Weird Indexing Question
-
Google has indexed mysite.com/ and mysitem.com/\/ (no idea why). If you click on the /%5C? URL it takes you to mysite.com//. I have a rel=canonical tag on it that goes to mysite.com/ but I was wondering if there was another way to correct the issue.
-
Yes MonaVie as Steve Ollington has said, once it's realised that the two are one of the same, then there is no risk of penalty!
-
It will come out of the index once G realises you've told it that both pages are one and the same. So yeah it will come out.
-
canonical won't get it out of the index though, right? I'm not one of the "trust Google to work things out" people.
-
Try doing the redirect with mysite.com//
The %5C equals \ in URL Escape Code.
Not that I am an expert in this, maybe someone who is a techie will comment.
-
If it's canonical then don't worry!
-
can you do an htaccess redirect with weird characters like %? I ran into problems w/ odd characters before.
-
301 Redirect then wait

Canonicalization, does it still index
If I have 2 pages that are identical but on different domains that our team manages, if we place a rel=canonical tag on the page we prefer/should display, will the page that doesn't have the canonical tag still be indexed and show on SERPs?

Hi, We have moved one of our domain https://www.mycity4kids.com/ in angular js and after that, i observed the major drop in the number of indexed pages. I crosschecked the coding and other important parameters but didn't find any major issue. What could be the reason behind the drop?

I have a young site (6 most) that is almost completely indexed by Google but Bing and Yahoo will only index a few pages. Does anyone have any tips for getting more pages indexed in Bing and Yahoo. The site is registered with Bing Webmaster tools and has a valid XML sitemmap.

301 Redirecting weird URLs with % in them
I've been working on redirecting links reported as 404 in Google webmaster tools. I've stumbled upon 41 URLs that Google is reporting as 404 that include a '%' in the URL, but I don't know how to redirect. Here is an example: URL: bond_information.htm%20Surety%20Bond%20Information,%20with%20FAQ Attempted redirect: redirect 301 /bond_information.htm%20Surety%20Bond%20Information,%20with%20FAQ http://www.mysite.com/ Unfortunately, after implementing the redirect, http://www.mysite.com/bond_information.htm%20Surety%20Bond%20Information,%20with%20FAQ still resolves a 404 error. Anyone successfully fix these errors using Apache .htaccess?

Duplicate titles Question
Hi eveyone, I have around 1000 duplicate titles and meta description. The poblem was that I had pages in my home page and different pages had the same title. For example, index.php/site/articles/should_you_eat_protein_every_2-3_hours_for_muscle_growth/ /index.php/site/articles/should_you_eat_protein_every_2-3_hours_for_muscle_growth/N12//index.php/site/articles/should_you_eat_protein_every_2-3_hours_for_muscle_growth/N1444//index.php/site/articles/should_you_eat_protein_every_2-3_hours_for_muscle_growth/N1448//index.php/site/articles/should_you_eat_protein_every_2-3_hours_for_muscle_growth/N1448/P6//index.php/site/articles/should_you_eat_protein_every_2-3_hours_for_muscle_growth/N1452/I have 172 of the same page!So I took off all the pagination on my home page and just added 'click fo more'. When they click more, it takes them to the category.So my question is will google slowly start deleting or non-indexing these duplicate titles or pages as I have removed it from my website? (Just so that you know I added a canonical link and figuring out how to add page numbers to met titles and meta description tags for categories with pages)

A technical 301 Redirect Question
Alright, I'm taking a chance and stepping into the developer role here...something completely out of my comfort zone so bear with me. We have a pretty site built in PHP (www.dassant.com) and we are coming across some duplicate content issues. For example, these are supposed to be the same page: http://www.dassant.com/products.php and http://www.dassant.com/products So the SEO in me states the obvious: We need a 301 redirect stat! Unfortunately, our developer went MIA and I am having the hardest time getting a 301 implemented. After some research I found the code that I need to paste into the PHP (for this specific page): Header( "HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently" );
Technical SEO | | EssEEmily
Header( "Location: http://www.dassant.com/products" );
?> However, when I paste it in, upload and refresh the page, I get these error messages in the (multiple) browsers I use. (See attached) http://imgur.com/a/1lar5 With my limited knowledge I can't find these supposed other redirects so I'm stumped. Can anyone shed some light? Thank you in advance! 1lar50
