Getting reviews to stick on Yelp & Google
-
Do you have any tricks to getting reviews to stick on yelp?
Whenever we ask out customers to review us on there their reviews end up getting "detected" as fakes.
I have tried it out myself, and the only way i've gotten them to stick is making several reviews of various different local businesses with average ratings and then dropping one in for the client with a better rating.
Perhaps this is a little on the blackhat/greyhat side of things. But if our customers are legitimatly trying to review us and it doesn't stick, i don't feel all that bad taking this route, the only real problem is time consumed.
What about google? has anyone had any luck gaining more reviews for their client on google?

I have an account on Yelp with 19 real reviews. The only one that displays is a one star bad review. All the rest of the 18 are five stars and they hide them as "filtered". This is a sham company. There has to be a solution to this.........

That's a tough one. As you probably know Google changes the rules constantly. It seems to me that whether or not reviews show up has mostly to do with whether or not Google has crawled the page where the review is and updated it's index to include the info. It usually takes a few weeks from when the review is posted.
As far as ability to choose, sure they could, but they don't. Google like to make algorithmic changes rather than individual moderation, which does make sense given the volume of data they are working with.

Hi Ben,
How about getting reviews that google takes from insiderpages.com or yahoo local, for example, and having them show up at all? Does google have the ability to choose which reviews it draws from these sites and to place on Google Places pages?
-
No stars, but they do improve your local seo rankings. A few of my clients have had personal visits from Google local reps who have been able to get reviews re-posted. With Yelp, the user usually has to write more than one review to avoid deletion.
-
Thanks! that was very helpful!
Have you had any luck getting reviews to stick with google and yelp though? I noticed that the only reviews that translate to actual stars on google are google user's reviews. Are you noticing stars apearing from homestars.com and canpages.ca?
Also, i have seen some n49.ca reviews stick btw.

These sites are getting reviews indexed by Google for canada local businessess
-
which site? google or yelp? and where? got an example?
-
Personally I haven't experienced this deleted reviews situations. I'm seeing plenty of fake reviews.
-
That seems to be an american only site. doesn't really solve my problem, as i am in canada.
Also, it seems that the only reviews that show stars next to the number of reviews are google reviews.
I'm open to hearing other peoples opinions on the matter.

There's really no way around it. Google/Yelp have decided that unless a user is active over a period of time and reviewing several different businesses, the person must be a fake. They can't tell the difference and commonly delete reviews. Many of my local business clients have had legitimate reviews deleted. I've been recommending insiderpages.com since it is easier to get the reviews to stick and they still get indexed by Google.

Google instantly suspends Google+ local listing of brand new company
I just tried to create a Google+ listing for a client. It's a brand new company. As soon as I submit the listing, I get an error message: "Google has suspended your page due to quality issues." There is no content on the listing, no website, etc. Just their NAP. All I can guess is their business address or phone number is on a blacklist due to some previous tenant/owner. Does Google keep a blacklist of addresses and/or phone numbers? Any other ideas?

How can we boost our rankings in a London-based Google search?
Hi all, I work for enterprise app development & mobile consultancy, Mubaloo. We tend to rank fairly well on Google for our targeted keywords in the Bristol area but not as well in London. Obviously there is more competition in London but that aside, we still don't rank brilliantly. We use our London address as our main address on our website, same for our London telephone number. Both of our offices are submitted to Google Maps and we include blog content with London and Bristol in the headers. Our main HQ is in Bristol but the London office is growing. What are the ways we can improve our rankings from a London-based Google search? Thank you in advance!

Google + Business Listing created with lost gmail account
Hi I wondered whether anyone can give me some guidance on how best to tackle this issue. A client of mine has claimed their spot on google Maps and has created a very basic local page on google + but now has forgotten their password for the gmail account. A colleague of mine has tried unsuccessfully to retrieve the password and to claim the listing. Question I have is - would you suggest creating a new gmail account for the client and a completely Google + local and claim the duplicate? I am so wary of local at the moment as the guidelines seem to be constantly shifting. Oh and I am based in New Zealand so all the most recent changes announced for the US haven't meandered their way over as far as here yet! Any responses gratefully received

Help - Google places,a service my competitor has used...
I was just doing a bit of detective work on a competitors website and noticed they had employed the services of an SEO company. Anyway, i went on this SEO companies website and discovered they offer a service called "Google places". Now I have an idea what google places is (my company is registered with it) but how are SEOs using Google places as a method for SEO? And how can I copy this service to do this for my own website?

Issues with google places.
Hey there! A few weeks ago I made some changes to my client's "google places page". I am facing two issues there which I could not resolve on my own, they are: After I made changes and updated the page I could not see any activity on the analytics section whereas before I updated the page there was some metrics visible. The client had already claimed his places page before he came to me and entered some information. He just stuffed some keywords in the description section. I made necessary changes to the description based on the best practices for places page and according to Google's guideline for creating a great listing. The problem is the category did not update on the places page that show up in SERPs(it ranks top for four major keywords with geo indicators). However, the changes I made does appear when on the lower left side when I login into my places page. I don't see any link that will let me edit "description". Am I confusing some other section with category? I have tried to be as lucid as possible. I will appreciate any help. Thanks for your time. epMp kPWpf

Url in Google Places bulk upload
Hi, I'm preparing a bulk upload for Google Places and have a question about the url of every individual place. The website is structured this was: www.website.com/entrepreneur-X
Image & Video Optimization | | nvs.nim
www.website.com/entrepreneur-Y
... But you can reach every individual entrepreneur like this as well: www.entrepreneur-x.com
www.entrepreneur-y.com
...these URL's redirect to the pages listed above and they use the e-mail address info@entrepreneur-y.com Should I use www.website.com/entrepreneur-X or www.entrepreneur-x.com in the bulk upload? I think it's best using www.website.com/entrepreneur-x because the other url is a redirect. What do you guys think??1
