In the Moz Site Crawl, what does "External Links" mean?
-
I thought I knew what it meant but am finding instances where the value in the column, "Linking Root Domains" is greater than the value in the column, "External Links?"
Thanks!

External links are simply links which are from websites who have linked to your website.
It would be best to have a mixture of "follow" and also "no follow" links ; the links must be very high quality. Our company sells garden offices, we sell more of these because we have built quality backlinks, this has helped to improve our organic seo

I have seen this before in Moz Open Site Explorer and the "Links" section of a Moz Pro Campaign as well. This appears to be an error and I believe can happen when Moz OSE counts a 301 redirect or a URL shortener (like goo.gl) as a linking root domain, but not as an External Inbound Link.
You are most likely still correct in your understanding if you were thinking that the linking root domain number is the total number of unique ".com's" that are linking to your website, where as the number of External Inbound Links are the total (according to Moz's data) number of links from all websites and pages, including all multiples on different ".com's".

"New" issues not previously found being shown?
I'm not sure what logic Moz is using for its reporting of Site Crawl issues, but it appears to be pretty flawed (unless I'm missing something, which is possible). I've got a client site that has been in Moz for about 6 months now. Every time the crawler runs, the same number of pages are reported as having been crawled. However I'm consistently getting "New Issues" reported that should have been reported during previous crawls. Example: A redirect chain was reported several month ago. The referring URL was the homepage of the website, and we tracked it down to an old link in the header. This was fixed, marked as resolved, and the issue was not shown on the next crawl. Several weeks later, the same issue was reported for a different page on the website - a page which has existed since 2014 and was already crawled many times. Again, we fixed. Fast-forward to the report that just ran on 12/1 and we have the same issue reported, for a different page, which has also existed for years and has been previously crawled. It's very hard to explain to a client "this item you are seeing has been resolved", only to have it continually crop back up in future reports. Note this is not limited to redirect chains - that's just an example. I'm seeing this for other items such as missing canonicals, duplicate titles, etc.

Site Crawl - MOz Pro
Hi There, When i look into my site crawl i have thousands of duplicate content issues. Now they are essentially product pages which are in multiple categories - however we have added the canonical tag so im confused as to why all of these are appearing as if there is an error, does the MOZ bot not take canonicals into account? Kind Regards Gemma

Performed a Moz Crawl Test - Says I have 107 External Links on Homepage??
Hello Mozzers! Exactly at the title suggests, I performed a crawl test on one our sites and the report says we have 107 external links on the homepage and another 34 on one of our internal category pages. On both of these pages I can only find 7 external links, anyone know why the crawl test is saying this? And if Moz is finding these external links could google be doing the same and punishing our site for the high number of external links? Any response appreciated! Richard

We Launched a new site and Rogerbot is still reporting on links/errors from the old site, is there a way to clear those out?
We are mostly a Branding agency, and have not put a lot of effort into SEO for ourselves... SEO tends to take a backseat to design most of the time, making it a little difficult for me at times when it comes to SEO. We recently launched a new site, http://Roninadv.com/ and the developer and I have done quite a bit of work to make it work well for Google. I was really looking forward to a new crawl report from Roger, but alas, It's like Roger crawled the old site? The new site has been up since last Monday. Is there a way to clear out the old errors? Do I just need to give roger more time?

On the Keyword Difficulty tool what do the green boxes and ticks mean?
Hi, I'm trying to figure out what the significance of the colors are in the Keyword Difficulty tool. When I do a search some of the boxes are light green, some dark green and some of them have ticks - any ideas? Thanks, Matt

Where is the Crawl Tool we had before Research?
Hello, I can't seem to find the crawl tool for other domains that aren't in our campaigns. We've lost it 😞 Thanks, Romeo.
