Home and index.html isted as duplicate page
-
Hello,
www.mountain-solutions.net and www.mountain-solutions.net/index.html are listed under an error for having a duplicate page. They are in fact the same page. I'm wondering how I can remedy this.
Thanks

Hi Ben,
Do you need any more advice on implementing this, or are you good?
-
Tompt has the poit it is recomended to use 301 redirection to avoid problems with canonical tag just make a search in discutions and you'll see some results abbout cannonical tags but if you are carefull it will work fine
-
We are using Canonical URL's to avoid the issue
-
Yes, this is a pretty common problem. You'll want to add a tag just before the area of your index.html file that looks like this:
rel="canonical" href="http://mountain-solutions.net" />
Or, if you want to focus on the www verson and not the non www version:
rel="canonical" href="http://www.mountain-solutions.net" />
-
It's also worth pointing out that www.mountain-solutions.net and mountain-solutions.net also resolve separately so may also be seen as duplicates (this is often referred to as a canonical error).
The process is exactly the same as Cocarcea Ion mentioned, just use a 301 redirection in your .htaccess file if you have access to it.
This site may well help: http://www.websitetodos.com/list/websitetodos/webserver/canonicalnameredirect/canonicalredirect-apache

use 301 httacces redirect, or cannonical tag

Duplicate Content - Multiple URL's
I know a few of these problems come from products being in the same categories but I have no idea how to get rid of the url's that are showing duplicate content when the product is in the exact same place. Hard to explain, but here are URL examples. http://www.ocelco.com/store/pc/www.ocelco.com/store/pc/Bathtub-Floor-Corner-Stainless-Steel-Grab-Bar-Right-Hand-left-hand-pictured-688p3308.htm http://www.ocelco.com/store/pc/www.ocelco.com/store/pc/Bathtub-Floor-Corner-Stainless-Steel-Grab-Bar-Right-Hand-left-hand-pictured-696p3308.htm http://www.ocelco.com/store/pc/Bathtub-Floor-Corner-Stainless-Steel-Grab-Bar-Right-Hand-left-hand-pictured-p3308.htm http://www.ocelco.com/store/pc/Bathtub-Floor-Corner-Stainless-Steel-Grab-Bar-Right-Hand-left-hand-pictured-688p3308.htm Any Idea's how to fix / get rid of these URL's? Thanks!

On Link Analysis tab I my best pages are 301 and 404 pages.
I looked on my redirrect file and found that /* redirects to /v/404.asp.
Moz Pro | | sbetzen
However if you look below at the link analysis the 404 page is getting a 404 error.
The homepage ecowindchimes.com/ is getting a 301 (but I don't know where it is going to).
The third one is also redirected. 1. [No Data] ecowindchimes.com/ ||| 301 ||| 2 ||| 36 2. 2. [No Data] ecowindchimes.com/v/404.asp ||| 404 ||| 2 ||| 34 3. [No Data] 3. ecowindchimes.com/index.html?lang=en-us&target=d2.html ||| 301 ||| 1 ||| 33 So I have 2 questions: 1) should this be fixed? and 2) how? This is a volusion site and I believe the "catchall" redirect was done by them0 -
On Page Grading Not Working
I am not getting any results in on page grading. When I click on add keywords a list of keywords appears that I have previously entered. They have tick boxes next to them and you can filter them but SEO moz is not automtically creating grade reports? Any ideas? Obviously I've set it up wrong somehow.

"Issue: Duplicate Page Content " in Crawl Diagnostics - but sample pages are not related to page indicated with duplicate content
In the crawl diagnostics for my campaign, the duplicate content warnings have been increasing, but when I look at the sample pages that SEOMoz says have duplicate content, they are completely different pages from the page identified. They have different Titles, Meta Descriptions and HTML content and often are different types of pages, i.e. product page appearing as having duplicate content vs. a category page. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Truncate page URLs
We have some pages (for example a contact us form) for which the URL is modified by the CMS depending on the referring page (this helps to put the form submission in context for the sales reps who get the contact submission). The SEOmoz crawler considers each URL a new page -- and so numbers like in diagnostics are all inflated as the same page is listed multiple times (e.g. for too many links) Is there a setting to change what the crawler considers to be the same page? Here are two URLs for the same page that the reports treat as separate pages: http://www.spirent.com/About-Us/Contact_us.aspx?referurl=0F528F4D703D8BB3523738D6373AA8AD http://www.spirent.com/About-Us/Contact_us.aspx?referurl=10ACDA6055244E369395223437FDCF30 The page is actually: http://www.spirent.com/About-Us/Contact_us.aspx Thanks Ken

Duplicate Page Content and Title - Miva - How to fix?
Hi, I'm new to SEOmoz and just diving into it. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I use Miva Merchant as my storefront interface. SEMOz is returning a bunch of duplicate page content and duplicate page titles and I can't figure out what to do about it. It seems it may have something to do with Miva shortlinks. I click on the dup URL's in SEMOz and it brings me to a dead page. I can't figure out where it's coming from. I know without seeing the actual information it'll probably be tough to help me but any suggestions would be appreciated. I try to fix them and come to a point (after about three hours of getting nowhere) it becomes too frustrating. Thanks!

Why do pages with canonical urls show in my report as a "Duplicate Page Title"?
eg: Page One
Moz Pro | | DPSSeomonkey
<title>Page one</title>
No canonical url Page Two
<title>Page one</title> Page two is counted as being a page with a duplicate page title.
Shouldn't it be excluded?0 -
Only Crawling 1 page?
Hi Guys, Any advice much appreciated on this! Recently set up a new campaign on my dashboard with just 5 keywords. The domain is brammer.co.uk and a quick Google site:brammer.co.uk shows a good amount of indexed pages. However - first seomoz tool crawl has only crawled 1 url!! "Last Crawl Completed: Apr. 12th, 2011 Next Crawl Starts: Apr. 17th, 2011" Any ideas what's stopping the tool crawl anymore of the site?? Cheers in advance.. J
