My customer needs to change hosts! What part of the SEO process should I worry about most? Backlinks?
-
I just hired an agency to build quality backlinks and articles....should I worry about the new webhost? Should I wait?
Ill assume if the page names are the same, all will be good. What if they change?
Newbie Help!
Thanks Mozzers.

Thanks itr
Yes, sitename will be the same, just a host provider change. I realize there are other issues related to the switch, but needed confirmation on the back-linking. My intuition (but lack of years of experience) told me all will be well, I needed someone else to settle me down!
Thanks so much itr.

If you are just switching hosts and keep your site and permalink structure the same, you need not worry about backlinks. For some reason if they do change, you should 301 redirect all old articles to their new versions. If you are switching domain names then you definitely need to make sure that you do the 301 redirects as well. I just want to make sure that you have the terms correct?

Web 2.0 Backlinks
Hi Normal Web 2.0 websites like Wordpress.com, blogger.com have very High DA and PA. But when we create a subdomain, DA and PA falls to 1 as Google treats subdomain as new websites. Does it make any sense then to get backlinks from web 2.0 websites? will it help in Google rankings?

Backlinks vs multiple domains
Hello, Our main website is setup on a .com domain and a .ca is setup as a 301 Permanent redirection to the .com. We just signed up to Majestic and found that we had a bunch of backlink linking to the .ca instead of the .com. My question is, is the SEO juice (for DA) being passed by from the .ca to the .com or I should start contacting those websites to get the backlink changed to .com? Thanks

Backlinks from the Same Domain (But Different Pages)
Wayyy back when (in the days of yore) Mr Cutts spelled out in a video that page rank is distributed equally between the external links on the page. If there are two links on a page, each gets passed 50% of the available page rank etc. (Perhaps an oversimplification but bear with me). As a result of this, the company I worked for at the time (this was the dark ages when sidebar homepage links were in vogue) decreed that we would only ever approach a site about a link for a client once, as additional links had little extra SEO Value. Now you could argue that if there are 5 external links, each acquiring 20% of the power, and your site has 2 of those, you are getting 40% of the power, but lets forget the basic math for a minute. I have scoured the web and Mr Cutts' videos and I cannot find the answer to my question: If my site (Site A) has a backlink from SiteB Page 1, and a backlink from SiteB page 2 - does this count as two separate links in the eyes of Google? If the SAME site links out to my site, linking to different pages in different posts, does this give me more SEO benefit? Thanks for your time!

Backlinks from newpapers that requires subscription
Don't know if this has been answered in another post, but what happens to backlinks that requires users to subscribe and/or pay to view the content with the backlink on it?

Some newspaper sites has subscription requirement to view certain content.
Does the backlink drop in value? Or is there any negative effect from this?0 -
Backlink Audit
Hello, I have a quick question for the MOZ readers about my companies current backlink audit. We've noticed many of the backlinks that the Google Webmaster Tool has found come from websites that are no longer in existence or have error messages. Are these websites counting negatively against us or should we ignore them? Thanks! Alex Rubin

How to Check the Amount of Deep Backlinks?
I'm thinking about checking the amount of deep backlinks on my site because I have a hunch that I don't have enough of them. Now, the problem is that I have no idea what tool (on-line or offline) I need to use. I did some Google research but it did not give me any results.

Best way to index backlinks
We have created many high authority back links for our clients and after several months we have noticed 10% or so have actually been indexed (via multiple sources). I am trying to find a way to easily get these backlinks indexed. There is a bunch of software out there, some create RSS feeds and others social bookmark these pages. Any suggestions?
