I'm from Brazil, I have a client who is www.tiffanybrasil.com.br and the key word it is -> "cadeiras tiffany" or "cadeira tiffany" are coming in 3rd in the organic. Only the domain www.cadeirastiffany.com.br is appearing in the 1st and 2nd Place. Question 1: Why is that? appearing in the 1st and 2nd Place. Question 2: It shall be possible to pass an absolute domain?

  • I'm starting to use my blog more and wanted to ask about an issue I've read about on SEOmoz in the past. I use blogger instead of wordpress. It's quick and simple - I have no interest in switching to wordpress for this particular blog. My blog is currently setup as blog.site.com. Is it still important (for seo reasons) to switch from blog.site.com to site.com/blog? If so, is there a way to do this in blogger? And if I do this, will my past posts lose their authority if their redirected to the new url structure? Rand mentions in this article: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/11-best-practices-for-urls "never use multiple subdomains" - This is an old article, but I've seen this mentioned several times. Does this still hold true? Am I losing out on links to my blog? Thanks in advance.

  • I am starting to do some manual back-linking for a medium competition word with high traffic.  I plan to start back linking with like niche blogs with non spam comments, like niche directories, like niche forums, and guest blogging. My domain is over 3 years old and ranks for multiple keywords, but I'm going to concentrate specifically on this keyword, but need to know how many links to back-link a day.  Again none of these will be spam, but will be of real quality. I was thinking 10-20 a day, but unsure.

  • I am happy with my URLs and my ecommerce site ranks well over all, but I have a question about product URL's. Specifically when the products have multiple attributes such as "color". I use a header URL in order to present the 'style' of products, www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-GIB-LPCCT-LIST and I  allow each 'color' to have it's own URL so people can send or bookmark a specific item. www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-GIB-LPCCT-ANCH1 www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-GIB-LPCCT-WRCH1 I use a rel canonical to show that the header URL is the URL search engines should be indexing and to avoid duplicate content issues from having the exact same info, MP3's, PDF's, Video's accessories, etc on each specific item URL. I also have a 'noindex no follow' on the specific item URL. These header URLs rank well, but when using tools like SEOMoz, which I love, my header pages fail for using rel canonical and 'noindex no follow' I've considered only having the header URL, but I like the idea of shoppers being able to get to the specific product URL. Do I need the no index no follow? Do I even need the rel canonical? Any suggestions?

  • Hello, We recently added new store views for our primary domain for different countries. Our primary url: www.store.com Different Countries URLS: www.store.com/au www.store.com/uk www.store.com/nz www.store.com/es And so forth and so on. This resulted in an almost immediate rankings drop for several keywords which we feel is a result of duplicate content creation. We've thousands of pages on our primary site. We've assigned a "no follow" tags to all store views for now, and trying to roll back the changes we did. However, we've seen some stores launching in different countries with same content, but with a country specific extensions like .co.uk, .co.nz., .com.au. At this point, it appears we have three choices: 1. Remove/Change duplicate content in country specific urls/store views. 2. Launch using .co.uk, .com.au with duplicate content for now. 3. Launch using .co.uk, .com.au etc with fresh content for all stores. Please keep in mind, option 1, and 3 can get very expensive keeping hundreds of products in untested territories. Ideally, we would like test first and then scale. However, we'd like to avoid any duplicate penalties on our main domain. Thanks for your help and answers on the same.

  • Hi Looking for a fix for the PrestaShop platform Look for the definitive answer on how to best stop the indexing of PrestaShop modules such as "send to a friend", "Best Sellers" and site search pages. We want to be able to add a meta noindex ()to pages ending in: /search?tag=ball&p=15 or /modules/sendtoafriend/sendtoafriend-form.php We already have in the robot text: Disallow: /search.php
Disallow: /modules/ (Google seems to ignore these) But as a further tool we would like to incude the noindex to all these pages too to stop duplicated pages. I assume this needs to be in either the head.tpl or the .php file of each PrestaShop module.? Or is there a general site wide code fix to put in the metadata to apply' Noindex Meta' to certain files. Current meta code here: Please reply with where to add code and what the code should be. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Guys, Were wondering what to do about our main domain name, we were ranking quite high for our main keyword and before Christmas our site dropped to 10th and we have been there for a while - last week our site dropped again onto the second page. The worrying thing is now our main domain name is now ranking 1 place above another domain name that we don't really use but its an exact match domain name for our target keyword. This exact match domain has hardly any links pointing to it and it currently has a 22 domain authority. We are wondering if we 301 our main site to this exact match domain would it rank higher than the top of the 2nd page where we are now for our main domain. Cheers.

  • Hi, Guest posting/article Marketing is a major part of our link building strategy. Normally we get one or two links for our site and one or two links to other authority sites(relevant). Some time author bio is not published with article or even not mention that this is a guest post. ( I know that we get just link and missed the other advantages of guest if author bio isn't mention) Is this a good practice especially when some posts are published on low quality blogs? SEs can be considered these as paid posts? What will be the better way to do this? Thanks Alex

  • On my site I redirect users when on a mobile device to be redirected to my mobile version of my site. In the last couple weeks I added that redirect in my htaccess file. I just realized today that I am doing a 301 redirect. In the last few weeks my ranking have gotten lower. I am starting to think that because of the redirect my mobile site is not as optimized as my regular site and therefor is effecting my rankings. My question is how can I redirect my users to my mobile site but not use a 301 AND how do I get google to use my main site content for ranking on the mobile side. I want to go back to getting my search rankings on the mobile side using my main sites content. Can I simply remove the 301 on the redirect? Hope that makes sense.

  • Hey SEOmoz members, I've been out of the SEO game for quite a while now... grew up years ago getting by with directory blasts, article marketing, social bookmarking, etc... I'm currently in the process of starting a few new campaigns. After burning the midnight oil on this site soaking up all the information I can, I realize the game has changed. It's not as simple as it used to be. So for these new campaigns, killer content, social integration, and guest blogging are going to be my main long term strategies. If I'm not mistaken, relevancy should be a key part of the link building strategy. So I guess my question is... article marketing, social bookmarking, web 2.0 creation... can these still be a viable source for high quality links? I do realize that without great content these are all dead ends. But when used correctly and in moderation, can these strategies still produce results? And if so... what are some good resources for finding high quality sites that will positively impact my campaigns? Are there any good article directories out there, or have they all been devalued? Do linkwheels still carry any weight?

  • Hi guys, I was looking to create a nice microsite and was using the Keyword Analysis tool to help find some good ideas. The problem is that I didn't know how to spell the item I was curious about. When I typed in the wrong spelling, it gave a pretty good result, so I went ahead and bought the domain and started thinking about content. Now I have a domain with a bad name. The correct spelling domain is ranked through the ozone and there's no chance I can compete with those guys. What do I do? Give up on the domain? I'm thinking to go ahead and continue outlining my site as if the domain had the correct spelling all along. But I confused over whether the home page should rank for the correct or incorrect spelling. Any help would be great.

  • Hi All, Basically over the last few months I have been working for a company that is mainly a dev house but are looking to expand their SEO clients further. At the moment because of the only recent focus on SEO we have a lot of clients who only pay for monthly reports, on page optimisation and some PPC. My question is, how can I show the clients that investing in Link Building is probably the next step and something they need to do if they wish to further progress their SEO campaign. I have written up a link building proposal to show them the advantages of Link Building, but any other ideas would be very much appreciated. Thanks,

  • 6 weeks ago I opened a Pinterest account to promote our baby product website and help develop links. I established x3 categories/boards and pinned the relevant images to each board with the relavant (seofriendly) descriptions. These images show up clearly on my profile page, however if they search for them in the Pinterest search bar nothing shows up. For some reason Pinterets is not showing them in its search results. Can anyone help?

  • I got a couple of pages with more then a 100 pages / links on them and thus Seomoz gives me warnings for those pages. For some categories i have over a hundred of pages. I listed all these on 1 sitemap (html) because it is a quick overview for visitors which pages there are. Is it smarter to split them up or is that pollution of the Internet (almost identical pages). If i did so i would use rel="canonical" link to the first page (the original) but is it wise?

  • Hi there I'm doing some SEO for a restaurant/bar/night club. Now I'm wondering whether I should create multiple entries on Google Places or one for all. I had in mind: one for the bar/night club and one for the restaurant, as the target audiences for those can be rather different. We have only one address (and one website), but several phone numbers, so it would be possible to have several entries. What's your opinion: One or several entries?

  • If this wasn't so serious an issue it would be funny.... Long store cut short, a client had a penalty on their website so they decided to stop using the .com and use the .co.uk instead. They got the .com removed from Google using webmaster tools (it had to be as it was ranking for a trade mark they didn't own and there are legal arguments about it) They launched a brand new website and placed it on both domains with all seo being done on the .co.uk. The web developer was then meant to put the rel=canonical on the .com pointing to the .co.uk (maybe not needed at all thinking about it, if they had deindexed the site anyway). However he managed to rel=canonical from the good .co.,uk to the ,com domain! Maybe I should have noticed it earlier but you shouldn't have to double check others' work! I noticed it today after a good 6 weeks or so. We are having a nightmare to rank the .co.uk for terms which should be pretty easy to rank for given it's a decent domain. Would people say that the rel=canonical back to the .com has harmed the co.uk and is harming with while the tag remains in place? I'm off the opinion that it's basically telling google that the co.uk domain is a copy of the .com so go rank that instead. If so, how quickly after removing this tag would people expect any issues caused by it's placement to vanish? Thanks for any views on this. I've now the fun job of double checking all the coding done by that web developer on other sites!

  • Hi All, I'm maintaining an e-commerce website and I've encountered some related keywords that I know will not convert to sales but are related to the subject and might help becoming an "authority". I'll give an example... If a car dealership wrote an amazing article about cleaning a car.
Obviously it is related but the chances of someone looking to clean his car will go ahead and buy one now are quite low. Also, he will probably bounce out of this page after reading the piece. To conclude, Would such an article do GOOD (helping to become an authority and having more visitors) or BAD (low conversion rate and high bounce rate)? Thanks

  • My client is a big international firm with 10 websites with different url (.co.uk, .com, .com.au, .pl... etc). All websites are exactly the same except the price. I suggested them to only use .com and use region as a sub domain like au.xxx.com instead of xxx.com.au. However they cannot do that for some reason. I am trying to solve the duplicate issue. I dont think i can use 301 redirect or canonial link because all regions are making even traffics. Any suggestions?

These banner slides can obviously contain html texts & links as well as photos. Does Google notice all of the texts in all of the slides of a page or does it notice only the first slide or alternatively somehow splits the weight it gives to the texts among the various slides. Thanks
