Content that is split into 4 pages, should I consolidate?
-
I am working on improving a website that has each section split into four pages.
For example, if Indonesia Vacation was a section, it would have its main page, www.domain.com/indonesia-vacation, and the about, fact sheet, and tips on three other pages
www.domain.com/indonesia-vacation-1
www.domain.com/indonesia-vacation-2
www.domain.com/indonesia-vacation-3
The pages share very similar title tags and I am worried it is hurting the main page for placement..
So to conserve link juice, would it make sense to have them all one page? There is not so much content that it would affect load time.
My strategy would be to have all content available and part of the main page and 301 the three URL's back to the main page: www.domain.com/indonesia-vacation
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!

Yeah I'd recommend consolidating the content onto one page, and 301 redirect the old pages to the new version.
If there are clear differences between 2 or more sections of the content then it's not a problem to have those parts of content on separate pages as they're targeting different keywords.
The less "thin" content, the better.
Cheers

Hi Bjorn,
I am only trying to rank the main page.
I feel, because of the shared keywords and similar title tags, the other 3 pages will compete against the main page.
Does that make sense?
-
Are you trying to rank for different keywords on these pages?
-
If we're talking distinct content I would keep them as separate pages. If they're light on content (i.e. you have more images than text) then I might consider consolidation but, in general, more distinct pages with more distinct content is a good thing for SEO. Honestly, conserving link juice should be a tertiary concern at best.

Web accessibility - High Contrast web pages, duplicate content and SEO
Hi all, I'm working with a client who has various URL variations to display their content in High Contrast and Low Contrast. It feels like quite an old way of doing things. The URLs look like this: domain.com/bespoke-curtain-making/ - Default URL

domain.com/bespoke-curtain-making/?style=hc - High Contrast page
domain.com/bespoke-curtain-making/?style=lc - Low Contrast page My questions are: Surely this content is duplicate content according to a search engine Should the different versions have a meta noindex directive in the header? Is there a better way of serving these pages? Thanks.0 -

Consolidating numerous landing pages using similar search terms
Hi, The site I am working on currently uses numerous pages for search terms with similar keywords. vehicle wrapping / vehicle wraps / car wrapping / car wraps / van wrapping / van wraps etc Now obviously i want to bring these into one to help create one high authority page covering all terms. At present the "car wraps" page is ranking for quite a few of these terms. Am i best to stick with this or chose the highest search term being car wrapping, and pass the dribbles of juice from the rest and "car wraps" onto this? This is aimed at a local demographic so the local terms will be thrown in too unless you think the places pages will work in favour? Many thanks,

Can a home page penalty cause a drop in rankings for all pages?
All my main keywords have dropped out of the SERPS. Could it be that the home page (the strongest) page has been devalued and therefore 'link juice' that used to spread throughout the site is no longer doing so. Would this cause all other pages to drop? I just can't understand how all my pages have lost rankings. The site is still indexed so there's no problem there.

Deep Page is Ranking for Main Keyword, But I Want the Home Page to Rank
A deep page is ranking for a competitive and essential keyword, I'd like the home page to rank. The main reasons are probably: This specific page is optimized for just that keyword. Contains keyword in URL I've optimized the home page for this keyword as much as possible without sacrificing the integrity of the home page and the other keywords I need to maintain. My main question is: If I use a 301 redirect on this deep page to the home page, am I risking my current ranking, or will my home page replace it on the SERPs? Thanks so much in advance!

High number of items per page or low number with more category pages?
In SEO terms, what would be the best method: High number of items per page or low number with more pages? For example, this category listing here: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/90/fsx-civil-aircraft/ It has 10 items per page. Would there be any benefit of changing a listing like that to 20 items in order to decrease the number of pages in the category? Also, what other ways could you increase the SEO of category listings like that?
