Do Older Post Dates Affect Click Throughs From Google ?
-
My Blog Entries appear in Google with a date, do those dates matter ?
Will people stay away from an older date, say 2009 ? Is it worth removing the dates ? Or should I update the entry and change published date ?
-
Good Idea re the follow up post, I did read somewhere that you shouldn't target the same keywords from two different pages, I wonder if this is true ? If it is then I still have the original issue of missing traffic on a good post because of the date.
Maybe I update the original and change the published date.

I'd probably keep the one's you've got and do a follow up post. Maybe cover anything that's changed in recent years etc and refer back to the older post whenever necessary.

The topic is finance and I feel that the dates might impact. So I either need to remove the dates or amend to keep fresh where applicable.
-
Also agree that generally someone might click on newer content if there are articles ranging from 2011 to say 2007.
The way I think the date would impact your article's visibility / clickthrough the most is if people use the tools on the left side of Google and search by date. I find myself using the search by date tool frequently generally selecting the past year or 2-3 months when I know an article was recently published.
-
I think it totally depends on the topic. For example, if I see a blog about SEO from 2008 I'll tend to stay away from it as the information may not be entirely accurate anymore. I'll usually sort my results from most recent posts or posts from the past year.
Would this affect your area?

Where to promote a blog post?
I want to promote a blog post with the littlest invested time. It's not something I need to get ranked high. Just wondering what is the most efficient method or service to broadcast it out there with at least some chance of driving some traffic (other than "just let Google index it") 😉

Guest post prospecting
Am currently struggling with the link prospecting process for guest blogging. Right now, I've been using link prospector or just plain old Google to do link prospecting, However, this can be a really tedious process and finding the right opportunities to pursue for outreach seems to be like finding a needle in a haystack. Is there anyway in which to make this process much, much more easy and efficient, so that high quality and relevant opportunities can be found in quick timing? Also open to tips/advice on a completely different approach, for example trying out guest blog networks (e.g http://myblogguest.com) or something similar to attain sound opportunities. Much appreciated!

Duplicate content problems, so why does WordPress post onto Tumblr?
Hi Everyone, Basically I know that if you have duplicate content your ranking is effected! This I understand, so why is it that WordPress has the option to post your blog entry straight onto your paired Tumblr account? Surely if this can be done, I can have the same content on the company website but also on WP and Tumblr? Or is there some sort of method to how it works specifically for those 2 websites? Thanks in advance.

How do I secure guest posts?
How exactly can you go about getting a guest post on someone else's blog if you don't know them and don't have a budget to offer them anything substantial?

Google still caching old site
Hi all, We just acquired a new domain that was being squatted on by a reseller for a very long time and on the 5th June migrated our site over to it, replacing their advertising holding page. The domain is http://primate.co.uk It's been a week now though and Google hasn't seemed to have updated it's cache. Doing a search for 'primate.co.uk' in Google lists the site but with the old holding page description. Web master tools doesn't report any errors or issues with the site. Does anyone know how we can get Google to index the domain and update it's cache? Cheers, Gordon
