  • Hello!  I'm looking for specific recommendations of companies with whom you have been "Tickled pink at fantastic conversion improvement results!" I'm the customer for this service.  🙂 I seek a page-level review of a specific area of my site.  I'm looking for output of specific recommendations for improving conversion rates.  I want to avoid paying for a "generic best practices report" with one or two ideas for my site sprinkled in. I realize that I will be called to complete proper input into the process.  I am ready to do my share with the level of detail required. So, if you have an enthusiastic recommendation, please share.   Details are appreciated.  Most important, please tell me why this company made you very happy. I sincerely look forward to SEOMozzer input.  Thank you kindly, Loren

  • When searching for "kredittkort" on Norwegian Google I get a search results that looks like this. I want to replicate this, but I'm not sure what information they've provided and how they've done it. It's seems like their both listing products AND have sitelinks connected to a subsite. How is this possible? The sitelinks aren't even subpages of the ranked site. How have they managed this? Also, is the product previews they have?

  • Does the time a person stays on a website affect Search Rankings? If so, could the lower time from Adwords Visitors be effecting organic rankings? And the same for bounce rate. If Non-Paid Search Traffic Avg. Visit Duration time is 3:55 and Paid Search Traffic Avg. Visit Duration is 1:59 Could the low duration time be affecting our website rankings?

  • We have one keyword that brings our site the most visitors.  This keyword is the brand name we carry.  We have several years of tracking it in Adwords.  For some extended time, this keyword [exact match] has averaged 19 cents per click, 2.7 average position, 4.5% click through, and a quality score of 7/10. We wanted more clicks.   We could think of what was needed to increase the quality score.  Sure, we could change the meta tag title and the adwords title to be the same as the single word keyword, but this would be less informative.  We decided to keep these titles as phrases which include the brand name. First change we made: we increased the bid.  After all, it was profitable for the two ads above us, right?  We increased our bid from .50 to $1.50.  Effect?  Average position increased to 2.3 from 2.7.  Click through increased from 4.5% to 4.9%.  Cost per click went from .19 to .51.   The incremental cost for each sale was......well really really high.....this didn't work. (oh, we rank #2 organically.  Our organic CTR dropped from 3.2% to 2.9% with this change as well) Reversed back to where we were and decided to focus on the quality score.  We realized that the keyword was part of an add group with about 20 other keywords.  This word was important.....lets put it in it's own ad group.  We then made an "exact" copy of the ad and started up a new ad group.  Paused the old keyword.   We very quickly realized that the quality score on this "same" keyword was now 4/10.   That was odd....lets give it a few days......quality score drops to 3/10 and no longer qualifies for first page.   What was different we wondered?   AH!   We capitalized the first letter of the word.  Changing this took the quality score up to 6/10 instantly.  hmmm, we thought capitalization didn't matter?  Seems it did.  We now wait to see where the quality score goes.   Saga to continue....

  • With Google releasing that instructional on proper pagination I finally hunkered down and put in a site change request. I wanted the rel="next" and rel="prev" implemented… and it took two weeks for the guy to get it done. Brutal and painful. When I looked at the source it turned out he put it in the body above the pagination links… which is not what I wanted. I wanted them in the . Before I respond to get it properly implemented I want a few opinions - is it okay to have the rel="next" in the body? Or is it pretty much mandatory to put it in the head? (Normally, if I had full control over this site, I would just do it myself in 2 minutes… unfortunately I don't have that luxury with this site)

  • Hello, I was just wondering pretty much what the difference between a static HTML page for your timeline is and what the apps are. Is this something that is going to be wildly popular. What should one focus on when creating these static pages or custom apps? It seems like outreach and insights is going to be big for Timeline as well. What are the best practices for switching over in a timely manner while staying somewhat slightly ahead of the game?

  • My company specializes in website design and development, and as such, the portfolio section on our website has lots of links to websites we've built. Generally, the way that we do this is that our portfolio sections links to URLs with a naming scheme as follows: http://ourcompany.com/client1 which is either a redirect to http://client1.com if the site is still up, or a version hosted on our website (http://ourcompany.com/client1) if the client is no longer hosting their site. In addition, most of our client sites contain a reciprocal link back to ourcompany.com, usually with the text "Website design and development by OurCompany". I have two questions about this arrangement: Might the reciprocal backlinks from the client sites be affecting the SEO results for ourcompany.com? I know that reciprocal backlinks can be occasionally problematic. If I do a search for "site:ourcompany.com", I'll get results for all of the client sites that we're hosting at http://ourcompany.com/client1, because I haven't excluded them in robots.txt. Of course, the content of these sites has little to do with that of our company, because we have a diverse array of clients and none of them do web design and development (which is the content focus of our site). Might this seemingly unrelated content be affecting our results? Should the client sites be excluded in robots.txt or via nofollow? Thanks very much!

  • Hi, In the Crawl diagnostics reports, I'm getting lots of duplicate errors warnings e.g. duplicate page title. In most cases these are tracking urls and the page has a canonical tag pointing to the original page. It would be helpful if the crawl analysis reports could separate these out from ones that are of genuine concern. It can also happen when there's a noindex tag on a page. Thanks, Leigh

  • I have a client who has a few articles written about her and posted on different news-related sites. She has asked me to capture these articles (we have permission) and create a section on her site for them. My question is this... From an SEO standpoint, would it be better to link _to the _articles, post them on her site or both? Or, maybe there's an even better way I'm not thinking of. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kirk

  • Hi, Some might see this as a very (VERY) basic question but wanted to drill down into it anyway. Onsite content: Lets say you have a service website and attached to it is a blog, the blog gets updated every other day with 500 words of relevant content, containing anchor text links back to a relevant page on the main website. Forget about social signals and natural links being built from the quality content, will adding the content with anchor text links be more beneficial then using that content to generate links through guest blogging? 10 relevant articles onsite with anchor links, or 10 guest posts on other websites? I guess some might say 5 onsite and 5 guest posts.

  • I am little embarresed to say that the custom 404 page is appearing in a client's Sitelinks for their brand name search term. I have demoted this page from Sitelinks for the brand term but it still appears 😞 What is the best practise for a custom 404 page appearing in a sitemap and/or being blocked by robots.txt? Thanks

  • Hi there, We were ranking no. 1 for one of our key terms for a long time, however a competitor of ours by the looks of it purchased a load of private blog network links and managed to shift above us. The page we rank for on that term has a video with the markup to trigger a video box rich snippet (which i've noticed never seems to be given on position 1 but can be for 2 and below) - so that is now what our entry in the SERPs is. Since then we have actually dropped down to 3rd, with the web page now being in 2nd not having any new links / content in a very long time. Therefore I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about whether the video box could actually reduce CTR which could have resulted in us dropping down to 3rd ? The meta description text seems to be reduced to 100 characters with the vid box, so we're not getting our full message across where the others in the results are. My natural assumption would be that the video box would gain a higher CTR, but i'm thinking this may not be the case for us. Does anyone know of any data relating to the video box in the SERPS ? Many thanks, Stuart MtsbA.jpg

  • I want to improve or recover Google image search performance for my eCommerce website. My website was working well in Google image search but, I found negative performance since implementation of CDN for all images. • I'm having real trouble with getting working redirects in place to use on a site we're re-launching with a modified url structure. Old URL: http://www.example.com/example_folder/ New URL: http://www.example.com/example-of-new-folder/ Now, where the old URL's have a trailing slash the web.config simply will not accept it. It says the URL can start with a slash, but not end with a slash. However, many of my URL's do end with a slash so I need a workaround. These are the rules I'm putting in place: <location path="example_folder/"></location> Thanks

  • Hi, When building backlinks how important is the location of where the website resides? For example, if I was targeting a search term in Google UK, will link building from websites hosted on UK servers have a higher positive impact on rankings then building links from websites hosted on US servers? Lets say in the above UK hosted is better, what if you have 2 websites hosted in the UK but one with .com and one with .co.uk, I take it from a domain point of view the .co.uk will have a better impact on SERP's then the .com. Now looking at the above from a more wider scale lets say I have the following: A .co.uk website aimed at a search term in Google UK. Example: 1. 100 backlinks from websites hosted in the US with .com extension. 2. 100 backlinks from websites hosted in the UK with .co.uk extension. Is it a FACT that number 2 will 100% be more beneficial in UK rankings? Cheers

  • Hi I logged in the other day to find that over night I received 8347 notices saying certain pages are being kept out of the search engine indexes by meta-robots. I have not changed my robots.txt in years and I certainly didn't block Google from visiting those pages. Is this a fault on Roger Mozbot behalf? Or is there a bot preventing 8000+ pages being indexed? Is there a way to find out what meta-robot is doing this and where? And how I can get rid of it? I usually rank between #3 and #5 for the term 'sex toys' on google.com.au, but I now rank #7 to #9 so it would seem some of my pages/content is being blocked. My website is www.theloveshop.com THIS IS AN ADULT TOYS SITE. There is no porn videos or anything like that on it, but just in case you don't wish to look at sex toys or are around kids I thought I would mention it. Blake

  • I'm seeding a new site with hundreds of (high quality) posts, but since I am paying per word written, I'm wondering if anybody in the community has any anecdotal evidence as to how many words of content there should now be for a page to be counted just the same as a 700 word+ post, for example? I know there are always examples of pages ranking well with, for instance, 50 words or less of content, but does anyone have any strong evidence on what the minimum count should be, or has anyone read anything very informative in regards to this issue? Thanks a lot in advance!

  • With the lose of buildmyrank and many other services like this on the verge of extension I was looking at building a small blog network of my own for private use. Adsense and also 3 way linking. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this? I know this takes a ton of time to build but if anyone who's done something like this and wouldn't mind sharing some of their tips I would greatly appriciate it. Quick Question
Is it safe to register say 30 domains under the same person? Or would it be wiser to use whois protection to guard the names? Anyone else want to contribute their 2c to this strategy please be my guest.

  • Hello I run this website, http://www.bestillkredittkort.no (Norwegian website) I'm working all i can to make it rank, so i wanted to test adwords to see how good the page converted.
    .
Problem is my page got labeled bridge page. I have read the Google guideline for fixing bridge page and tried to fix what they suggest to make them accept the page, but its not working. I might think there's a underlying problem here, but im not sure how to fix it. I've even seen People from the same niche running adwords campaign with less content on the target page. Last time i tried to recheck if my site would get approved. I ran over the quality score tab. And when it was in pending it showed 10/10 in every aspect. was that just a sample ? I'm realy confused on this one. And im afraid it might be a problem witht the page that can destroy my seo efforts. Anyone have any suggestion or feedback on this one?

Is this because some domains use multiple anchor text links, so it is counted more than once in the exported spreadsheet?

  • I use both adwords and Microsoft Adcenter. I am looking to be able to track my conversions from each PPC site. I do not have a "Thank You" or "Check Out" page that I can tag because any sales that I make are through clicks on a link that goes offsite to an affiliate company that I receive commission from. However, the link on my site is a "Buy Now" button, so to get some idea of which source is giving me better conversions I'd like to know whether adcenter or adwords is sending more people that end up clicking this link. Canb anyone suggest a way or a program to set up in this manner? Thanks in advance for your help!

Qualified Impressions - SEO Company WeBuildRankings.com - SEO Service VisibilitySquad - SEO Companies Some of their clients are rocking multiple anchor text links. How is this not any different than what Go Daddy did recently?
