How to measure the competition for online store ?

Hello , first I'm sorry about the beginner's questions , I looking for niche to open online store and try to find niche that there is no bery high competition. something that I can compete in this niche . My main question is how to measure the competition for online store? I mean when I do research on main keywords for the niche store. I see the overview and the SERP Analysis ,which parameters I see as a hard competition? -lets say I take the average of "Linking RDs To Root Domain" , which numbers are ok and no very high ? -I check all the page rank and see the average of first page , how I can if average of 5-6-7 is ok or hard competition? -the sane question is Page Authority , is there is some range that I can see hard competition? If you have some articles that can help me to learn and understand that world , or some place to start there I will be happy Thank you , Mark

How To Ques. Getting ranked on page one for a keyword when you compete with bigger websites/companies/stores

Can David Beat Goliath. I work with small businesses with top products that are up against big brands and their online presence. If I am working with them to create content that meets the needs of all their stakeholders/customers/prospects to generate revenue I wonder if keyword targeting with content can really pay off to get them page one, #1 position ranking. So I ask you this question? How do you create a story for a small online store that can get ranked on page one for a keyword when you compete with bigger websites (or sites with higher domain authority)? I don't need all the basics, I'm just looking for a key insight or tip that you have found or heard is working for a David to beat a Goliath (and hold their position rank once they get highly ranked). We are up against sites - for viable keywords -who have higher domain authority and in some cases more content or link backs. Also, I've notice in situations when I do get to page one and I'm in position 7 MOZ analytics show low to no traffic coming from it? Yikes, what do I do to improve that? These are top keywords.

Can anyone tell what action plan should I follow to optimize my website using SEOmoz PRO?

Dear Sir/Madam, I have been using SEOmoz PRO tool from last 15 days and have used most of the SEO tools and got a fair idea about my sites performance but I am still confused as how can SEOmoz PRO tool help me in optimizing my website.It gives me the comparison reports which is great.But I want to know about what SEO plans should I implement to improve my site's SEO Ranking. About the rankings report in the Pro Dashboard, does it track the ranking of every page on a root domain, or just the home page or whichever page you set up the campaign with?

I noticed that one of the pages on my root domain has a #5 rank for a keyword, yet the ranking report says that there are no results in the top 50. So I am assuming it is only tracking the home page. That is one thing I liked about the Rank Tracker, that it would find any page that was ranking on a root domain. Thanks, Lara

Why does SEOMoz Pro only do Rankings Once a Week?

Not sure I understand why the SEOMoz PRO report of rankings only occurs once a week? Any ideas? Seems like it would be easy to just pull that ranking report at any time.
