How does google react to duplicate shops on ecommerce sites

Surely shopping cart sites are going to have a lot of duplicate content? Does google recognise this? Is there anything I can do let google know?

That depends on the eCommerce you are using. If it an open source one, check for SEO/SEF plugins in the community or ask help in the developers community asking for plugins/module that offers you that opportunity.

In your case my suggestion is to use this kind of URL structure for product pages: www.domain.com/product This way, independently of the categories it is part of, users and search engines will see just one url and you will avoid inopportune duplication.

I suppose I do mean in relation to just one site.
Yes, some products are going to go in more than one category - it makes it more usable.
My products are pretty.. well, simple! There's nothing I can talk about for ages so each page has an image one line of text (maybe 3 at most) and then obviously like most shops - links to other products.
It just occured to me today that if it were any other site and not a shop -it would look a bit spammy.

With shopping cart do you mean literally the shopping cart an user have while shopping in an eCommerce? If it is so they are not seen and crawled, therefore no duplication issues are existing.
If you mean that different eCommerce sites can have identical content one each other... yes, if they both use the same product description. In that case, if they do not have done anything to add value to that description (i.e.: ugc content like reviews, comments, testimonials), then Google with see them as substantially duplicates.
If the duplication is related to just one site (i.e.: product in different categories and bad urls'architecture), then Google will filter the product pages and show only the most relevant... but if the duplication issue is affecting the highest percentage of the site (and, also, the descriptions are thin and identical to others sites ones)... then the risk of being pandasized is quite big, as it happened with the last version of Panda, the 2.5

Does Google consider breadcrumbs to be duplicate titles?
Moz has been flagging a lot of our articles for duplicate titles. I noticed that the website was automatically generating the same words that were used for the titles above the articles and main images. But those are bread crumbs. Does anyone know if Google also considers those duplicate titles? Will having duplicate content on four websites cause a problem?
A client of ours has four websites for different shops they run in the surrounding area. Each website has original content as well as duplicate content. This is for things like product advice which needs to be the same Will having duplicate content on these four websites cause a problem? How can it be mitigated? We can't refer the visitor to another website to get the product information as this will break the user experience, and of course shopping cart sessions will not pass on.

**I received this email from a lady who wishes to write articles and post them on my site under my news section . Ok, if its quality I dont mind hiring somebody to create a post. Her proposal is as follows and this is her email :-**Basically what I can offer is to write a couple of articles for your News section, something fun and interesting for your visitors which will hopefully drag some traffic your way. I could make them well suited to your site and I could include in each a link to a client of mine - one who wants to be exposed on a good site like yours - and for doing that I can offer you compensation of £33 for each client link - 1 per article. For example, one client is Watches of Switzerland, so I could write an article about ideal wedding gifts for a groom maybe, or something about a perfect Honeymoon destination like Switzerland, and slip a link in there. Other clients include Weddingsite and Lampcommerce - which could be included in something about making a matrimonial home. There are a few stipulations I would need to abide by, like - the article would need to be 500 words, it would need the link to be a 'do follow' link, it would need a picture or two, and it would need a couple of 'sacrifice links' (just links to Wikipedia or something to make it more Google friendly). Advice on Security Concerns for WordPress Site
My company has a WordPress site (URL is learn.automationdirect.com) It is a very simple site and is currently under utilized. I would like to make some SEO improvements to it by activating comments and installing an SEO plugin like Yoast but, I am being help back by concerns about the sites security. Is there some sort of suggestion/advice you guys can point me to that will help get the site to a place where we are confident in it's security level, and I can move forward with optimizing it?

Duplicate Ttile and Duplicate Content
I'm a beginner of SEO. I have a few questions need to ask people to help. The MozPro's Crawl Diagnostics show I have a lot of duplicate titles and duplicate content. However, most duplicate titles are related to Pagination. What should I do? Also, for my duplicate content. B/c we are selling similar products,everything all most the same, only product's item number different. How can I avoid it?

Help with Duplicate Content Issue for pages...
I have pages with duplicate content, i want to put them on hold while i write unique content as i do not want to get marked down for it. I also want to keep the urls and use them again.

There are about 300 pages affected by duplicate content currently. Am i best doing 302 redirects as it is temporary? to the origional source of the content, or canonical tags no index? The pages are currently indexed and cahced by google, i want to use the url in the future for unique content to get it valued by Google. Any advice much appreciated. Kind Regards,0 -
Index pdf files but redirecto to site
Hi, One of our clients has tons of PDFs (manuals, etc.) and frequently gets good rankings for the direct PDF link. While we're happy about the PDFs attracting users' attention, we'd like to redirect them to the site where the original PDF link is published and avoid that people open the pdf directly. In short, we'd like to index the PDFs, but show to users the pdf link within a site - how should we proceed to do that? Thanks, GM
