Canonical to another website?
-
I've recently noticed in my adwords campaigns that using exact match domains improves my quality scores so I've been snatching up all kinds of domains which include different keywords. On these new sites (which I only use to bring down my CPC) I've been tossing up a landing page, scraping some content form my main site and direct a canonical tag to my organic site so google doesnt penalize me for duplcant content. It is ok to use a canonicle to an outside website and Is there any precautions when doing this? I just want to be sure I'm not hurting my main site where we rank well organicly on and I was also wondering if any of these sub sites which also have links to my main site carry any vaue. Appreciate any feedback! -Cliff

I tested your site with the Bing SEO Toolkit, and it does not bring up a violation as it used to, so you can say that neither Bing or Google have a problem iwth cross domain canonical
-
So cross canonical is reasonably acceptable do you think links that point to the other website have any value since there is a canonical or are they disregarded? Hopefully they're not treated as spam. Using the exact phrase domain has brought down my CPC nearly 50% I'm wanting to add another 20 or so domains in the same fashion. Thank you! -Cliff

The souce is the Bing SEO Toolkit.
The site is mine, I add the violations as i find them, but it is hard to notice if they expire. I have been meaning to set up a test since I heard that google stated allowing cross domain canonicals.
The main reason i have them is for content.
If cliff sets one up. ill test it to make sure, if not ill set up my own test and remove it from the database, i will add a dates, good idea, I may even have them in the database already. that at least will show me that i have not picked one up for a while.

Alan, to the best of my knowledge the article you linked is not correct. It has been reported that Bing does support the cross domain canonical. http://www.seomoz.org/q/does-bing-support-cross-domain-canonical-tags
I like most of the setup of your article but if I can share two feedback items:
1. There is not date stamp on the article. Personally I disregard any SEO information without a date stamp. In my experience 100% of quality sites offer the date stamp.
2. There is no link to or mention of the source.
I could always be mistaken but I wanted to share the information for discussion.

google has allowed this for a few months, but bing gives an violation
http://perthseocompany.com.au/seo/reports/violation/the-canonical-url-is-in-a-different-domainBut, this may of changed also. if you set it up i can check if Bing Seo Toolkit still picks it up, so let me know the URL if you set it up

Partial Website Translation - Strategy Debate
Hi We have a travel site with over 3000 pages in English. Of these around 200 relate to products and the rest are content articles, most of which with very low traffic. Certain products and pages appeal directly to users in different languages (around 20-30 out of 200 for each language). We are debating how to go about translating these pages... If we did "oursite.com/es/product", "oursite.com/de/product", etc then users entering the site on these translated pages from Google would be limited to seeing a very cut down site, bearing in mind most speak English and would also be able to interact with our English language content we are probably losing out. Also, if we detected user language on entry, we would show effectively hide most of our product and content from users. Any suggestions or ideas about how to go about this without losing engagement/conversions/creating a mess?

Figuring out why sales drop significantly from one day to another
Hi all, We're running an eCommerce site and are using Moz to track our organic results i primarily we are using the Rank tracker and On page analysis tools. One strange issue that we experience on our website is sales dropping from one day to the next unexplainably (to us anyway). For example, one day (could be any day of the week or weekend) we'll make £1,000 of sales, the next £200 - the following might be back up to £1,000. I've tried looking for patterns in traffic, but oddly even on the days when we have poor sales we still tend to have almost as much traffic. We also use adwords, which account for about 50% of sales - on some of the poor days our spend on adwords is down, on others it's not. If the spend is down I could make a fair assumption that our competitors are playing around with their bids. I'm interesting in trying to determine why we have such irregular sales patterns. If they dropped 10/20% I could quite easily put it down to any number of factors - even the weather for example, however drops of 80/90% seem strange. I don't really know where to look for the answers - my first thought was that on the poor days I should check whether our organic rankings had dropped significantly overnight - but the Moz Rank Tracker only updates once per week, so perhaps there is an alternative way someone could suggest? I'd be really interested to hear from any of you that might have been through similar struggles, or, have some ideas that might help us get to the bottom of the fluctuation in sales. Thanks in advance for your time. Kind regards,

Conversion Rate boost - Website Feedback
We are a relatively young company with an Okay conversion rate of around 2% across several different sales channels. I am mentioning this because our website with the same type of products has a very low conversion rate of under 1%. I know this is a deep topic, involving different analytic metrics, but would like to ask MOZ community members if there's anything obvious that needs improvement on this website www.cherrywalls.com that would help to increase conversions. I will be happy to answer any additional questions or to clarify things! Thank you for your time! Any suggestions and/or critique are greatly appreciated!

How to track full path of website visitors until conversion, not just landing page?
hi, This is my first question in the forums and I'm looking forward to be part of a great SEO community. I was wondering ow to track full path of website visitors until conversion, not just landing page? I've been using Wordpress jetpack site stats for while, which shows great data like keywords used in google, landing page etc. But I would like to have access to the full path for each separate visitors (including their IP address and country is possible) to improve my website and conversions. Example: step 1: Visitor X types "seo" on Google step 2: visitor lands on my homepage step 3: visitor visits to order page and buys Is there such tool available as a Wordpress plugin? Or do I have to use Google analytics for this? thank you for your help, Marc

Complete website redesign - what to look for
We are having our website redesigned by an SEO company to increase CTR and for a better user experience and I was wondering what to look for and what key questions to ask. At the moment we rank very well for a few strong keywords and I m afraid that by rewriting the content and changing the website layout we might put at risk some of the rankings even for a brief period of time. This company seems to be very good so I need to know what to ask them to make sure everything goes according to plan. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Does anyone have a form solution which would allow for specific website visitor information (keywords, path, etc...from Google Analytics), to be passed to a form submitted by that user which could be passed to a Zoho CRM lead record?
Looking for form analytics which offers: security, CSS integration, capture of Google Analytics data, integration with Zoho CRM.
