What are the top three CMS providers you suggest?
-
I am on the process of redoing my site and would like to know what the the top three CMS providers you suggest. The more information, the better.
Thanks

Hmm, so you could be held to ransom for your own site?
I'm not saying for one minute that the company is bad or anything but the problem with this type of thing is never about how much they charge, it's about the level of service... if staff changes or they take on a bigger client, or any number of things that result in you getting low service, what are you ever going to do about it in that situation?
What if the site and CMS used is no good for SEO purposes, what if they don't allow changes and don't allow others to access the source code. What if things go wrong with hosting or anything else to do with the site?
I would just get the whole thing built in an open source CMS by someone and hosted somewhere you have full access to if I were you.
-
I guess I need to talk to my the company that will build the site. They have a CMS that they want to charge me 20.00 a month to use. I was under the impression they will building the site and then integrating it.
-
You're not having the CMS as the whole site?
-
So I can use Wordpress as the CMS without using wordpress for the rest of the site?
-
ExpressionEngine is great too.
-
Joomla, Wordpress, and Drupal. Just don't get a bespoke one made, pick the wrong company to do it and you'll be stuck in an eternal nightmare.

Does an subdomain hosted offsite provide SEO value
We have a job board hosted through an applicant processing system which we've setup as a subdomain (jobs.ourcompany.com), most of the assets are hosted on our primary domain (ourcompany.com). My question is does having it hosted offsite provide any value? Do we get credit for that content being shared and distributed on the web or does the applicant processing system? As I see it the options are (correct me if I'm wrong): Host the job listings on our primary domain (ourcompany.com/jobs) and have it point to the application on the subdomain. Advertise the job listings pointing to the primary domain on the paid sites. The free job listing sites will automatically point to the sub-domain because the applicant processing system automatically submits them. Host the job listings entirely on the sub-domain applicant tracking system and link to it from our primary site navigation. Advertise the job listings to the sub-domain so that both free and paid point to the same place. Obviously the second one would be much easier just not sure on the technical side of our website getting credit by search engines as the one who has produced the content.

Website Redesign / Switching CMS / .aspx and .html extensions question
Hello everyone, We're currently preparing a website redesign for one of our important websites. It is our most important website, having good rankings and a lot of visitors from Search Engines, so we want to be really careful with the redesign. Our strategy is to keep as much in place as possible. At first, we are only changing the styling of the website, we will keep the content, the structure, and as much as URLs the same as possible. However, we are switching from a custom build CMS system which created URLs like www.homepage.com/default-en.aspx
Technical SEO | | NielsB
No we would like to keep this URL the same , but our new CMS system does not support this kind of URLs. The same with for instance the URL: www.homepage.com/products.html
We're not able to recreate this URL in our new CMS. What would be the best strategy for SEO? Keep the URLs like this:
www.homepage.com/default-en
www.homepage.com/products Or doesn't it really matter, since Google we view these as completely different URLs? And, what would the impact of this changes in URLs be? Thanks a lot in advance! Best Regards, Jorg1 -
Moving content from CMS pages to a blog - 301 or rel canonical?
Our site has some useful information buried in out-of-the-way CMS pages, and I feel like this content is more suited to our blog. What's my best method here? 1. Move the content to a blog post, delete the original page, and 301. 2. Move the content to a blog post, leave the original page up, and rel canonical. 3. Rewrite the content so it's not a duplicate, keep original page up, and post rewritten content on the blog. 4. Something else. Some of this content has inbound links and some does not. Quite a bit of it gets long-tail traffic already. It just looks kludgy because it's on pages that really aren't designed for articles. It would look much nicer and be much more readable/shareable/linkable on the blog.

Hit hard by EMD update, used to be #1 now not in top 50, what can I do?
We have what I think is a pretty good site, unique articles a few widgets, lots of reviews, decent enough bounce rates and user times (60% and 2:15) based on drupal. Previous updates haven't touched us and an almost identical duplicate (same site compltely different content) of the site targetting a different but related EMD is unaffected which provides a control. I have seen some discussion on it having to do with link profiles. We did pay some backlinkers to link to us, much more on the site that has dropped, and quite a few for a partial match keyword. I'm supposing this is a lot of the issue. If we try and delete these backlinks will it make the situation better or worse? I have also notice some duplicate content warnings in seomoz that weren't there previously. Any ideas?
