Would you suggest submitting a website to a travel platform which gets backlinks from link farms?
-
The website of the travel platform is well designed and looks serious - without any adsense or suspicious links on it. So does the email newsletter of them.
But I checked the domain in OSE and saw not less links which came from more or less linkfarms with very often the same anchor text.
Would you suggest your customer to submit on the platform?
-
Considering you can't get penalised by a backlink form a spammy site ("negative" SEO), I would submit the site to the travel platform if it does no cost much time/money.
Reading your response to Gianluca, it looks like the backlinks are not so spammy so you should do it without fears.
-
I would do more DD and see if those links coming in are going to weigh the site down as noted already by Gianluca. If the linked site has strong trust, and those sites linking to it have some trust, then I would consider getting that link and perhaps informing the travel site with your findings.
-
mmm... well.
Even though I would stay on alert in order to see if the link profile of that portal is going to affect the ranking of the portal itself, therefore the link to your client site, if its competitors are there also your Client site should be there.
But that link would have been just one of a rich link profile, so that something bad can come from it, it won't affect the general health of your client site.

Yes I did.
mT: 5.75
DmT: 3.88
Of the link sources to the directory - sometime bad mT, sometimes not so bad.On that platform there are several huge brands / hotels in there, too.

Question: did you checked the MozTrust metric of that site? And the MozTrust of those supposed link farms?
Because that should be the main metric I would look at.
If I link a to site that links to poor trusted feed, I risk to see reduced my trustrank metric; so I would prefer to no submit my site to it, as I believe the trust metrics of sites are going to play an even bigger role in rankings.

World.edu -- is that a good website to get a backlink from?
I saw the "World.edu" as a place to get a small blog and could create backlinks. But it seems like it may be a PBN which google doesn't like. What are your thoughts of world.edu?

Once you have cleaned up links / disavowed them how to get google to take notice quicker
Once we have contact webmasters and had some links removed / changed from money anchor text to brand anchor text. Or failing that once we have submitted spam URLs to our disavow file, should we just wait and keep and eye on the how quickly google re caches the URLs or should we try and force google to recrawl the urls quicker by submitting them to Google's submit url tool ?

Internal Links - First Link Rule Confusion
Hello All - I would like to create a guide for my team of rules for internal links and I could use some help. My understanding is that Google only counts the first link to a page, so any crafted keyword text links within the content do not count if the page in question is linked to from the main navigation. Is this correct? For example, if the menu or drop down menu in main site nav (which exists on all pages of the site) includes a link to a particular section that will be the only one that ever counts since the menu is on every page? Example: let's say a website selling cat toys includes a drop down menu on the homepage with links to "holiday cat toys". Does this mean that no other text links in content on the site will support that page from an SEO perspective since the link is in the main nav and will always be the first one counted? In the past we have added text links in the content on the homepage to important pages on the site. It seems to work, though now I'm questing these tactics based on the first link rule. I would appreciate some advice, clarification, thoughts, etc. Thanks!

Why am I getting links in my link report from sites that no longer exist?
So, I have a link report from Link Detox. And I'm going through all of them and considering what sites need to be removed. and trying to find emails and contact webmasters. There is just one odd thing i'm starting to see more of. A lot of links are on websites or webpages that no longer exist. The link no longer exists. Some of the domains are even available for purchase. Why are these links showing on the backlink report and are they really harming my website? Also, do I need to add these links into the disavow document that I will submit to Google?

Ecomerce: Would 4 link sections leak too much link juice?
Hello, In my content management for our ecomerce site, I've found that there are sometimes links to sites in our industry that have "helpful links" sections. Several strong sites link directly to these resource sections. There are 4 different topics that fit this trend in our industry. Would it leak too much link juice to make 4 comprehensive link sections and place a link to them on our "Useful Articles" page? Or should I stick to one comprehensive link section? Or perhaps a small link section? Or none at all? Thanks.
