Anchor text in Flash Discoverable by Search Engines?

What recommendations do you all have to make anchor text discoverable in flash? More importantly is it even possible and does it contribute to link juice?

Hi,

Working in SEO I always cringe when a designer mentions Flash. However my phobia of Flash is old school and maybe I need to get with the times. Google will crawl textual content in Flash, including anchor texts. It will also follow links in Flash and presumably applies the same 'link juice' factors that it would normally apply to links.

Google Search Console Showing 404 errors for product pages not in sitemap?

We have some products with url changes over the past several months. Google is showing these as having 404 errors even though they are not in sitemap (sitemap shows the correct NEW url). Is this expected? Will these errors eventually go away/stop being monitored by Google?

Discrepancy between Search Console & LightHouse - CLS shift

Curious if anyone else is having this problem. I have, for example, a page that is listed in Search Console as having a CLS of .44 - it is listed as a "CLS issue." The same page rendered in LightHouse shows 0 for field data CLS and 0.02 for lab data (both in the "green"). It has been over a month since I made updates to the page to improve CLS. I tried to submit a validation in Search Console, but "validation failed." I'm not sure what else to fix on the page when LightHouse data shows it as in the green! I have the same issue with other pages as well.

Google Search console says 'sitemap is blocked by robots?

Google Search console is telling me "Sitemap contains URLs which are blocked by robots.txt." I don't understand why my sitemap is being blocked? My robots.txt look like this: User-Agent: *
Disallow: Sitemap: http://www.website.com/sitemap_index.xml It's a WordPress site, with Yoast SEO installed. Is anyone else having this issue with Google Search console? Does anyone know how I can fix this issue?

Should a sub domain be a separate property in the Search Console?

We're launching a blog on a sub-domain of a corp site (blog.corpsite.com). We already have corpsite.com set up in the Search Console. Should I set up a separate property for this sub-domain in the Search Console (WMT) in order to manage it? Is it necessary? Thanks, JM

Anchor text analysis

Hello! I'm doing a systematic review of my site after getting a bit of a heavy punishment from google last month. I think things are going in the right direction, but wanted some advice on anchor text. Internal search : rel=canonical vs noindex vs robots.txt

Hi everyone, I have a website with a lot of internal search results pages indexed. I'm not asking if they should be indexed or not, I know they should not according to Google's guidelines. And they make a bunch of duplicated pages so I want to solve this problem. The thing is, if I noindex them, the site is gonna lose a non-negligible chunk of traffic : nearly 13% according to google analytics !!! I thought of blocking them in robots.txt. This solution would not keep them out of the index. But the pages appearing in GG SERPS would then look empty (no title, no description), thus their CTR would plummet and I would lose a bit of traffic too... The last idea I had was to use a rel=canonical tag pointing to the original search page (that is empty, without results), but it would probably have the same effect as noindexing them, wouldn't it ? (never tried so I'm not sure of this) Of course I did some research on the subject, but each of my finding recommanded one of the 3 methods only ! One even recommanded noindex+robots.txt block which is stupid because the noindex would then be useless... Is there somebody who can tell me which option is the best to keep this traffic ? My domain does not come in the search results, what do I do?

Hi, I have a website called www.bollykings.com It had a pretty solid rank on google for a number of keywords but 4-5 months back, it was badly affected by the Panda update. Now it comes nowhere. I have started updating and posting new articles on it since the last two months. When I search for "bollykings" on Google.com, website does not come only in the first 40 results. What could this mean?

Redirect Flash Site for Google Only - Is this against TOS?

A photographer client has a flash website, purchased as from a (well respected) template company. The main site is at the root domain, and the HTML version is at www.example.com/?load=html If I visit the site on a browser without Flash installed, I am re-directed automatically to the HTML version. I'm concerned as the site has some great links and the HTML version is well optimised, but doesn't appear anywhere in Google for chosen keywords (ranks perfectly for brand related searches). Google is indexing the Flash version of the site, but I would rather it didn't (there's no real content (just Javascript to load the SWF) and all of the pages load under one URL). How can I block the Flash version from Google but still make the incoming links count towards the HTMl version of the site? If I re-direct Google to the HTML version, is this cloaking, and is it frowned upon? Thanks for any advice you can offer.
