How much attention do you pay to hashtags in your tweets?
-
I haven't really paid much attention to adding hashtags to my tweets, but I'm thinking I should.
For my real estate site I just started following the mayor of our city. I noticed that he finishes each of his tweets with #ourcityname. I clicked on the hashtag because I wanted to find more people who tweet about our city. Then, I suddenly realized that if I used that hashtag when I tweet then other people would find me and follow me.
Any thoughts?

I can't remember which conference it was at the moment, but a Googler talked about how if you have too many hashtags they see that as spam and it might not make it into the real time search. I know some people just have fun with the hashtags, but we use them in our tweets for things like #SEO #socialmedia #analytics, etc whenver it makes sense.

I rarely pay any attention to them

Hashtags are extremely useful and one of the unique elements of Twitter that makes it so useful. You can set up search queries to automatically list all hashtags in separate lists (these would be topics you would be interested in following) and find new people to follow by searching for hashtags in Twitters search box. In the inverse, you make yourself findable, and more likely to be followed, if you include hashtags in your tweets. Include a hashtag for the topic or subject for which you want to be found - it could be industry (#realestate or #realtor) or your location #cityname or a combo - #cityrealestate. Simply do a search and see what people are tagging. I use Tweetdeck to track my industry hashtags.

"So put the hashtag once or twice in a tweet. Many Twitter-user do searches."
Agree. Using them a few times to help make them more visible for certain subject matter is really important. I have been known to use 3 or 4 "hashtags" in a single 'tweet,' but I wouldn't recommend doing it on a regular basis. It seems to take away from the professionalism of your 'tweet.'

Hashtags in tweets are important, but try not to oweruse them. #It #kind of #look silly, when nearly every #word has a #hashtag. So put the hashtag once or twice in a tweet. Many Twitter-user do searches.

Is constant contact a good source for seo links? how about best of the web? Is tweet angels a smart move? anybody got a good list of strong DA and PA link companies you can do business with and also get strong follow links from? thanks...
Thanks for all you guys do I am writing because I am trying to build a company's SEO link profile with links that have super high, and super stable Domain and Page Authorities (as well as solid Trust and Citation flows). I do this organically and even build my own sites using moz strategies - BUT, I am in need of your best advice: What are some links you can "buy" (as a result of using services from) that are strong and dofollow? Is Constant Contact good? Is Best of the Web good? tweetangels smart? I have seen several businesses with constant contact links (very high domain authority) on their profiles and as the head of business development for a mid-sized marketing firm, I want to see if constant contact, botweb, etc. are smart sources to put my clients on for the sake of the seo profile links - I am looking for strong, long-term perma-bumps for my companies and don't want to miss out on low-hanging fruit (that won't poison me in the end). Can you speak to that please? Do you guys have a list of directory links or 'whatever' links that are "get-able" by a regular guy like me that are not simply 2.0 nofollow? Thank you Ben

Should URLs in tweets be spelled out or shortened?
For SEO purposes to get links, does it make any difference whether URLs are shortened? Do the search engines analyze key words in twitter URLs for relevance?

How much of an impact does Google+ page age have?
Do Google+ pages gain authority with age? Does it matter very much if I wait a few months to make a Google+ page as opposed to establishing it now, even if I won't be doing much work on it for a while?

Influential users who have retweeted my tweet
I was wondering why I see my account in most of the "Influential users who have retweeted my tweet"? As I know, I don't retweet my own tweet 🙂

What is more important, tweets/shares or traditional link building?
SMM has a presence that is just growing and growing. I'm hearing all these back and forth talks about how tweets/shares are influencing rankings more than traditional link building would. If so, would this be a short term ranking improvement, long term? What percentage would you say SMM (ranking factor) has when ranking a website in the SERPS.

How much power does using keywords on Facebook and Twitter have from an SEO perspective?
Hi all, When we add a new Christmas party package onto our website I always tweet about it with a link to the party page, utilizing a tweet such as : "New Manchester Christmas parties", followed by the link. How much power (if any) does utilizing the key phrase Manchester Christmas parties have on SEO for that page? Bearing in mind the link is shortened and doesn't mention the keywords anywhere in it, they are only present in the tweet itself. Similarly, on our company Facebook page I always post a link with a title such as "check out our new Manchester Christmas parties". Does this have much SEO benefit for the page I'm directing the link to? Many thanks!!
