Rankings are changing all the time

Hi there!
My client has a webpage http://www.finlotto.fi. It's a lottery in the Internet.
We are trying to dominate keyword "lotto". It's a high volume keyword that has over 135 000 local searches (exact) per month.
However, it seems that there aren't much competition out there. We have only one competitor - Veikkaus.fi
The issue:
We usually have first page ranking only for 2 days max, then we got dropped to third page. Two days later we have first page ranking again. Then we got dropped again to third page. This happens all the time.
the odd thing: when we are in the first page, there are a date in the beginning of the META description. When we got dropped to third page, the date disappears.
I know this has something to do with crawling. Can you give me some answers considering this issue? I'd be VERY VERY grateful

Hello Teemu,
My guess is that Google sees the "lotto" query as a "QDF" query. It means that Google associates this keyword with search results that would change from day to day or week to week. Since lotteries change frequently this seems pretty accurate to me. It's also why you would see a date next to your meta description when it is ranking high. Google is saying "Here is some recent content from X date, i'll show this at the top of the SERPS since it's current"
I recommend watching the Whiteboard Friday on QDF, this will give you an idea of why Google is behaving this way and how you can take advantage of it to try and maintain the top positions as often as possible.
Good luck!

How much does Domain Authority effect the keywords I can rank for?
I've been doing some keyword research and i've found a few gems. My site is currently sat at a 18 domain authority up from 12, so it's great to see the improvement. Although I was wondering, if my domain authority is sat a 18, can I compete with keywords that have a difficulty of 50-60? Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂 Sam

Webmaster Rankings vs. Moz Rankings
Hello all. For quite some time, both Moz & Ahrefs have indicated to me that I am in first position for several keywords. However, when I go into my Google Webmaster Tools, it says that I am in 7th or 8th position. Any idea why there is such a discrepancy?

Wrong page ranking for keyword.
I have a page i'm trying to rank for certain keywords around "emergency vet clinic" the page is domain.com/emergency-vet-care but my home page is the one that is ranking better and better. How can I get the other page to rank for e.g. "emergency vet care" , "emergency animal care" and the main page to rank for just regular vet care? My on page looks pretty good. I've also taken out most references to emergency care on the main home page except for the one link to it. Thanks

Changing your primary keyword to target seasonal demands
The industry that my 3-commerce store caters toward has seasonal demands. For example (this is not my industry but the idea applies), let's assume that I have a sporting goods store and that I sell footballs in the fall, but I sell more baseballs in the summer. Would you ever consider changing the primary keyword on the HomePage title and within the body to target different keywords (football vs baseball) during different seasons (fall vs summer)? Or would you just create individual product pages which target the keywords and link back internally to your homepage? Or is there a better way to target seasonal demands where conversions for the entire website vary greatly from season to season. Sorry for all the elementary questions.

What is the time frame for the search volume on a Keyword?
Let's say I search for AP automation and the search volume comes back as 210, where did that number come from? Is this how many searches by day, by week, year to date, etc.?

After 10th August ranking has changed
Good evening, I hava a questiong regardin the ranking after 10th August. I hava an online tire shop and the ranking has changed that means I was on the first position on search term "anvelope" and now I am on the 3 rd place. I have unique content, few duplicate content and still in front of my site there are sites with huge duplicate content and not so unique. Is it a coincidence that the position has changed on the 10 August or I was affected by Emanuel? How Emanuel update can affect an online tire shop? In other city's I am on the firs place. My site is www.anvelope.ro Thank's Florin

Is there a way to check what keywords a competitor is ranking for?
Hi Guys I have been working on a site and I'm doing better but I just want to ensure I am covering all the bases. I have a list of competitors and I want to see if I can find out what keywords they are ranking for so I can research and see if there is any merit in me trying to rank for those keywords also? Is there any software or processes that any of you can recommend? Thanks

So if you rank well for the long tail, does that help your ranking for the short tail?
So say for instance you rank well in "online medical billing software." Does that help or influence your rank for derivatives of it (eg: "medical billing," "billing software," or "online medical billing")?
