issues. I am in the early stages of working through, updating content and tags but am yet to see a slowing of the fall. If anybody has tips on where to look for to issues or insight to resolve this I would really appreciate it. Thanks everybody! Tim

Would it be wise to reupload my sites images (100 in total) as I cannot rename the files on my wordpress site but it does allow me to add alt text , captions etc?Or just add the data i can to the images allready on the site? Would it be worthwhile in terms of search and pagerank?0 -
How to Index Faster?
Hello, I have a new website and updated fresh content regularly. My indexing status is very slow. When I search how to improve my indexing rate by Google, I found most of the members of Moz community replied there is no certain technique to improve your indexing. Apart from this you should keep posting fresh content more and more and wait for Google Indexing. Some of them asked for submitting sitemap and share posts on Twitter, Facebook and Google Plus. Well the above comments are from the year of 2012. I'm curious to know is there any new technique or methods are used to improve indexing rate? Need your suggestions! Thanks.

Website Displayed by Google as Https: when all Secure Content is Blocked - Causing Index Prob.
Basically, I have no inbound likes going to https://www.mysite.com , but google is indexing the Homepage only as https://www.mysite.com In June, I was re included to the google index after receiving a penalty... Most of my site links recovered fairly well. However my homepage did not recover for its top keywords. Today I notice that when I search for my site, its displayed as https:// Robots.txt blocks all content going to any secure page. Leaving me sort of clueless what I need to do to fix this. Not only does it pose a problem for some users who click, but I think its causing the homepage to have an indexing problem. Any ideas? Redirect the google bot only? Will a canonical tag fix this? Thx

Google images directing to Escaped Fragment instead of #!
Our indexed images in Google images are directing to:
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | CBuy
http://www.cbuy.tv/?escaped_fragment= for example, instead of: the http://www.cbuy.tv/#! version. Is there something we can do on our end to fix this or is this a bug with Google?0 -
Panda Recovery - What is the best way to shrink your index and make Google aware?
We have been hit significantly with Panda and assume that our large index with some pages holding thin/duplicate content being the reason. We have reduced our index size by 95% and have done significant content development on the remaining 5% pages. For the old, removed pages, we have installed 410 responses (Page does not exist any longer) and made sure that they are removed from the sitempa submitted to Google; however after over a month we still see Google spider returning to the same pages and the webmaster tools shows no indicator that Google is shrinking our index size. Are there more effective and automated ways to make Google aware of a smaller index size in hope of Panda recovery? Potentially using the robots.txt file, GWT URL removal tool etc? Thanks /sp80

Blocking Pages Via Robots, Can Images On Those Pages Be Included In Image Search
Hi! I have pages within my forum where visitors can upload photos. When they upload photos they provide a simple statement about the photo but no real information about the image, definitely not enough for the page to be deemed worthy of being indexed. The industry however is one that really leans on images and having the images in Google Image search is important to us. The url structure is like such: domain.com/community/photos/~username~/picture111111.aspx I wish to block the whole folder from Googlebot to prevent these low quality pages from being added to Google's main SERP results. This would be something like this: User-agent: googlebot Disallow: /community/photos/ Can I disallow Googlebot specifically rather than just using User-agent: * which would then allow googlebot-image to pick up the photos? I plan on configuring a way to add meaningful alt attributes and image names to assist in visibility, but the actual act of blocking the pages and getting the images picked up... Is this possible? Thanks! Leona
