Blogging for SEO in Muse 2017

Can anyone give advice about SEO - specifically blogging in Wordpress and embedding it in your Muse site - that is specific to the 2017 updates.

I found a lot of negative information, but that was mostly on forums from 2+ years ago. On their own forums, Muse says that you can get SEO plugins that help with this, but I am not sure I can trust those with clients yet. I have worked in Wordpress for years, but prefer the design freedom adobe provides.

Specifically I am worried about whether the traffic to the site would be credited to the wordpress blog (on a different URL) or if it positively impacts my own URL used for the muse site. Would it be considered duplicate content?

Also, are there any solutions that I don't know to ask about? Thanks in advance for listening.

Confluence and SEO

I think this is a difficult question so apologies in advance and any help would be appreciated! We currently have a large amount of support center content sitting on our main pages which we don’t think is very effective (mainly basic how to guides). We think it is difficult for visitors to understand and the UI is very poor. In order to solve this we’re currently moving this content onto a subdomain using Confluence, a wiki based team collaboration tool (from a company called Atlassian). What we’re planning on doing is very much like what Atlassian themselves have done on this page: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/ALLDOC/Atlassian+Documentation What are the SEO issues / dangers that I need to consider before moving this content? I’m assuming that as this content will still be on the same domain then we can minimise link equity / authority loss by setting up re-directs to the new content. Also, has anyone had any experience of using Confluence and whether individual pages can be optimised for SEO? I notice that there are lots of add-ins that can be used, one of which is an SEO add-on which allows you to customise things like meta description tags.

How does a Responsive Site kill SEO?

How does a Responsive Site poentially kill SEO? I've seen a few feeds on twitter how a website took a rankings dive after implementing a Responsive theme; yet, it's not clear to me what is actually going on within a Responsive site that would cause the SEO rank to tank? I can only speculate that it introduces a bunch of 404 errors, or that it changes all of the URLs into gibberish, so you loose all of the links coming into your website if not 301'ed? Can someone clarify, what are the actual mechanical issues on a Responsive website that becomes a concern to SEO? Thanks.

What is the best information architecture for developing local seo pages?

I think I have a good handle on the external local seo factors such as citations but I'd like to determine the best IA layout for starting a new site or adding new content to a local site. I see lots of small sites with duplicate content pages for each town/area which I know is poor practice. I also see sites that have unique content for each of those pages but it seems like bad design practice, from a user perspective, to create so many pages just for the search engines. To the example... My remodeling company needs to have some top level pages on its site to help the customers learn about my product, call these "Kitchen Remodeling" and "Bathroom Remodeling" for our purposes. Should I build these pages to be helpful to the customer without worrying too much about the SEO for now and focus on subfolders for my immediate area which would target keywords like "Kitchen Remodeling Mytown"? Aside from my future site, which is not a priority, I would like to be equipped to advise on best practices for the website development in situations where I am involved at the beginning of the process rather than just making the local SEO fit after the fact. Implementing a new Nav Bar: Best practice, SEO benefit, your suggestions?

Hi Mozland, We are going to have a new Nav Bar for our site built from the horror that we currently have to up with. We want to make it a simple affair, similar to The Guardian two-tier Nav Bar - main menu which will drop down to the 2nd tier according to what you clicked on in tier one. Regular stuff, I think. Any suggestions, from your experience, about how best to implement this, what to include, what not to do, what can be included and done to make it as best it can be to get people to peruse our site as easily as possible? Blog via iframe or not?

We had our developers install Wordpress in the www.ourmainsite.com/blog directory. Our site is .NET based. Now we asked them to customize the blog's appearance to look like our main site. Here is the proposal from our developers to avoid lots of PHP coding: "In this approach we will create a custom page which will contain an iFrame in the body section. This iFrame will be solely responsible for showing all the blog pages. The template for Blog Pages will be designed in php (except the Header and Footer section). In Short, We will run the wordpress site (Blog) in our [main] Site" My Questions 1. Do the URLs have to stay the same for every page on the blog when using an iframe? (we want unique URLs for every page/post) 2. What are the SEO implications of this method? Will internal linking in the blog help pass all of the link juice throughout the main site and the blog? 3. How difficult is it to match the header, footer, and CSS (font/style/colors) of our main site in the Wordpress installation given that the site is .Net and Wordpress is PHP? Does spending some more time/money now to build everything in PHP without an iframe make sense in the long run? Thanks!

Which ecommerce platform is best for SEO?

We currently run our eyewear store on osCommerce. However, for various reasons we are considering a redevelopment onto another platform, the most obvious choice being Magento. What might the advantage and improvement in SEO with such a change and is the pain worth the gain???

What's the best SEO option for jQuery image carousels?

My client wants a fancy jquery carousel at the top of their home page, as is all the rage these days. I would like to add some nice SEO friendly text to that carousel, but I'm not sure how best to do that..I assume that by keeping the text which will appear in the carousel in divs on the page, which will be swapped out as the images cycle, it should still be easily picked up by search engines?
