Yahoo small business host has two web sites and confuses the spiders
-
Both another consultant and my first seomoz test stated that I have two websites and that confuses the spiders. . One is www.mystore.com ( example) and the other is mystore.com. Yahoo states that's how they role and I can not delete one. I can do a 301 redirect and redirect one site to the other but they do not have a recommendaation as to which one to redicrect.
Which one should I redirrect?
-
I'd put both URLs (the www and non-www) into OpenSiteExplorer and see which has the better stats in terms of rank and inlinks, then redirect to that version of the site.
-
Are they the same content?
Me i would recomend redirecting to the mystor.com as www is completly un-needed, I would not call you www.Mike, because it is of no use, so why call your site www.mystore.com.
But most will recomend the oppersite
one day www may fade away and look old fashioned

Company name in Site Meta description?
Ok. So I know that you should have your company name in the site title, but is it all that important in the site description? The reason I ask is because I am competing with another company for the #1 position (I was number 1, now #2) that has an 8 character name and mine is 22 taking away from a great deal of real estate in my 150-160 character site description in which I could provide additional information describing my company. Should I remove my name in the site description enabling me to use more descriptive keywords and actionable text such as (Find, research, contact, professional, info) etc. Thanks,

Should Ltd be added to business names in page titles or not?
For example if a page title contained the company name is it advisable to have the page title as: Blue Cups | Company Name Ltd or Blue Cups | Company Name We have a feeling that searchers are not likely add the Ltd whilst performing searches.

What precaution should we take to change the default page of the site
For some reason we wanted to change the default page of my site from example.com to example.com/default.aspx. We will be using 301 redirection to get the back link benefits. Do we need to make any changes in webmaster tool and sitemap too??

Canonical Tag for Ecommerce Site
My client has an ecommerce site with over 1,000 products. We have a ton of duplicates because of how their ecommerce system handles product pages. Each time a new product is added, there is a default product page created (/product/12345-product-name.aspx). Each time that product is added to a specific product category, another, separate URL is created (/product/office-chairs/12345-product-name.aspx). The site has over 1,000 duplicates (at least one for each product) because of how the ecommerce system structures URLs. We are unable to have unique content on /products/12345-product-name.aspx and /product/office-chairs/12345-product-name.aspx because both pages pull from the same database. Their webteam informed me that they can't implement canonical tags on individual pages, they must be dynamically added to the site all at once. Thus forcing me to choose all of the default product pages as primary URLs. Both types of URLs are getting indexed and the product URLs that were added to the categories are SEO friendly so I'm leary to eliminate one or the other with a canonical tag or a no index. Suggestions?

New Site + Transfered blog: Things to watch for?
Hey everyone. So here is what's going on. 1. Built new website. Will be using generally the same URL's as original. 2. Incorporated and expanded on a previously separate informative blog. a. Many articles contain very similar if not the same articles as our blog. 3. The blog will be taken down as soon as new site is put online. So my question is just. Could someone list the like top 5 important things I need to keep in mind before putting this website live? I don't mind searching forums and blogs for the how-to part; I just need to know what I should be thinking about and getting done pre-launch. I believe re-directing the blog articles should be done? Create and submit sitemap? Thanks, Web-creation newb

Title Tag Targeting Two Geographic Modifiers
How would you suggest writing a homepage title tag which needs to target both state and city? We are targeting these two phrases: Lincoln personal injury lawyer
On-Page Optimization | | blueroom
Nebraska personal injury lawyer Any thoughts on how you'd write the title tag? I know targeting Nebraska will be challenging but it's what the higher ups want to do. Would you suggest: Lincoln Nebraska Personal Injury Lawyer ?0
