    Hello, Im doing a research on the link-building analyze of 2 sites. What I want to know is whats the most important fact to analyze in the Open Site Explorer.     According to Google's Webmaster Guidelines: "Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service." Does that mean Open Site Explorer is a violation of those Terms of Service, or is it authorized?

    Hi all, Any help with the following.  We built a new site for a customer in June of last year.  We then cracked on with the on page and off page SEO.  All white had....good quality.  3 months in the site was still not ranking with google and indeed had been sandboxed.  All working fine with Bing and Yahoo.  We followed all the steps to get recognitions for Google but to no avail.  In December we took the drastic step of providing the customer with a completely new site...new content, design, structure etc etc.  In Jan we went back and fixed all the external linking sources to link to the new pages on the new site.  Now 7 months in.....the site is STILL sandboxed.  All still fine with Bing and Yahoo. Thoughts anyone?

    Hello, I've been using open site explorer, dabbled with seo spy glass, and other back linking sites, but I was wondering if there was a manual way of searching for back links? Such as site.www.widgets.com +keyword -widgets.com to show me results of all the sites pointing to www.widgets.com, or pointing to the keywords linking to widgets.com. I do enjoy Open Site Explorer, but it takes a few months index the back links ive done.

    Within some of my campaigns i can see issues regarding 404 pages. Then when i export the data to a csv, sometimes the referring pages that lead tot the 404 are not shown. Am i missing something here?

    My company is purchasing another company's website.  We are moving their entire site onto our CMS and the IT guys are working hard to replicate the URL structure.  Several of the category pages are changing slightly and I am not sure if it matters: Old URL - http://www.DOMAIN.com/products/adults New URL - http://www.DOMAIN.com/products/adults**/** Notice the trailing slash?  Will Google treat the new page as the same as the old one or as completely different (i.e. new) page? P.S. - Yes, I can setup 301s but since these pages hold decent rankings I'd really like to keep it exactly the same.

    On a page I am trying to make it have a better on page analysis for a keyword. Is it worth creating a small image that you cant see in the background 5 pixels by 5 pixels with the keyword img alt, or does google see this negatively?     SEOmoz PRO is giving me back duplicate content errors. However, i don't see how i can get a list of pages that are duplicate to the one shown. If i don't know which pages/urls cause the issue i can't really fix it. The only way would be placing canonical tags but that's not always the best solution. Is there a way to see the actual duplicate pages?

    So I am pretty new to SEO Moz.  I have an e-commerce site and recently did a website redesign.  However, not without several mistakes and issues.  That said, when SEO Moz did a crawl of my site, the results showed A LOT of Duplicate Content Pages on my site due to my having one item in many variations.  It was almost over whelming and because the number of pages was so high, I have been trying to research ways to correct it quickly.  The latest crawl from yesterday shows a drastic drop in the number of duplicate content pages and a slight increase in pages with too long page titles (which is fixable).  I am embarrassed to give the number of duplicate pages that were showing but, just know, it's been reduced to a third of the amount. I am just wondering if I missed something and should I be happy or concerned?  Has there been a change that could have caused this?  Thanks for helping this rookie out!

    Yes... It iz I again ;o) Here's one for you savy techies out there: So, I've got a primary domain which is live, optimized and running smooooth. And then I've got a couple of misspelled domains as well (17 to be exact). Will it have an effect if I 301 those misspelled domains? What's Best Practice for several domain aliases? Example.
    Primary domain:  bryghusprojektet.dk
    Alias domain 1: bryghusprojekt.dk (301 redirects to primary domain)
    Alias domain 2: bryghus-projekt.dk (Hosting company infopage)
    Alias domain 3: bryghus-projekter.dk (Not activated) Regards.

    Hey guys, I'm having a hard time grasping canonical links and the warnings I'm getting on my report card. I'm using Yoast SEO Plug-In and can see that every page on my site has a canonical reference to the URL of the page I'm at. Can someone please enlighten me on this subject. I'm reading everything I can about Canonicalization (honestly...an easier word please) but I does not make sense yet. Thanks! I added the notice I'm getting on my report card.     Suppose I have a long url on an established site and created a shorter version of it so it is easier for people to enter directly and click. I 301 the short version to the long. I don't think there is much concern for people linking to the long version pages, but will there be a tendency for people to link to the short url instead of the long for the domain links? Will I not benefit as much from links to the short vs the long? Thanks.

    I'm looking at implementing social sharing buttons throughout a site that I'm working on. I've souced the icons from one of the well known providers however when I test the pages with Firebug I get this: <colgroup><col width="303"> <col width="58"> <col width="86"></colgroup>

    One of my sites was hit after Google confirmed  its panda 3.2 update. The site ranked very well for many heavy traffic keywords in my niche. But all of a sudden, 80% of the keywords which ranked high in the previous dropped 50 in SERP. I know it is a -50 penalty , but i do not know how to recover from it. The link building campaign is almost the same as before and all of the articles are unique. BTW, i have two image ads on the sidebar and 7 affiliate links on the bottom of the page. Any input will be great appreciated !

    Hi all, I have a matter i would like a discussion about, since I am looking for a good solution. First the case: I have a site with a large community based discussion board. We daily have 40 to 80 active forum threads with average of 200 posts. As it is right now each thread page shows, at the bottom of the thread, the 20 threads with latest activity. From a SEO point of view this is not the best solution, since all thread pages passes link juice to the latest 20 threads. However, the threads change daily so the juice is sprayed around all over the place. What I want to do is related forum threads, such that each thread at the bottom shows up to 10 threads which could be of interest to the reader. In this way one thread will have more or less the same threads at the bottom at all time, unless the relevancy is better for other threads, causing som minor changes to happen over time. The question is, how can one do this? In the backend, the forum has two tables. One holding threads and one holding posts relating to the threads. All in all the system has 66.500 threads, and in total 469.000 posts. Every thread has a title, and the posts are of varying length. The threads have categories, but they are not so distinct that a thread in one category can not be related to a thread in another category. So I would like to make the relevancy from the title of the thread and the content of the forum posts. As of yet I have not come up with a good solution, and i will look forward to reading any feedback for this. I will answer any questions as fast as possible, to get a good discussion goint here.     Hi Guys, Hope your all OK. Were having major problems with our homepage ranking for our main keyword - we were originally 4 but over the Christmas period our SEO company reported a fault with one of there servers that they were using for links, because of this fault these links were de-indexed from the search engine and in turn we have plummeted to 10th... At the time we had a landing page with an exact match keyword in it, e.g: www.ourdomainname.co.uk/key-word/ we were told to 301 this to our main page in Google but when we have looked today its now showing this page instead of our homepage. We also have another domain that we are using for a forum at the moment, now this domain name is an exact match doming e.g www.keyword.co.uk. The question is do we gamble and 301 our whole site to www.keyword.co.uk and see if we can get this ranking better? Thanks, Scott

    Okay, so looking at my ranking tab for my campaign. It shows the increase in traffic from my keywords, ranks, etc. My goal is to increase traffic, thereby sales. I am trying to plan a link building campaign (aside from the onpage optimization) and get as many keywords within the top 10 as possible: Do I start focusing on a certain number of keywords that are on page 2 (lets say 10) and try to build links to get them within the top 10. Then pick another 10 keywords? Do I pick a variety of keywords from various pages? What is the smartest way of trying to optimize campaign keywords as far as linkbuilding?

On my blog we are personally reviewing cosmetic products. and forum user are sharing experience and problems related to beauty..... But i was reading this post http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/uncover-competitors-using-multiple-sites-for-multiple-first-page-rankings . it has this " Alright, Google dislikes pages, subdomains, and domains with substantially duplicated content. Got it. " Any way my content is not going to be dup at all. but Product which we are reviewing on blog. ll also be on our store for sale. and might be people sharing own experiences about same product on forum. do u think i should worry?

    I have a client who is a business broker. I have just begun working with them, and they are trying to determine the best domain name to use - they have several. business-broker-alabama.com vs businessbrokeralabama.com Which one of these has more value? I know that search engines have somewhat devalued keywords. The first one probably has a little more SEO value, but is going to be a drag in terms of marketing -- saying "business hyphen broker hyphen alabama" is going to get old for them. Thanks!

    I 301 redirected a page to a new URL that is better optimized for my content. However as soon as I did this upon visiting the page, my browser's seomoz toolbar "page authority measurement had fallen to "1" it was previously in the 40's... Does anyone know how long it takes for the seomoz toolbar PA rank to refresh on a 301 redirect? I see where seomoz says the redirected page will retain between 90-99% off its link juice. I'm fine with losing a little if it would mean long term gains in terms of good on-page seo. Any ideas?

    Yes I know, sorry guys but I also have a problem with duplicate pages. It shows that almost every page of my site has a duplicate content issue and looking at my folders in the server, I don't see all these pages... This is a static Website with no shopping cart or anything fancy. The first on the list is my [index] page and this is giving me a hint about some sort of bad settings on my end with the SEOMOZ crawler??? Please advice and thank you! index-variations.jpg

    Is there a way to easily find out which URLs on a store-type site are NOT being indexed in Google?  For example, if my sitemap information in Google Webmaster tools shows I have 7342 URLs in my sitemap and 5699 of those indexed, how do I find out what the 1643 non-indexed URLS are?     I'm checking out a dentist website http://www.sagedentalnj.com/ I was referred by a friend so just taking a little peek at it. When you click on the menu items, the url at the top doesn't change. When you view source, the page titles are all the same. when I do site:http://www.sagedentalnj.com/  none of his pages are indexed by google. What can be done with his site so that google sees his pages? Maybe submit sitemap?

    Well hi there...!!? Now, here's a scenario: I've been anchortext linkbuilding (with success, wuhuuu!!) for a client through a couple of months and I've aggregated quite a few links from a series of 'solid' forums. The majority (we are 99!) of links are build using the signature in my posts and comments. Now my client has shifted focus from this specific linkbuilding task and I have another client awaiting to "take the place in my signature". How do I ensure that historical posts from client #1 stays unaltered, while new comments have client #2 in my signature? A few after thoughts: Are there any automated ways to monitor the above mentioned scenario? What are the chances of getting penalized from the forum, loosing historical comments (links) Tally ho! ;o)
