Is there any proof that google can crawl PWA's correctly, yet
-
At the end of 2018 we rolled out our agency website as a PWA. At the time, Google used Chrome (41) headless to render our website. Although all sources announced at the time that it 'should work', we experienced the opposite. As a solution we implement the option for server side rendering, so that we did not experience any negative effects.
We are over a year later. Does anyone have 'evidence' that Google can actually render and correctly interpret client side PWA's?

Ok, so I found some new information. In the article mentioned in this Reddit thread, there is a suggestion that Google is now indexing based on the latest version of Googlebot.
"With Googlebot running on the most recent version of Chrome and JavaScript content being indexed faster than ever, it’s apparent that Google is getting better at indexing JavaScript." Thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/javascript/comments/e4uku1/javascript_indexing_delays_are_still_an_issue_for/

Have Your Thoughts Changed Regarding Canonical Tag Best Practice for Pagination? - Google Ignoring rel= Next/Prev Tagging
Hi there, We have a good-sized eCommerce client that is gearing up for a relaunch. At this point, the staging site follows the previous best practice for pagination (self-referencing canonical tags on each page; rel=next & prev tags referencing the last and next page within the category). Knowing that Google does not support rel=next/prev tags, does that change your thoughts for how to set up canonical tags within a paginated product category? We have some categories that have 500-600 products so creating and canonicalizing to a 'view all' page is not ideal for us. That leaves us with the following options (feel it is worth noting that we are leaving rel=next / prev tags in place): Leave canonical tags as-is, page 2 of the product category will have a canonical tag referencing ?page=2 URL Reference Page 1 of product category on all pages within the category series, page 2 of product category would have canonical tag referencing page 1 (/category/) - this is admittedly what I am leaning toward. Any and all thoughts are appreciated! If this were in relation to an existing website that is not experiencing indexing issues, I wouldn't worry about these. Given we are launching a new site, now is the time to make such a change. Thank you! Joe

Competitor's new site ranking with out much keywords - How?
Hi all, One of our competitors have recently redesigned their website with new content. Now I can see much less keywords in the content. And page title also changed away from keywords. Still this is ranking at good position. How? Previously they used to have much landing pages with related keywords which some of them are missing now. Still I wonder why this website is ranking high? Thanks

We're considering making notable changes to our website's navigation. Other than 301 redirects from old pages to new, what do I need to consider with this type of move or update?
We would like to make some navigation changes to our website: www.NetGainIT.com, specifically to the services section. I know that I will need a list of 301 redirects if I do not plan on keeping certain pages, but what else do I need to consider?

Pagenation - Crawl Issue
Hi,
Web Design | | semvibe
We have a site with large number of products (6000 +) under each categories and so we have made a page under each category to list out all products (View all page), which lists out product in pagenation setup built on Ajax. The problem is only our 1st page is crawlable and all the other pages beyond 1st page remains hidden,
We need make all our pagenation URL’s crawlable, our requirements are we never want a change in URL as user goes to next page, want to show the user the same URL for all the pagenation numbers. Is there a perfect solution?0 -

Can anyone recommend a firm for cross-browser testing?
I'd like to outsource the cross-browser testing and get complete functionality testing across browsers too. I work for an online travel tour operator, so we take a lot of reservations online. I don't totally trust my internal resources using tools like Selenium because we're adding a lot of new functionality to our new site - saved itineraries, wish list, some upselling and cross selling functionality, selling insurance, etc. So, while of course I want to be sure everything renders properly across browsers, I also feel like the investment in having someone check booking process in all browsers/technologies is critical especially since many of our customers are accessing our sites using older browsers. Thoughts??

What's so great about Thesis framework?
I keep hearing about how great Thesis is for SEO. But when I look at the code, it doesn't look like anything special to me -- they followed the basics (proper title, header usage, etc.), pages load quickly, and they packaged things like title and meta control with the theme itself, but none of those things seem particularly special to me. Plenty of SEO plugins give you the same control over title & meta (and the best ones go beyond what Thesis offers) and it's easy to make sure the code is clean. What am I missing?
