OSE Latest Update?
-
As of yesterday's OSE update alot of sites that I'm tracking saw their PA & DA drop significantly. This was for multiple sites, whereas last month's index saw those stats increase significantly. Has anybody else seen this happen to them and perhaps drawn any conclusions?

Hi everyone. We at SEOmoz are aware of the problem and are looking into it. I've asked an OSE engineer to respond in the thread at http://www.seomoz.org/q/link-analysis so please look over there (we'll also give a brief update on Twitter too) . I'm closing this thread so we can keep things to one thread.

Tweet from a few minutes ago:
Good morning everyone. We've seen the tweets and Q&A about OSE and will update here with information soon.

Hi Michael,
If you have concerns about changes in data with the latest update, the quickest and most effective way of getting answers is to email the Help Team direct using help [at] seomoz.org.
Moz Staff do not routinely read the Q&A,so are unlikely to be aware of issues unless they are specifically alerted to an thread by an Associate who happens to see it.

Update in Moz spider/tools?? Flagging duplicate content / ignoring canonical
Hi all, Has there been an update in the SEOmoz crawling software? We now have thousands of dupe content/page title warnings for paginated product page URLs that have correctly formatted canonicals. e.g. http://www.woolovers.com/british-wool/mens/tweed-green/wool-countryman-suede-patch-sweater.aspx ... has following pages with identical content that have been flagged: http://www.woolovers.com/british-wool/mens/olive-green/wool-countryman-suede-patch-sweater.aspx?p=true&rspage=4 http://www.woolovers.com/british-wool/mens/olive-green/wool-countryman-suede-patch-sweater.aspx?p=true&rspage=6 http://www.woolovers.com/british-wool/mens/olive-green/wool-countryman-suede-patch-sweater.aspx?p=true&rspage=4 ..plus 4 more URL's. But they all have canonical set. There's even a notice at the bottom of report that tells us there's a canonical set to http://www.woolovers.com/british-wool/mens/tweed-green/wool-countryman-suede-patch-sweater.aspx What gives, SEOmoz ?? Thanks Michael

HTTPS on OSE
Just wondering if any of the Moz team can give us a heads up when open site explorer will support HTTPS?

Discrepancy in OSE data
When I look up a domain in OSE, it shows that there are 3K+ links from 349 domains. However, when I download the CSV, I only see around 1,500 links. Why the discrepancy?

You've recently updated your brand rules. We're fetching your new data, and we should have it ready for you within the hour.
Why do i always see this message when entering a certain campaign? "You've recently updated your brand rules. We're fetching your new data, and we should have it ready for you within the hour." I didnt change a thing since i started this campaign two-three weeks ago ...

How often does the competitive link checker get updated?
I just found a link in the competitive link checker that links to a couple of my competitors. The checker says that i do not have a link on that page, but there is one.. i recently (last week) obtained that link. So that raises the question: how many times is the competitive link checker updated? kind regards

Why does it take so long for SeoMoz to update data?
I changed the Anchor Text of 4 40/100 MozRank sites 2 months ago, yet SeoMoz still shows the old Anchor text in the reports. Why is this taking so long? I also notice my inbound domains hasn't increased nor has my MozRank in 3-4 weeks. What's the turnaround?

Press Release - using moz bar/OSE is reading domain not page? How? Why?
A question posed by Christopher Glaeser from early today:low PA high DA, had a follow up response from him providing 2 urls from PR WEB for separate press releases: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/11/prweb8923419.htm (HP White) On moz bar Page Analysis/Link Data = PA - 47 DA - 36 http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/12/prweb9051351.htm (Golfer's Advice) On moz bar Page Analysis/Link Data = PA - 1 DA - 96 I kept scratching my head as to how a press release of 6 weeks ago had garnered such attention from a company that would not seem to have a huge traffic due to more obscure product offering and scientific subject (Analyses of Armor Industry versus Golf Advice).

Then I realized that for HP White, Link Data was not about the PR. The url from mozbar was HPWhite.com not the above, I did not notice until I used OSE where same thing was happening. When I cut and pasted the above press release url for HP White and placed it in OSE this changed: PA - 49 DA - 96 (2 links 2 linking root domains) For Golfers advice (0 links from 0 linking domains) Note to all: the links to the PR WEB release for the HP included a low end directory type link and a link from PR WEB (. For Golfer's Advice there was not a link back to the release from PR WEB: Note that Golfer's Advice is a newer release (6 weeks). So, any link from HPWhite release would equal more juice to HP White and PR Web and Vocus. Any link to Golfer's Advice from release offers......???? to Golfer's Advice and who cares to Vocus and PR Web. So, I guess this begs a couple of questions: Why the mozbar link analysis difference for one versus the other? Does PR Web treat some differently than others? Who benefits most from me paying a PR Web to do press releases for a client, PR Web and Vocus or my client and I???? I have tried to order the images to make sense: L to R top, then bottom is last. OSE Advanced for specific directory only?
Pls how do I set up Open Site Explorer Advanced to look for backlinks to files in ONLY a certain directory? so if the domain is 1234.com, I don't care about links to 1234.com. OSE can find those very neatly! What I do care about is ONLY links to 1234.com/profiles and I can't seem to figure out a way to do this. the /profiles directory has thousands of profiles in it - and we think we have hundreds of thousands of backlinks - so ideally, I'd like to use regex or DOS like filtering to look at only those which start with 9 or 8 or whatever.
